Hopefully they'll make Liquid live
A new MGS under the right developer (let's be fair Microsoft has a huge list to choose from) could be enormous. Kojima overseeing the project would be the icing on the cake but not really necessary or realistic.Wow, huge if true. Microsoft keeps buying things with that big pocket of theirs. Hopefully it pays off.
So your opinion is worthless.I have not cared for this franchise since Metal Gear 2. Seriously couldn't give a fuck if it went to Nintendo too.
Thursday I heardAre they buying it before or after they buy Sega?
MS execs ultimately want Game Pass subscribers to number in the billions, not tens of millions. It seems Microsoft is being linked to just about every other potential deal.
Here's to hoping some good games come out of this.
The days of Sega IP being PlayStation exclusive are potentially coming to an end. I wouldn't bet on the next Persona being only on PS5.But then PS5 will probably get Persona 6 3-4 years from now and I'll have to get it.
Xbox/PC is the place to play MGS right now. 1 via GOG, 2 and 3 in 4k on Xbox, 4 (unfortunately) streamed via PS Now, Rising on Xbox.I don't think developing a new MGS game, or even getting Kojima to work on it is the point. More importantly, this would mean getting the entire MGS franchise on PC/Xbox. That would be huge whether Kojima is involved or not.
The franchise would be infinitely better off than with Konami.
The PS5 collection rumours came from 4chan and included Twin Snakes. It's almost certainly nonsense. What’s really going on here? First rumors of a collection of MGS games on PS5. Now rumors of Microsoft buying the Metal Gear franchise? The game would sell better on the PlayStation, but I doubt Sony would really care if Microsoft purchases Metal Gear with their current direction and decision making.
What I wonder about is IF Microsoft acquires the MGS license, what will they do with it especially if Hideo is not in charge of it? In fact, I’m actually terrified of what will happen to the franchise if Hideo doesn’t have full control of the franchise. I doubt Konami would sell the franchise to anyone, but you I guess you never know. We’ll see what happens.
Do you have any idea how much of the industry MS would need to buy to become a monopoly?Microsoft desperately trying to become a Monopoly in the gaming industry. They are the only one out of the big 3 to not have won a generation. So they are definitely feeling the heat now.
These rumors are now starting to sound very deliberate with a very clear objective, i.e., to discourage people from the PlayStation brand.
Initial rumors started that Sony is doing Metal Gear remakes with Konami and Bluepoint. Now the rumors are that MS is doing a Metal Gear game with Bluepoint and Konami? That's too convenient. Let's look at it logically:
Although anything is possible, this all seems extremely far-fetched, and to be honest, a very deliberate attempt now (weeks and weeks of unfounded rumors against Sony, PlayStation, and PS management) to dissuade people in favor of the other brand.
- Sony is doing a Metal Gear movie right now (Oscar Isaac is playing Snake).
- They are also tapping into cross-mediums (movies from game IPs, and vice versa).
- Does anyone really think that they will do an MG movie and let go of the opportunity to do the game?
- If Kojima is the one who pitched this idea (I doubt it), would Sony go 'Nah, we don't like it.' And then he would go to MS to do this?
- Will Konami finally wake up from the slumber and have their IPs go exclusively to Xbox, and not PlayStation where they have the highest chance to make money?
- Will Sony just also let go of Bluepoint for no reason?
This reminds me the FUD v2.0 of what we all saw last year with PS5 hardware (9.2 TF, no HW ray tracing, can't do 4K, 40-50 FPS gap vs. XSX, etc.)
They could buy the Monopoly IP I suppose.MS execs ultimately want Game Pass subscribers to number in the billions, not tens of millions.
We can talk all day about how likely that is, but to even stand a chance of reaching that figure people need to start thinking as Game Pass as the default place for video games.
That means making the Xbox ecosystem the default place for video games, or, rather MS working to make sure there's very little they're missing out on.
And they'll only get bolder as subscribers increase.

Maybe, but not by default like its always been before.
Xbox/PC is the place to play MGS right now. 1 via GOG, 2 and 3 in 4k on Xbox, 4 (unfortunately) streamed via PS Now, Rising on Xbox.
But PC ports of the HD Collection and some revival for 4 are both much needed.
The PS5 collection rumours came from 4chan and included Twin Snakes. It's almost certainly nonsense.
Konami licencing out their IP seems to be a common theme in these rumours though, and doesn't seem insane considering where they are right now.
Personally, I'd predict mostly remakes. MG1 and 2 are dying for modern updates to bring them more in-line with the rest of the series, and they'd basically be new games to 99 percent of the MGS fanbase, and that's not even counting work on bringing 1-4 up to modern standards. That's 10-15 years of games right there if released one at a time, without even one worry of a completely original adventure.
Do you have any idea how much of the industry MS would need to buy to become a monopoly?
It ain't one publisher and a popular IP.

