min.us (better than imgur?)

I used min.us a lot for the weekly NFL threads, but kept using imgur for the extension. Nice to know min.us has one. The min.us files I uploaded stuck around while the imgur ones would be gone by the end of the week. And they wouldn't let me upload clear PNGs while minus would.
 
I was originally not a fan of Minus because it seemed like organizing images was too hard and deleting shit accidentally was too easy. Now that Minus has improved a bit and imgur only displays your last 200 or so images (unless you pay)... fuck that, bailout.gif. Minus having a firefox extension seals the deal.

And it seems Minus has a presence here at GAF. Much love, had to scan in some big-ass images the other day and Minus was lightning quick...
 
Just registered, seems pretty damn good so will probably take over for me from abload which has been messing up for me quite a bit recently.

^_^ -- its 200mb per file, unlimited files and freE!! we're def more file focused but upload ur gifs away.

Please help us spread the word and go crazy on the 200mb per file limit + unlimited uploads/downloads!
 
The only problem with minus is that there doesn't seem to be an easy way to resize images like there is on imgur. Also, the extension is very underdeveloped compared to the imgur equivalent... it doesn't pick up images in some cases and sometimes won't upload.

Still, if they can work out the kinks, it'll be great... until they start imposing limits as well because they need to make money.

thanks, we'll have those functions soon!

In terms of the "limits" , there is 200mb per file limit and nothing else, so go crazy

Well, I hope you guys can find some kind of freemium model that works for you guys. :)
Imgur's "solution" of hiding pictures is horrible!
 
I tried uploading a 5.5 MB GIF and it failed because it was an incorrect format.

I'll be sticking with imgur for the foreseeable future.

I don't have the file in question on this computer, but I was able to upload it later. I did have the same problem with a second file which went through after a number of attempts.

After the error message comes up, the uploader will just sit at 99%.
 
I'll give this a try, I've been using imgur myself, and the size/quality limit(?) forces me to use abload often, hope this will be better.

Can u please send us the file via info@minus.com so we can investigate, sounds very bizarre.

Maybe we should disable image processing for gifs.

This is fucking awesome. The right click and "upload with" button was the only thing I was missing. I have uploaded quite a few gifs that worked just fine btw, haven't had a problem yet.

In theory this should make me ditch imgur completely and I do like min.us but I'm not switching.

-The extension should make image editing optional, I have an imgur extension that simply uploads the picture in a new tab without me having to hit "save and upload"

-Min.us will upload a picture and just show it to you...you have to go clicking and digging to get the direct link to do anything with it in min.us. Imgur is better in how it displays the direct link next to the image.

I like the drag and drop-ness of min.us and I believe it has a larger file allowance which is good but those extra make it feel like a step backward.

Imgur also has drag and drop.

Minus might be useful later on when I want to upload files other than images.
 
It's usually gifs for min.us and pics for imgur (mainly because of the uploader extension), for me.

Is there a similar firefox addon for min.us?

There are many advantages for minus I know, but I can't make the transition right now.

Once some trivial kinks are ironed out, such as thumbnails disappearing, I will reconsider.

We have extension for Firefox but it is a bit behind. Will have improvements soon.

firefox extension is still broken. It doesn't work when you're trying to upload from a straight picture URL.
 
*Sigh*

This is how it goes with every new image hoster. Offering tons of options and free unlimited bandwidth until a couple months later, they have to downgrade because they can't afford the costs.
 
Thank god the days of photobucket and Imageshack are over, is all I can say. I've been loving imgur for the past few months and min.us seems pretty damn awesome. :)
 
Can you make an option to always have the "share" part expanded? It's always an extra click for me to get the direct link or bbcode.

Imgur shows you it without requiring an extra click so I tend to use it over min.us.

Are you sure? I just uploaded a 24-bit PNG and then downloaded it to confirm that they are the same file.

I looked at their hashes and SHA-1s match.
