Minecraft PS4 out NOW in the EU

So far, I'm enjoying this version. The first thing I did was go into survival to earn some achievements then after a few minutes I switched to creative to start building a city.

I haven't explored the world yet to see how large it is though.

Had a quick look last night and I think it went from -2500 to something like +3560
In a single axis so it is indeed way bigger than the ps360 version....

need to try this

Edit: couldnt get this to work... lame.

Just tried this and it doesn't work for me.

Yeah it's a weird one, have had a few mates try the same and it hasn't worked for them either. Just pure luck i guess.

Has anyone got world migration working? When I try it says (rough translation) "no migration data found - on PS3/Vita edition send to migration storage and then try to download again on PS4 edition"

I tried uploading to my PS+ storage but no difference. I had a look on PS3 edition to see if there was some option in there but don't see anything :/

Was there a voucher in the PS3 disc version to be able to play it?

Could I go and rent the disc version to play it on my PS3 and then download it for cheap on the PS4?

I guess the PS3 version is missing a patch to do that.

I've only ever played on the ps3, So the PS4 version feels like it goes on forever.

Loving it so far.

Even got some of my ps3 texture packs to download by going through the whats new on PS4.

Is this a big deal? Were the worlds noticeably limited on PS360? I'll get the upgrade for the kids if it so.

Edit: Thanks for reply, MasterBalls. I'll just get it. Why not eh.
Yea, basically 6x longer and 6x wider map will make for a pretty significant boost in explorability. Your kids will appreciate it, I'm sure.

I think I read that u have to wait 24 hours before trying the download. I'm giving it a shot tomorrow. In the mean time if u work it out lemme know. :)

I did a few tests with Minecraft PS3 a few months back for personal research purposes

With a completely flat, quadratical world, going one from side to the other, you'd need 3.5 minutes to traverse it when running and 7.5 minutes when walking slowly. That's with a world size of 862x862 blocks.

so with 6x longer and wider maps:

running: about 20 minutes
walking: about 45 minutes

that's with completely flat maps, and moving constantly. not too shabby I guess. when playing normally, of course you'd have mountains and lakes and whatnot in your way.

It's a bit shitty of them to not have a true cross-buy system IMO, and make people pay for an upgrade. I mean they've made 453450 times more money that many indies who give upgraded versions away for free.

Probably because they had to outsource the work for these ports.

Yep, there is a
dragon
to defeat in the end. It's entirely optional if you want to go down that path or not though. but from what I see it's not easy and would take you a while to get to that stage to be able to go there and stand a chance.

It's also really terrible and not worth attempting.

Microsoft has made a gazillion dollars; why can't they give me Windows 8 upgrade for free?

I have it for Mac but playing it online w friends is a hassle. Considering ps4 version. Are there any Minecraft for ps4 psn exchange threads?

You could make one? Check the OT dibs thread, you could even make it if you liked. Discussion seems pretty cool around MC considering what a huge game it is.

So did a lot of indie developers. Take the vita version of Don't Starve, for example. It was outsourced, but when it eventually released, it was free for anyone that had the ps4 version.
Also really good port. Blitworks are the best.

Also, I guess if you sell as well as Minecraft you basically get to throw the PSN update rules away?

Can anyone confirm if multiplayer allows for a persistent open "world" that me and my friends could jump in and out of at will over the course of multiple play sessions?

As in, can we create a "world" and join it whenever we want, build, destroy, explore, etc. Then leave. Then a friend comes online later on their own and see's all the changes that were made?

Appears to be available in us in about 6 hours. Sweet, never tried Minecraft before, I'm sure the kids will like it regardless if I do :)

UPDATE ON THE VITA VERSION RELEASE DATE
Minecraft: Playstation Vita Edition should be with us in a few weeks. As soon as we have a more accurate date we’ll let you know. Sorry for the delay. If you already own Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition you get it for free.

Bah. Either that's a LOT of bugs to be fixed, or my inkling was right and they've basically been ignoring it to get the PS4/XB1 versions out.

That's definitely big.

Well yeah, my thoughts exactly. Still sucks. They need a bigger staff, they'll be having to keep 5 separate versions of the game up to date with new content.
I agree, they need more staff. They are spreading thin on platforms. I am glad they added PlayStation to their arsenal, but it also means 4 times as many platforms as when they began.

Sigh... Yes, there is evidently a financial justification. But considering many devs have made a nice gesture when it comes to "upgrades", you'd think that Mojang could have too maybe, considering the insane profit Minecraft has already made.
