Minecraft movie announced for March 4, 2022.

That date is March 4, 2022. Does it sound distant? We beg to differ! It’s only 1053 days. Or about 34 months, or 150 weeks, or a million and a half minutes. Not that we’re counting, of course. Besides, it turns out that making a live-action, full-length feature film is really complicated!

So, what do you have to look forward to, roughly 25,000 hours from now? Well, as you devour your movie snack of choice (we like a suspicious stew with a side of square watermelon), we’ll tell you the story of a teenage girl and her unlikely group of adventurers. After the malevolent Ender Dragon sets out on a path of destruction, they must save their beautiful, blocky Overworld. Sounds ambitious! Luckily, the very talented director Peter Sollett (Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist) will be making sure everyone stands in the right place and delivers award-worthy performances. No pressure! Also, we’re partnered with Warner Bros, a company that’s been around the block. So to speak. What we’re trying to say is, this movie is in very capable hands!

Since we’re a game developer first, making a movie will be new and very exciting. And while the movie has to be different from the game (otherwise, you’d be in for an infinite movie in very low resolution) one thing will definitely be the same. We want to make the movie — just as we make the game — for you. We’re inspired by countless things, but none as much as the incredible stuff our community creates in Minecraft every day. So keep it coming!

In summary: the movie has a date. It has a director. It has an official storyline, and we’re NOT AT ALL COUNTING THE DAYS TO THIS MONUMENTAL EVENT. 1053, 1052, 1051...

What will they be doing in the movie? Building houses and then blow them off with dynamites?

I don't think minecraft's art style would make a visually appealing movie to be honest. They're really going to have to deviate considerably from the look of the game.

Minecraft isn't near as toxic as other kid's games so I'm cool with a minecraft movie, actually the game is pretty chill and teaches some interesting stuff especially the survival mode, gathering resources and building amazing stuff inside an infinite world all with a beautiful background music, infinitely better than other toxic shit like fortnite or brawl stars.

The Story Mode of the game was enjoyable enough and could easily be a movie for children. And sure it definitely isn't for everyone, but let's not forget movies like the Emoji movie exist.

So, is our female teenaged protagonist to be named Steve, or will Steve essentially be Robin Williams' character from Jumanji?

Or, more likely, will they give up on trying to get people to call him anything other thab "that Minecraft guy"?

I'm old...but I can't imagine this being relevant still in 2022. Unless...they are coming out with a Minecraft 2 or something.

Sonic, now Minecraft.

Isn't there someone in that business that asks: "Do people want this?" and someone smart answers: "Hell no!"

Sells 10s of millions of copies per year, every year. There’s continually new kids being born, a growing population, it’s digital Lego and will just continue to get bigger.

Don’t see Minecraft going anywhere.

I'll take this over a Fortnite movie...but let's be honest, we'll probably be getting one of those in due time.