Oh if this rumor is true he'll have a break down I reckon.
You take this too serious. Rumors come and go and just because some of them are not in your preferred plastic toy's favor it doen't mean there is a conspiracy going on.
If Game Pass hits even 100m users across TV, streaming, consoles and PC, it becomes the default. Third parties will start treating MS a lot better at much less than that (and we're sorta seeing that with Square and Sega today). They could buy the Monopoly IP I suppose.
Lol you're the salty one, trust meYou do realise you just admit you trash? Lol.
Also Salt and hate is strong in your post. Don't worry You can play next Elder scrolls on your Mobile through xcloud game pass
Sony will be selling all their consoles everywhere but there will be no games to play on them. Microsoft will be making all the games but there won't be a console sold anywhere in order to play them. How are they going to be a monopoly when ppl around here claim Sony is going to outsell them 3:1 and they only matter in the US and UK?
Don't you have to have the lions share to be a monopoly?
Yeah. Its fucking nothing . Who would have thoughtDoesn’t this part mean that he’s saying MS haven’t shown direct involvement, just MGS is up for grabs and he thinks MS should get involved since they have lots of cash?
The face of Xbox, he could sell ice to the Eskimo's! Jim Ryan on the other hand is like a shady car salesman.
Because they're desperate.MS is buying everything it seems
excuse me sir,in what world have games ,today, should makes more money on playstation? These rumors are now starting to sound very deliberate with a very clear objective, i.e., to discourage people from the PlayStation brand.

you mean aside from the dozens of games that ms has created? sure everyone does this, just think that Sony bought a whole very famous publisher (at least it was when I was little myself) called Psygnosis then naughty dog, bend, guerrilla in short, you buy talents and ips. this is the industryWhen you have an inability to create within, you have to buy.
When you have an inability to create within, you have to buy.
Yes but which Thursday though? 2041?Thursday I heard
So two developers that predominately created games for Sony? Is the same as MGS series which grew to fame on Sony consoles? Yeah ok mate. What is the point of these comments that shit up every thread? Of course they buy and acquire studio's, so has Sony in the past. Is that because they couldn't create from within either? Where is the line as well? Should Sony not have allowed SP to make Infamous 2 or I:SS because they bought them and the IP? Or should they have to tell Insomniac to stop using making Spider-Man games because the IP is just licensed?
Sony buys inFamous dev Sucker Punch
Sony has bought inFamous and Sly Cooper developer Sucker Punch. The US studio, which has been making PlayStation games …www.eurogamer.netSony purchased Insomniac Games for $229M
But still no follow up to Ratchet & Clank (2016)!www.polygon.comhttps://www.videogameschronicle.com...nnounce-theyve-left-playstations-bend-studio/ (Sony Interactive Entertainment purchased Bend Studio in 2000)
On topic, I'm not sure MGS has any legs left. It would be interesting if the rights to the IP only allowed remakes of MGS1/2/3 though. That might get spicy. It also sort of keeps Kojima at a distance and not directly involved, maybe just certain things/changes ran past him. I'm not an ardent MGS fan tbh - I did like the gameplay sandbox of V but I never completed it. I can see this feeling like a slap in the face for the long term MGS fans though, even more so than the year of exclusivity for Rise of the Tomb Raider on Xbox. I would hope it's just a year of exclusivity then multi platform launch.

I’m not changing nothing. Microsoft haven’t created one decent blockbuster IP during last gen. You're a joke lad. There are six links there dating back to 2000. Don't change your argument. It's shit and you know it.
MS is rumoured to be buying everything it seems
I'll wait for announcements. The facts are if you like last gen games there are lots to play, and new ones will be coming soon.
Are you excited yet?
If you can't make them, buy them.
I bet Satya and Phil don't want anything to do with that tainted company.

That's your presumption. Unlike what you believe, I'm really not a fanboy.Oh if this rumor is true he'll have a break down I reckon.
Ideally, these games would be available on all platforms: PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.excuse me sir,in what world have games ,today, should makes more money on playstation?
If we talk about games that should be exclusive to the platform, with the unification of consoles and PCs there is no chance that n exclusive game on the platform Sony would sell more even at the end of the generation.
