3 MORE WINS AND HE'S GOT THE RING!
I honestly don't know which is worse. The Giants winning another title or this man getting a ring.

Yeah, last night was rough. I have had doubts about Shields all postseason and last night just cemented my fear. His ERA is a now 'stellar' 15.00. I'm already counting Game 5 as a loss. The bill on all those innings pitched this year has come due.

The Giants hitters just scare me. Sandoval can hit anything...he doesn't care if it's in the strike zone or not. And Pence....fuck that guy. He is so good and I hate him for it.

We better win tonight or this thing could be over quickly. I hate saying that but there is no way to sugar coat it.

This pretty much. Shields is not worth the money.

As a Rockies fan, I'm having flashbacks.

We got a game to play tonight KC gaf. Lets do this shit. No more crying in our Boulevard. Get your head up off that delicious plate of burnt ends.

Shhhh, no tears. Only baseball now.

LETS FUCKING GO ROYALS!!!!!

As a Rockies fan, I'm having flashbacks.

What the Rockies did in 2007 was magical. Sure, getting swept in the WS is no fun but that doesn't lessen the accomplishments of that team. Yet that is all anyone remembers. "Don't be the 2007 Rockies" is what my friends are saying. So what? Just GETTING to the World Series is a great accomplishment and there are teams that would kill to have the opportunity to play in one. Sure, you want to win it when you get there....of course. But it just kind of annoys me when people act like if you lose the World Series your total season was a waste.

(Yes I'm butthurt from last night and trying to make myself feel better)

Well... if we don't win, it definitely still wasn't a waste. The Royals are still the 2014 AL Champs no matter what. BUT... we're gonna win tonight, dammit! Tonight we win, then we take 2 of 3 in SF.

That was tough. Dang, Shields. I'm grateful to him for being such a workhorse and in no small part getting us here. But under the actual glare of October, it's clear that he has a hard time handling the pressure. Especially when you see him in contrast to Madison Bumgarner. Holy shit, that guy is like Mike Tyson... the 8-Bit version of Mike Tyson. Just this completely unflappable, invincible final boss. There MIGHT be some way to get to him, but if so, it's some tiny little opportunity somewhere. Like, maybe his shortstop bobbles the ball and you get a runner on. But it only happens once a game, and then MB spits even hotter fire at you for the rest of the inning.

Hindsight is 20/20 and all, but damn, that was a bad matchup.

What I do know, though, is that while Yordano Ventura is no Madison Bumgarner (nobody is), he CAN be brilliant a lot of the time (most of the time in fact), and he handles pressure well. And I think we have a great chance of winning tonight and winning the World Series too.

This is what we do today:

And tonight as a fanbase and as a city, we double down on the optimism and ferocity.

not feeling too bad about last night.

ate one of these this morning.

IT'S THE DAWN OF A NEW DAY, PEOPLE
WE GOT THIS

Shields just really isn't that great, but he's certainly better than what he showed last night. Had no command at all, it's clear a simulated game may have done him well. Too much rest.

This is why I dislike tying up absurd money in one starter- what happens if he has an off game? Meanwhile, Bumgarner is basically unhittable, Lester got shelled, and Kershaw was pretty bad too. It's a crap shoot.

Cheer up, the Royals just feel like the team of destiny this year. I still like them.

I'm a Giants fan that is out of the loop when it comes to baseball "politics". Do people hate the Giants because they've been winning a lot or do they hate the players? Maybe the fans?

Mostly this:

2010: Win the World Series
2011: Shitshow
2012: Win the WS, despite being overmatched through most of the playoffs, and win with errors, misplays, etc.
2013: Shitshow
2014: Make it back to the WS on errors, misplays again come playoff time

Its known as the even year curse, and its in full swing here. No team stands a chance. All kidding aside, I think this year there was a lot of momentum for teams that hadn't been to the dance in so long. Royals, Pirates (did make it last year), Orioles, Angels. People wanted any matchup besides Cards/Dodgers/Tigers/Giants.

No, I don't think anyone hates the players or the fans. The players are a pretty lovable band of misfits. Actually, I don't know if anyone really hates the Giants, per se, but if they do, it's because of their recent record, yeah. And because in this specific WS, they're up against the ultimate underdogs.

But I think the Giants have incurred far less "success hate" than most teams that go on extended runs, for example the Cardinals or Yankees.

I'm not one to blame the umpires, but Shields had a few borderline pitches that weren't called strikes early. That may have got into his head a little bit. Buster Onley was on a local radio show this morning and compared him to Verlander in the sense of sometimes these pitchers press too hard and end up hurting themselves in these big games. I do agree that Shields isn't that great. He has lost the velocity on this fastball and he relies on his change up too much. If his fastball isn't effective he is kinda fucked. I am thankful for him and what he has brought to our team this year, but his postseason has been awful. I won't be sorry to see him go to another team next year (I hope we have the sense enough NOT to sign him for big money and long term. That would be a mistake).

I can't speak for other people, but it's probably due to your recent success. You have great players, a great manager, and great fans (from what I see on TV).

I don't think anyone hates the Giants themselves, it's just that it's getting boring seeing the same teams in the World Series over and over.

It's not as bad as the Tigers though. At this point if the Tigers are in the World Series it's not even worth watching because you already know the NL team is going to win.

It should be noted though that SF was doing well in 2011 until Posey went down for the season with that ankle injury. 2013 was similar until the combination of Pagan going down, Posey just being average for the second half of that season, and the Dodgers' insane post-Puig run had SF fall out of contention.

As for you last statement, what's funny is that's the sentiment every year and in 2010 everyone wanted GIants/Rangers because it wasn't the Phillies or the Yankees.

Wow, so the Marlins guy spent $3k for the ticket and then left in the 7th inning. And the Royals management last night offered him a top private suite if he'd take it, or any merch he wanted if he'd put it on instead of his stupid Marlins gear, and he refused. He has six identical jerseys that all say "Marlin Man" on the back. And, he's going to be in the same seat tonight and in SF and back here for 6 and 7 if they happen. And obviously, he has too much goddamn money!

At least the management didn't force him wear Royals gear just because he was sitting where he was sitting.

I wish I had enough money to even afford to travel to a WS, buy a ticket, and leave in the 7th.

Yea I'm not in that tax bracket either. Even if I had the money, though, I'd probably spend it other places. This guy sorta has a reputation to live up to now, though. It's probably good business for his practice.

I wonder if any teams will take action against that. His behavior is a little belligerent, especially chosing seats that are on camera the entire night. I dont buy the nice guy with money just likes sports story. I think he wants to provoke.

He's providing more investment into his own team than the team owner is.

I can't believe anyone was leaving before the end last night. After that last strike we bolted, but ya gotta stay at least till the end.

Yeah, it was a shitty game, but it's the fucking world series. Come on people.

Hoping tonight works out better.

At least miami guy will blend into a Giants crowd more so he becomes less of an eye sore, assuming he wears the same shit.

What the hell was up with the grunting noises during pitches last night? Really annoying.

I really hope Ventura keeps his cool. He's young, and might not handle the pressure of pitching in a must win game.

Whatever nerves the kid had were exorcised after that Wild Card game. That was Yost's plan all along. Throw Ventura to the wolves, break him, win the game improbably, then have him prepared to throw a complete game shutout in Game 2 of the World Series.
