MLB 2014-2015 Offseason |OT| Playoff Dreaming

Angels are open to trading CJ Wilson. Angels want to upgrade their SP

SAN DIEGO -- Angels left-hander C.J. Wilson is available in trade, rival GMs say, causing some to wonder whether they might be trying to set things up for a big run at a bigger pitcher, either via free agency (Max Scherzer, James Shields) or trade.

The Angels have a fine team -- their 99 regular-season wins topped baseball -- but starting pitching depth is a concern. So they'd have to replace Wilson if they were able to trade him

Wilson seemed to lose favor from some quarters of the organization when he capped a poor second half by allowing three first-inning runs in the decisive Game 3 ALDS loss to he Royals, and it wasn't a good sign of faith when legendary Angels manager Mike Scioscia removed him after only 2/3 of an inning in the biggest game of the year.

He offers durability and regular-season numbers at $36 million over the next two years. But with all the excellent starting pitching available, especially via trade -- from three Padres starters to possibly a few of four Reds starters to possibly Nats star Jordan Zimmermann and others -- it's a jammed market.

The Angels have suggested they aren't inclined to eat any of his $18 million annual salary, so it may be difficult. And considering the glut of available starters, as one rival GM put it, "Good luck."

So the O's are in a weird situation. Duquette wants the Blue Jays job and the Jays are interested in him. However this week he is running the O's at the meetings.

Puig can have a video game cover, lol.

I hope this year's winter meetings are as hectic as last year's. That was a fun week.

Rick Hann from the sounds of it will try to be making your wish come true. Been teasing all week that the white sox plan to have a crazy active winter meetings and likely will have a number of trades.
