Calling it: Crackdown 3 is gonna get cancelled next. It's been quite a while since we saw that game.
That would be some shit. But I also wouldn't be terribly surprised either. We haven't seen much of anything from the game.
If it's not at E3 (or the Scorpio reveal), then I'm fully expecting it. And I don't want that either, because it was my most anticipated Microsoft game after Scalebound.
First or second party games get cancelled, either one can have development issues. This isn't restricted to second party.
You're missing the point. There is a pattern of games (specifically bigger games) underperforming or projects being cancelled entirely. I'm not saying it's a problem specific to 2nd-party studios. What I'm saying is that other (bigger) independent studios -- like Insomniac, Crytek, Remedy, etc., might be reluctant to work with Microsoft in the future. Clearly I don't
know anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if MS started having trouble finding new partnerships with independent developers going forward.
Or, as I suggested in the previous post, and as both Nirolak and Stump have as well, is that maybe Microsoft is starting to shy away from large-scale independent partnerships like I've listed above. Either way, only time will tell.
Obviously it's different with first-party studios, because outside of mass exodus or outright closure, they will still be making games for the company that owns them whether they want to or not. The studio doesn't get the luxury of choosing like independent developers or 3rd-party publishers do.
Sony's relationship with Platinum is zero and I don't think Kamiya particularly likes them. Nintendo is far more likely candidate.
I don't even understand why so many are eager to say "Nintendo/Sony: Save it!" because Microsoft owns the IP. Unless they're willing to sell it off, no one is saving shit.
