Modern Warfare 2 Gameplay Footage. Spoilers within, click accordingly.

OMGGGGGG

Now my hype has officially started. Sure the singleplayer gameplay looked great, but THIS is why I'm anticipating MW2. Looked SO GOOD.

Holy shitballs, I always used to think to myself "being able to call in an AC130 in MP would be awesome!" I am so happy (plus customizing your streak loadout is even awesomer).

I am also glad they changed the HUD (although I'm not ecstatic about the design), I was somewhat disappointed when they had the same HUD from 4 in the E3 demo.

This is going to be the most over hyped game in the history of gaming, lol (coming to three platforms!). Don't get me wrong, it's going to be an excellent game, but people are acting like this game is going to be 10x better than ever other FPS that's been out and this is the pinnacle FPS or something (not saying it can't be the best). Just look at the comments on the youtube page. To me, it was incredible that the Limited Edition was the top seller on Amazon.com. That says a lot to me... Activision is about to make cruise ship filling amounts of cash off this game.

Looks great, but I still don't understand their logic behind giving the guys that play the best, even better weapons?

It absolutely doesn't make any sense that if you get 11 kills in a row, you get a fucking bomber. You already got 11 kills without dying, if anything the OTHER team NEEDS a bomber to get back into the game. Granted, it's basically taking pity on them, but if the teams are so unbalanced as they are getting such high kill streaks, then I honestly don't know why you'd widen the gap...

It just doesn't make any sense!

Totally agree, it makes the best better and the weak worse. I understand it wants to reward players for playing, but it still bothers me.

That's also why unlocking perks that help an already skilled player become better pisses me off.

At least the singleplayer is still awesome...

It doesn't. It's sub 720 just like Call of Duty, Halo, etc. The only one that doesn't out of the big shooters is Gears of War 2.

Every pixel counter has Killzone 2 at 720p. Hell, there would be huge commotion if the game wasn't at that res. Just look at all the posts bringing up 600p like it makes any difference to most players.

It's not like you have to be really good to get experience. You don't need to win to unlock perks, and if you can't get any experience by getting kills then you're probably not that great anyway.

Possibly best *action* FPS ever. COD games are like the good summer popcorn flicks.

and for the comments about the level balancing with perks and weapons, keep in mind that the best overall weapon, M16, is available default. Some really great perks are handed out early to balance that as well.

Long as theres a bazillion different loadouts, perks, customizations.
Wide variety of maps, gametypes, and server gameplay options.

I'm happy. Give me a hardcore server with killstreak options set to minimum of 20, no shifting spawns and we're golden.

While perks can help, you can still get the drop on other players with the starting weapons, that's the beauty of CoD4 yeah the other player may have a 'better' gun than me but i can still take him down.

But if you're on a team that sucks, any chance of coming back is destroyed when a god damn helicopter and air strike flies overhead.

I never cared about the martydom issue - just the killstreak bonuses.

It only takes a shot or two to kill, yes - but the winners had unkillable auto turrets...

Especially since you get the best assault rifle and (arguably) smg at the very start :lol

Agreed. The M16 and Mp5 are some of the best weapons in the game, you get them very early. Some of the early perks are the best in the game as well.

Get UAV jammer, silencer, deep impact and go wreck someones face...through walls.

I shall take the time to actually get good at this one. Got started with CoD4 too late in the game. :\

I'll admit, half my kills are carefully placed claymores and laughing at people who don't check the corners they're in.

Visually, the game looks good enough. Still there's one thing I wish IW would do: make better looking explosions!

Wow at the AC-130 perk. Just the other day I was thinking how cool it would be if after a crazy amount of kills you could call a B2 Bomber instead of Jets to blow up everything on the map.

Eh, I was mostly talking about perk and weapon unlocks.

As for streak bonuses, I think they work pretty well. They don't really get that many kills, and they don't win the game for a team. Plus, it only takes one player to get a kill streak to unlock the bonus for their entire team, even if they're losing.

Really. Instantly I could see it looked much better. Graphically it looks better, with more detailed models and much more effects on-screen, as well the brighter look to the game adds a lot as well

Why is that a bad thing? COD4 is still one of the best looking games around.

Honestly, I don't notice a massive increase in fidelity. But it's certainly no slouch.

People are still saying it looks like CoD4. Visually, it still looks very very similar..

