In a statement provided to Ars, Microsoft's Xbox VP Yusuf Mehdi didn't provide any solid update on sales numbers, but he did say that Microsoft is "seeing record breaking sales and [we] are selling every Xbox One we can make. Demand is far exceeding supply in the 13 countries we’ve launched and we are sold out at retailers around the world." Mehdi added that 50 million man-hours have been spent on the system so far, and he said that the company has been "humbled and gratified" by the response to the system's roll out.

I wonder why Microsoft refuses to give us updates for sales numbers. It's probably because---in comparison to the PlayStation 4---Microsoft's sell-through isn't nearly as impressive.

"Selling every Xbox One we can make" sounds more impressive.

¿Dónde están los números?

Hopefully they give us something, even if they probably are lower than PS4, it does not mean they are "bad", they nearly set a record in UK, which is pretty damn good.

50 mil man hours produced that? Damn then MS really is incompetent and I understand why investors want to get rid of it.

Ha ha the comments here!
Well only thing that annoyed me here was saying they were "humbled and gratified", ha ha.

Their attitude this year hasn't displayed humble at all, ha ha.

Maybe not. Might be time for MS to join Ninty and Sony in using the platform family to describe sales and shipments, though.

I fully expect Microsoft's PR to reference total sales for "the Xbox family" in the NPD threads.

As we've seen throughout the past few months, Microsoft is very hesitant to mention specific numbers when they aren't #1.

Given that PS4 is already at 2.1 million. I would be surprised if MS hasn't done at least 1.3 to 1.5 million given the blackfriday sales. They were available at every Target in Houston last Thursday now its sold out.

So is he lying?!?!

No I mean that they are very quick at re-suplying. Both consoles sold out at launch but right now only the XB1 is available. What's also interesting is that all units are the CoD bundle. MS probably wants to push value added boxes.

50 million man hours and it's not even finished.

It's just like when they bragged about the new controller costing $100M to create, to me numbers like that point more to mismanagement.

This is positive guys. We want a healthy industry. You guys sound bitter in this thread for some reason, no offense.

Says you, I want this industry to burn to the ground. Better games came out when this industry was fledgeling.

kinda joke

All the console makers do that...so that's a "duh" comment.

They probably are selling every single one they can get out the door. I still have a few friends that didn't preorder and can't find one (outside of EBay/CL)

good i want both sony and microsoft to sell their consoles up the ass - both being successful is a good thing

Yep

We want a healthy industry. Not one where one of the competitors is releasing half-finished products filled with cynical crap like micro transactions, being kept alive by people who should know better.

Selling roughly half the number of units as your next closest competitor has to be disheartening to say the least.

Reminds me of when Jack Trenton said he'd pay anyone $1000.00 for a PS3 found on the shelf after the PS3 launch.

The stacks of Xbox Ones that no one seems to be buying at my local Target seem to disagree.

Jokes aside, duh?

You know, I'd really like to believe that, but even today there are Day One units out there... just waiting to be bought.
