I will never state something that is not my opinion just to inflame people (which is my definition of trolling) but I do think that having a lively discussion with people having different viewpoints is more interesting than 5 pages of "OMG...FIRST DAY FOR ME" so I tend to jump into threads where I have a strong opinion on the subject.

I honestly don't think this minute of gameplay footage shows anything really interesting or new compared to COD4. That might be fine as COD4 is a well tuned/polished/60fps shooter but running in circles around small maps shooting people in the back is just not very appealing to me anymore.

The thing is there is no discussion. There's no real argument to be had over design decisions, changes or what have you. So you have a bunch of people going zomg cool, and haters. I mean look at your post and the assumptions you make on a jumbled 60 second video! There's nothing to bite into yet! Just look at the pretty pictures for now. Your unending rage for the masses love of this game will have to wait until we get so more information to really sink into. Until then we're just gonna poke some fun so lighten up!

Its always been my stance that the game would run at 720p, on the 360. Note CoD2 was true 720p at launch, and CoD3 was also 720p on the 360, while the ps3 version was (I believe) 600p. The LE art book says its basically the same engine with some fine-tuning, so there's no reason why it shouldn't have run at 720p on the 360.

Don't know about COD2, but COD3 actually ran at an ever so slightly higher res on PS3. http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=46241

Whether or not the 360 would run the game at 720p or not is moot considering the consistent framerate IW was going for. That is, that they wouldn't sacrifice a slight bump in resolution for a lower framerate. Both versions had dips in the singleplayer, so I don't think they would want to have more of those for something that 99.5% of their audience doesn't care for or would notice.

Anyways, the video looks amazing. Hopefully the variety of killstreak rewards won't overshadow the ground combat.

for a game thats coming out almost a year later? yes. are we all of the sudden supposed to lower expectations when we've seen the bar raised higher?

I wasn't aware that 60fps gameplay, well received controls, a robust community, exciting gameplay and a functional multiplayer add up to a lowered bar. Fuck me for having shitty math!

You might have been able to say this about the earlier trailers (which looked great by the way for the single-player part) but this is in fact real gameplay footage so I do think it is very indicative of how the game will play...at least it is enough for some speculation.

i'm speaking graphic's wise. and I'm looking at KZ2

This also runs at double the framerate, and when it comes to satisfying multi gameplay there's no comparison. COD>KZ2 (I'm talking about COD4 here, MW2 will be on another level).

I don't get it

Probably has to do with me never picking up Cod4. It will probably be a great game, just wasn't blown away by this footage. 60fps is always awesome.

He was obviously talking about the graphics and the (in my opinion) very limited gameplay. Following your argument on all the things you mentioned the bar has not really been raised since quake-world.

just watched......

This vid really restored my faith in the game. I was disappointed that IW would use the exact same engine from COD4, but it looks like they were right when they said the improvements were physics based.

From what I can tell, yeah, visually it looks mostly the same as COD4 (prolly some upgraded textures and such), but everything looks so much more...chaotic. More stuff blowing up, curtains blowing in the wind, explosions/particle effects greatly improved, etc. As for perks, sticky grenades sold me. Can't wait! :D

Haha.

60FPS
Flawless controls
Lots of playlist/game mode options
Multiplayer that isn't filled with a million clusterfucks

I like KillZone 2 quite a bit, but I think you'd be better off avoiding direct comparisons.

Edit: Beaten by Ultimo hombre. I see we are of the same mind.

Every online multiplayer game is capable of being a clusterfuck, there has been no COD game that would make me think otherwise.

I'm calling shotgun in the Gaf clan from now, I don't wana hear no space yadda yadda yadda

Speaking of Clans, hopefully they improve the clan system this time around. Hate to bring up KZ2 because of the hostility the game seems to have in this thread, but the clan system in that was almost perfect. And while I'm on it, give us Halo 3 like stat tracking pls.:D

Big Team Standoff Heavies.

You people know what I'm talking about.

This video gives me the same awesome feeling that 4's first videos always gave me.

Not really digging the stylized HUD though. COD4's was simple, effective and non-intrusive. This looks a little prettier but also a bit less practical.

The fuck if I care anyway, I reload reflexively after almost every kill :lol

Edit: Were all of those unlocks for kill streaks? Just what the hell are we looking at? Non-destructive bonuses? Ammo? Temporary body armor or something?

No. It's an auto-aim fest.
Autoaim is literally the only thing that makes console FPS games tolerable compared to their mouse-aiming PC counterparts. The day autoaim stops being standard on console FPS games is the day I stop playing console FPS.

Besides, it's more like aim-assist, because you're still choosing WHO you want to shoot, whereas auto-aim tends to select who you want to shoot for you.

There are different implementations of it. I think that BF1943 for example has no aim-assist but uses slightly enlarged hit-boxes that scale up a bit with distance. Not positive about that though.

It's looking great.

If they release maps like shipment and killhouse ever again, though, I'll blow up Infinity Ward myself. Those maps were fun once... Then never again. When you have to cycle through them repeatedly? May god have mercy on your soul.

I'm not one of the players who liked MG turrets on unbalanced maps (downpour), killwhoring, nadewhoring etc that really don't show anyone's skill. There are some astonishingly good players on COD4; not a lot, but enough, and yet all their tactics boil down to is whoring most of the time.

The lag between shots is still noticeable, though I don't think this will change in online FPSes for awhile. I made far too many impossible shots that were well outside a hit box.

Are you insane? :lol

One is a 50 million dollar exclusive game with massive development time and full backing by the hardware developer, the other is a multiplatform 3rd party game that's been in the works, for what, a couple years at best and runs on a relatively old engine?

Hell yes, MW2 looks impressive.

Killzone 2 was in full production for 18 months, with a budget that did not exceed $40 million.

Now, please stop with KZ2>CoD, or CoD>KZ. Such a comparision makes no sense at all.

Anyone who played both games for some time know that they are vastly, vastly different.
I love CoD, and I've played every single one made by Infinity Ward. And I like Killzone as well. I've played both games just enough so I could try make a judgment on which one is better. The thing is, they aim for a completely different experiences and have a completely different multiplayer experience.

Anyone who thinks he can just say Cod>KZ, or KZ>CoD is very wrong and fails to understand the nature of both games.

Call of Duty 4/MW2 are a pick up and play style of games. You get into a game very fast, you don't need to play with people you know to get a great multiplayer experience, you can customize your character to the exact way you want to play, games are completed very fast and it has a better sense of rank progression than Killzone.

On the other hand, Killzone 2 is tailored for clan games and to play with people you know and with whom you can actually communicate. It's something, IMO, that's between COD and SOCOM, but to a point that it's very different than both of the mention games.

I play both and will continue to do so. CoD4 when I want to kill some time, Killzone 2 when I want to invest a bigger chunk of my free time playing with people I know/can communicate and talk to with. They are both excellent, excellent games and are both worth buying.

When you hit LT and your crosshair jumps two inches to the left, that's a problem. A tiny smidge of autoaim is OK, but COD takes it to an unacceptable level for me. It makes it an easy game for people who can't aim properly with sticks. Some people like it, some don't.
