That sounds normal to me.salva said:Yes. I tried putting a pic from imgur and it didn't show it. It only showed the direct link to it.
Awesome extension! Thanks.Battersea Power Station said:Better than imgur? Could be, but not yet. I love browser extensions!
There's a really strange problem with the Firefox extension. If you open a new window the min.us logo doubles. It keeps adding a new icon for every window you open, and the icons remain until you quit Firefox. If you open six windows, you'll see six icons.minus said:One of our main goals is to encourage uploading of original content whether its photos, music, files documents etc.. but to upload remote items, we do have chrome / firefox extension for time being. http://min.us/pages/tools

PS: I'm using Nightly.
Yeah, I mean, how would 999 have become a sleeper hit on GAF it it hadn't been for Akselziys (or however you spell it) posting in the official thread for it all the time? I'm sure a lot of GAFers are thankful to him for it (haven't played it myself though).Wads said:To those complaining about the minus guy, I don't see this being any different than a game developer coming and asking for feedback on the gaming side. Most people are already aware of it and he didn't make the thread so no big deal to me. Not that I have any say in the matter anyway, but I don't see what the big deal is.

Will min.us will let me upload 20MB BMPs?

Why wouldn't you convert them to PNG first? BMP is not really a web format.Izayoi said:2560x1600 screenshots.
They don't get to 20MB very often, but abload seems to be the only place that will let me do it.
it should work w/ bmp now as wellhateradio said:Why wouldn't you convert them to PNG first? BMP is not really a web format.
999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors is a visual novel/"escape the room" game for the Nintendo DS that became a sleeper hit on GAF's gaming side last year. Apparently it had a really good story...Futureman said:What is 999?

PatMcAtee said:I use MediaFire for image hosting. It can be used to host any other files types as well, with the only limit being 200 MB per files. You can batch upload also and use direct linking (for pics). There are no limits to the amount of files you can upload.
Your files stay online forever as long as you log in every month also.
tokkun said:Is there any way you can specify when min.us resizes your photo thumbnails or to what size? Most of my pictures get 900 pixel thumbnails, but when I upload something that's 1200 pixels wide, it doesn't get a thumbnail.
When I want to dump a bunch of pictures into GAF's photography thread it's annoying to have one picture be a lot bigger than the others.

minus said:Hi,
We have a specific algorithm for resizing to optimize loading time, but you can always click on "View original" to open up the full size image. We keep original files.
Cheers
giga said:Can you add a direct link to the sidebar here? Right now it requires an extra step since you have to click 'Share' first.

Imgur does this which keeps me using them more often than minus.

tokkun said:I understand that, but it is irrelevant to my complaint. The problem I have is that the size of the thumbnail image I get when I use the 'Forum Code' option is not always uniform. For images that are very large, I will always get a 900 pixel wide thumbnail. However for images that are, say 1200 pixels, I do not get the thumbnail but rather the full size image. When I link multiple images in a forum thread, I would like them all to have thumbnails of the same width.
It would be even better if I could specify that thumbnail width, as I can do with Gallery. NeoGAF's photography assignment threads will not allow me to post a thumbnail larger than 800 pixels, so I can't use min.us unless I want to manually create all my own thumbnails a priori.
minus said:Thanks, I understand but many users actually complained to us when we setup the "Thumbnail" for forum code...and said they wanted the original image in there. WE'll try to figure out a way for you to tweak this in the future though!
element said:I'd love to see a wordpress sidebar widget, similar to the flickr ones.
tokkun said:From a user interface perspective, it doesn't seem too hard to me. Just include an option in the settings that says:
For images larger than X pixels horizontally, generate a thumbnail of Y pixels when linking to forums.
where X and Y are user definable values. For users like me, I would set X=Y=800. For users that want no resizing, they just set X=9999 or some other large value. Non-power users need never alter the default values, so the ease of use is not impacted. Based on the behavior of min.us now, I take it that you already have such an algorithm in place, but users do not get to change the values of X and Y.
Perhaps this is very difficult to implement on your backend - I wouldn't know. But I think the concept is easy to understand.
UrbanRats said:Holy shit, didn't know there was a minus' dude on GAF.
I've been using it since the death of "Imagehost" and i'm loving it so far.
It's quick and the images do stay up for a long time, perfect for a quick image response or the like.
