Modern Warfare Remaster requires Infinity Warfare disc to play

Activision just gave me a reason to not spend a dime on them this year.

I'll be too busy playing Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 anyway...

So like every other physical game you buy this generation?

A lot of people assumed MWR was included via a download code.

It was never a smart thing to assume, of course.
 
Was kind of worried this would happen. I'll wait til it's available standalone, if only because MW is something I just want on my PS4 permanently w/o having to put the disc in everytime.

They've already made various changes, such as announcers and being able to turn off medals on the HUD. IIRC they also said they were changing back the headshot and knife icons. They were both from AW.

Okay, so your complaint was that it didn't have 100% of the original's content. Then you find out it has even more content than the original, and you give a limp, prideful reply that's ignorant to the new information you've learned.

That's exactly what was gonna happen IW would of been dead in the water and the same thing happens when/if MWR goes standalone.

Same goes for next year, say the next entry is Advances Warfare 2 and MWR was released 3 months before it drops, sales would be lower than IW.

MWR is a sleeping giant at this point, who needs another COD this gen? The only other COD entery I would buy would be a MW2 remaster, w@wR or w@w2.

If you think IW would have been dead without MWR... Are people forgetting that even when the sales have slumped each CoD has still sold over 20 million?

It's £70. It's not a free bonus. At that price it's two separate products. It should have come with a digital download code!

Infinite Warfare looked amazing in the gameplay video I've seen. I think it will sell really well even without Modern Warfare remastered.
 
I'm fine with this. After seeing IW trailers, I'm okay with picking it up, and having MW as the bonus and not the other way around.

I'd say the people who buy the physicals are screwed especially if they like to trade in games. You have to keep the disc just to play MWR.

That being said I planned to skip CoD this year anyway and this just gave me more a reason. BF1 for release and Titanfall 2 during a black Friday deal seems fine to me. I prefer the Treyarch games anyway and I know they'll release MWR as a standalone in like 6 months to a year anyway.
 
Hate that you can't buy COD4 separately. Also a sign they don't think the new COD has legs to stand on.

What? The deal for the 30 days early MWR campaign for PS4 isn't just PSN. Various stores, like Gamestop, gave you a code to play MWR's SP early if you paid for your preorder in full.

If you got it from a retailer that allows you to fully pay off the pre order (gamestop) then you can get a code to play it early.

I'm picking my code up on the 5th, I got the physical Legacy Pro edition.
 
Well when you have money this doesn't bother me much at all. I pre-ordered this because of MW but, I also want to play IW thanks to the story trailer. It got me excited for the game. Then the zombies in space trailer and the early access to the multiplayer next week. This game has a lot of content and I just couldn't miss out on it. I will be getting Battlefield 1 and maybe Mafia 3 this week so I'm all good.

Claims EBgames is part of the deal. They will allow people to pick up the codes (if they paid in full), on wednesday. I would still call them just to make sure.

Hey, at least with Call of Duty, I can put $100 down, get IW + Season Pass + MWR versus the $130 option for BF1 which just gets you BF1 and the Season Pass.

Sorry, but that's far scummier in my honest opinion.

Or the $80 editions which is still IW + MWR vs BF1 just giving you some goodies.

Don't even bother. People have built this narrative in their heads that IW is a failure by some unexplainable metric even though they never played it. Also this narrative they've built in their head is infallible and they are completely right and other alternatives are wrong, just because.

Also some also believe that BF1 is the savior of this Fall, completely also forgetting that the last Battlefield game had one of the worst launches of this gen of consoles.
