If KC wins, that would really be a death blow to The Tigers. All that money spent trying to win a ring and here is this perennial loser winning it all.

To be fair the Tigers have been a horribly unbalanced team in general. They have a couple of really really good players, but they have so many holes and have had holes for years that they overlook such as their bullpen or defense. They make up for it with their talented stars, but as soon as one of those stars slumps the whole team goes into a slump. Thus they can win games over a season, but since they live or die by those stars once you reach the post season if one of them falters the team as a whole falls apart and boom it's over.

In general though the Tigers really only have 1-2 more years to compete and then they are going to enter a long dark age where their best hope will to be to spend in scouting as they will be getting decent draft picks as Miggy and Verlander and going to handcuff that team terribly unless they increase their payroll even more.

I mean if you look at the last 5 years of the royals only two things really changed

1. Their talented younger players got more experience and got better.
2. They got decent pitching.

which the pitching allowed them to go from a losing team to a winning team without their offence changing really at all.

i don't know man, I think the Royals could go undefeated the entire season yet get mauled by the Tigers.

I've been reading up on the Royals trying to figure out how they're doing it as I haven't been following the season super closely. Obviously, their defense is #1, their starting pitching is really good, but my god... their bullpen is unbelievable. Look at the stats on these guys:

Greg Holland http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/30945/greg-holland 1.41 ERA / 0.91 WHIP
Wade Davis http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/28957/wade-davis 1.00 / 0.85
Kelvin Herrera http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/32029/kelvin-herrera 1.41 / 1.14

Is this the greatest bullpen in recent memory or what?

Hahahahaha, this might be the worst World Series ever in terms of seeing so many bandwagoner fans for a team.

It would be cool to see the Royals win the World Series though, just to see the KC fans dump them once they have the post-championship slump.

Ask any KC fan to name a player that was on the team before this year, and the universal answer will probably almost always be Prince Harry.
The only thing this post made me consider was the fact that I have been to nearly 1000 Royals games. Season tickets add up. And to think I only saw 5 games this year, half of them in Seattle.

Sup, KC Bandwagon fan here. I've lived in KC For 20 yrs and I didn't even know Baseball was still a sport TBH (too busy winning Soccer championships) This lineup has made me a fan of the the lineup as well as the sport. Sorry noone gave a shit when your team won the championship, there's no reason to be upset.

I love that both stadiums this Series are so visually appealing. Kauffman is awesome, but it's hard to beat that view of the bay over the center field wall in San Fran. You guys are spoiled.

Hey, in Atlanta, we still have the ghetto right next to Turner Field for the next two seasons!

Ya the view over the bay definitely wins. Kauffman is pretty fugly bro...

That is a terrible opinion. Everyone loves the renovated Kauffman. Folks were complimenting the hell out of it when we hosted the All Star game.

There isn't a bad seat in all of Kauffman. That doesn't hold true for AT&T (sections 331-336 in left field block view of an entire baseline).

Yea I dont know how someone can dislike the place since the renovation. It's great!

Why do writers/media always say in every postseason 7-game series preview, "*Insert ace* could pitch 3 times in the series!" ?

No, no he's not. Pitchers almost never do that anymore.

I thought Bumgarner was "country-strong"?

A beautiful ball park adds so much to the enjoyment of watching Baseball. Always makes me sad that the Blue Jays play in such a boring lifeless stadium =(

Bumgarner's made it clear he would pitch on short rest any time, but not really his choice at the end of the day. Ain't Bochy's style.

But I kinda agree with you. Pitching a guy like that in a series is too much of a risk imo.

The old way of thinking has never really left baseball, especially the pundits who are probably more used to those times

I can at least remember Chris Carpenter starting 3 games in the 2011 world series, so it isn't that unheard of amymore

It's sad because the location of the Skydome should lend itself to a nice atmosphere. But when you're actually in there it just feels like a bunker. You only get a small sampling of what might-have-been when the roof is open as you see the top of the CN Tower looming overhead.

The location is pretty much spot on for a great experience, no issues there at all, so you're right on that all changing when you're inside the Rogers Centre.
