But it can change the minds of your customers.
Granted, its too early to tell. However, the developer behind the new KI certainly doesn't inspire confidence in quality.
That said, I will agree that both system's launch titles are lacking. Its KI, Forza, Ryse, and Dead Rising vs Killzone, Knack, Witness, and Driveclub. Personally, I'm not dying to play any of them.
Well as you said, it's EA so the chances of it being exclusive forever are slim enough as it is.
But everyone is going from this interview

What are you talking about?! KI has tons of iconic characters.
Like Dino! ...the dinosaur. And Wolf Claw! ...the wolf man.
And don't forget Glacier, the ice man. Blazer, the fire man. Ninjo, the ninja. Robore, the robot. Punch Combo, the boxer. There's nothing goofy and generic about these fighters.
Uh, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat have iconic characters. Everyone knows Ryu, Ken, Dhalsim, Chun Li, E Honda, Zangief, Guile, Blanka, Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, Sub Zero, Scorpion, Raiden, Shang Tsung, Goro, etc.lol, well let's play with mortal kombat and his iconic roster of rainbow ninja men a d women.
Mhhh, maybe it's better if we look at the shoto army in street fighter. I dunno, which do you prefere? Silly game.

Like the most iconic character in KI is the knight dude on the cover and the chick who flashes people for an attack.
Who the fuck are you kidding?
"Knight Dude?" Not sure if serious. KI was a SNES pack in game and a fairly big N64 release as I recall, so there is brand recognition and nostalgia there.
if Microsoft wants to put KI in the public eye, a dew/Doritos campaign is all it takes. Assuming that iconic characters are going to be the deciding factor (especially since no new MK or SF is launching with either console) is a mistake. If the game is fun, looks good, and is well marketed (the F2P option might work in its favor here) , it will do fine.
What is MS's 'bomba' going to be with the Xbone?
It's a given the console will drop $50 in the first 6 months, but what incentive can they throw out to totally persuade gamers to go MS vs Sony?
They have a firm stance on their DRM/sharing policy, so what can they do to make dealing with that nonsense worth it?
Well my dad actually does know who they are since he took me to the damn movie when I was a kid. KI hasnt had an entry since the N64. No one knows who these characters are. But really, being iconic has nothing to do with it being good.Downplaying a game like that, is dumb. Hating on a game only for its platform, is childish.
I could say the same shit, for every beat em up. Go ask your dad, who is goro or raiden, i'm sure he will know the answer.

Wait those are actual characters in KI?
Edit: never played KI - too busy with better games - assuming your post is full of parody
It's sad. This is a situation where delay, revision, and a little sincerity would play into their favor.
Can they really afford to delay at this point?
Wow.. It was that bad? I didn't even realize. Holy shit that is funny.

man, thinking about what MS could have done with this system if they had abandoned discs and ditched Kinect as mandatory.
They would catch some flak for not having physical media BUT...
1. they would not need 24 hour license check ins since there's no disc install loophole. Machine could be offline indefinitely after a game is downloaded.
2. they could focus their message on the benefits of game sharing across online connected consoles and family circles, without having to explain how your current rights with discs are getting screwed over.
3. making Kinect optional means they could sell the system for cheaper. Heck, no BRD disc drive would mean they would have a shot coming it at under the PS4 price.
Even if the download-only console would turn away some people, it would be better than imposing restrictions on physical media and forcing online check ins.
They made a big mistake attempting to treat discs like digital downloads. if they hadn't been so impatient about making the switch, they wouldn't be seeing this backlash. They could just wait 5 years where more consumers would make the choice themselves to abandon discs and go DD only.
Either abandon discs entirely or treat them as they do now and let the market transition to DD only on their own timeframe.
The real price announcement isn't even close to as bad as this video makes it out to be, but the video is just so damn funny.Wow.. It was that bad? I didn't even realize. Holy shit that is funny.
Their conference wasn't bad nah
At this point, I think everyone is talking out of their ass if they think they know what MS's player base does and dose not recognize.
Then again, it's getting smaller and smaller by the day. Who knows. In a few weeks time, you might be able to get a 50% statistical sample just by asking some dude on the bus.
jesus christ; this is actually sony ps3 launch.
People are downplaying it cause it looks bad as a fighter, is developed by developer with a poor track record and has no fighting game experience, and has terrible free to play model. It being on a bad console is just icing on the shit cake.
People are downplaying it, because it's on xbox one, period. So much hate and ignorance on this game, it really makes me sick. What you just wrote, is plain false.

but that would have them change their entire approach. The architecture of the box is designed around running a form of windows 8 and apps, for entertainment and TV overlay. That informs the ram, the esram, the lower GPU power, the yield issues. Everything.
The games are just one strand of that. I'm sure MS are having some pain right now, but I still think they are happy with this approach and expect people to come around to their point of view eventually.

I have tremendous respect for the KI brand, but you cannot be serious trying to put KI on the same level as SF.
Edit: It's like saying Crash Bandicoot is as good as Mario.
Honestly, I don't think Microsoft's presence in the gaming industry is healthy for gamers. I hope they jump ship as fast as possible.
jesus christ; this is actually sony ps3 launch.
Perhaps, but of all the Rare games to revive this is the one?
Well its pretty clearly not the only reason theyre downplaying it. Which part of it is false?People are downplaying it, because it's on xbox one, period. So much hate and ignorance on this game, it really makes me sick. What you just wrote, is plain false.