It's not even like it's a jump from Forza 2 to 3 or Uncharted 1 to Uncharted 2...

It's just a large annoyance to have to hide when you're already down, and logically - it doesn't really make sense in terms of competition.

What I didn't like about the screenshots turns out to be my favorite thing about the game in motion.

COLORS. COLORS IN A NEXT GEN CONSOLE SHOOTER. PRAISES TO VIDEO GAME SATAN.

Also, I like to choose to spawn at:

-A random squadmate who's cam I can see

-My base or a captured point

-Randomly generated spot like COD4

Why not go all out and give us all the options? Only IW and Bungie have the common sense to do this.

A TrueSkill system (optional of course) would also be an awesome addition. The way it is now is kinda broken since any crud pie can play enough to level max with just brute force playtime.

Looks just like CoD4.

But the video shown looked pretty damn fun. I may have to give Activision my money (something I don't want to do).

Have you played Half Life 2 Episode 2 or Halo 3?...

Bioshock? Halo 3? MW1 to an extent, but it does look a lot more colorful.

For the love of pete, more auto-aim bs. Even more than before.

1. It is very prevalent in single player, but by design as you are demanded to aim like you're on speed or 100 red bulls. If it bothers you, You can turn it off in single player. This has been the case since I can remember with COD games.

2. It is very very barely in multiplayer. Go ahead and test it. When you "zoom in" in multiplayer your gun does NOT move from the center of the screen (unlike single player with it on). That's why some people were able to cheat by putting a "spot" on their tv. The only occurrence of auto-aim in the game is when somebody leaves your reticule when you already have it on the enemy... it can auto-follow. This happens very very rarely. And personally I find it very distracting as it many times follows behind the player for a brief second and misses. Simply put, the controls are very good and easy to get used to. IW obviously really tweaked the heck out of cod4 on my 360. You just got shot by a guy that is very good with a controller. Yes, they exist. Get over it.

I do wish they completely remove auto-aim in multiplayer in MW2 even though it is such a non-issue with cod4. The only thing it'll do is shut a lot of people up and that would be a beautiful christmas time present from infinity ward to me if they did that.
And no they shouldn't leave it out of single player to be "more hardcore." They should leave it as it is - on at first unless you want to turn it off, which should be as easy as a switch.

Same for me. Shiit. You could give me Cod4 with new maps and weapons and I'll be set. Fuck the expansion-pack talking haters.

I do hope they support the multi more this time around. The lack of any sort of gameplay patch for MW1 kind of ticked me off. We played it steady for five+ months, but certain issues grew increasingly annoying (the m16 of course, but also certain gameplay mechanics in modes like headquarters), and they were never adjusted.

Consequently, we stopped playing the game, as there were no changes to look forward to, and old issues weren't fun to deal with.

You've named about half of them. I'm not saying it's the only one, but the more the merrier.

The list of grey games spans pages. Scrolls even.

Auto-Aim. I love COD4s console implementation of it. No one hates on the lock on system in a slasher, I see this as the same thing.

On PC kill it with fire. It isn't needed.

Something that got to me in the trailer was that you get 50 points per kill. I wonder if that's gonna be standard for deathmatch or is it just another mode? Also 2300 points for sticking someone with a semtex?

I wonder if the values for everything are gonna be higher in this one.

Define 'Casual'.
Well just watch the video. All you have to do is shoot at people with red gamertags. And thanks to analog sticks the slow turning often puts them at a disadvantage, with you pointing the gun directly behind their back. And talk about the RPG - you don't even have to aim at it thanks to the heat-seeking system. It's just like the first Modern Warfare: a solid modern war game for the console audience. But I see less reason to make a sequel with so little change than I do for Left 4 Dead 2. At least that has new weapons and zombies. All I see are more urban maps.

This looks like the place to be this winter for online gaming. I cannot wait for this. What is the GAF consensus; 360 or ps3? I am leaning toward the 360 version just wanna know where most of GAF will be playin.

I do like these suggestions a lot.

Or even choose which squad member to spawn with.

Cod4 tried to be territorial about its spawn locations, which works sometimes and not at all in others depending on how everybody plays. Choice would solve a lot of issues.

Then again, if they let me spawn with a squad member at any time like I could in battlefield: bad company, then I'll pass cause that was just horribly implemented too!
