Modern Warfare Remaster requires Infinity Warfare disc to play

Seems fairly obvious really. Otherwise you could just buy Infinite Warfare, download COD4, then immediately trade the game in. What did you expect?

Fairly obvious besides the fact the edition the Remaster comes in has a price difference.

It's not like you're getting it for free as an add on.

Anyone going nuts about this is crazy. It's Activision's game and they have the right to sell it any way they want to. Complaining is like being pissed off you have to watch a DVD's bonus features on the same disc as the film.

If you're that bothered you can find a copy of the original for a few pounds on PS360. This is business, and it makes perfect sense. Buy it, or don't. This outrage just smacks of entitlement.
This is like people who say "it's the artists vision and they have the right to make anything they want."

Yeah well, no shit Sherlock. And consumers have the right to think it's a fat load of hooey and complain.

I just traded in black ops 3 for $21 at best buy, you can get upto $27 for xbox one version. With my gamers club and coupons, deluxe is gonna cost me like $5 bucks cash.

What I am trying to say is suck my dick activision.
I get what you're trying to say, but Activision already got full price for that copy you bought. You buying a copy by trading in stuff in to best buy and using coupons etc, doesn't look any different on activision's financial reports than someone who paid in full using cash. All you did was tell best buy that peopel want this version of the game, and contributed towards them placing an order for another shipment of this version at full price.

lol

So MWRM is a hub embedded in IW? Or is MWRM still its own program launched from the consoles dashboard just w/ the IW disk in it?

Seems pretty insecure of Activision and IW to think people won't buy both Physical IW and physical MWRM

If I recall correctly it had hundreds of members and only the first page or two had folks playing it, meaning most people in that group didn't buy it (at the time of the screenshot)

Ok I didn't knew about that fact. But I still think that a lot of people will just accept and buy the whole package.

Consumers complain about everything. Shitty or not.

Since I've got IW Legacy edition on preorder on PS4 what does early access to the campaign actually mean? I get unlimited play throughs of the entire campaign until IW launches? Part of the campaign only and the rest comes with the multiplayer via the code in the box on launch day? Something inbetween this?

I'd rather they just had both games on one disc in the box rather than having to download anything else.

Same for those who have no faith in Infinite Warfare, a game that they have never played.
I can't speak for everyone else, but I haven't liked any Call of Duty this version of Infinity Ward has put out. I hated MW3 and couldn't stand anything about Ghosts, and so I have zero faith or interest in Infnite Warfare. I'll try it, but I'm not expecting anything worthwhile.

Calling Infinite Warfare a known turd before it's out is probably a bit much. But even though I'm intrigued by it, I can't help but sympathize given the past IW games. It's not like there's much to hold onto there.

They should go a step further and make it so you can't play MW without beating IW's campaign.

DO IT ACTIVISION
lol, if they really wanted to troll us, make it hardest campaign difficulty or all unlock all achievements/trophies. The salt would be endless.

So, wait. Let's say you buy Infinite Warfare used some time down the line after it's been out for like 6 months. Can you put in that disc and play Modern Warfare remastered? Because if so, wouldn't it just be easier and cheaper to wait?

Jabronis? Wtf is going on here?
It's a more accurate assessment of the people here most of the time. For every 2 decent posters you find, you have 5 GameFAQs rejects.

No because it has to be the Legacy Edition, which requires a one time use code.

Ohh okay. NOW I see the outrage.

From a business perspective it makes sense, but from a consumer perspective it does not.

I would be surprised at all of this but after how Activision treated the Destiny games, this isn't all that surprising.

Complain about what, though? Game company makes new game. Adds old game to the package, makes sure you can't install it then sell the disc and keep playing. If they had put both games on the same disc no one would bat an eyelid.

It's true though. Breaking off from the topic for a moment, the post you quoted is undeniably true. Just hang out by a customer service counter or work retail for a week and someone will complain about just about anything.

I won't lie I don't agree with what acti is doing but I do agree that consumers vote to let companies have the control they have then complain about literally everything. That might be a different convo tho.

This is business.

Sucks, but its an excellent business decision.

only because people accept it. and next time it's going to be worse. It's how we got here to begin with, and this slippery slope aint close to stopping.

at least this isn't the only game in town

I'm essentially getting MW:R for free. I pay $100 for Call of Duty + the season pass every year. This year for $100, I'm getting COD: IW, COD MW:R, and the season pass. This is a win win in my book. Activision is not a stupid company, why sell MW:R separately when they can sell it bundled with the game they've invested heavily in? They are not obligated to sell MW:R separately when they have a brand new COD to sell as well.

Makes perfect sense. They'd be mad not to.

If they were smart, they'd never release a standalone. Means for years anyone who wants get MWR must buy a new copy of IW.

It has to help to at least some degree with used sales. If there are less used copies because even a small amount of people (who wouldn't usually keep games) decide to hang on to the disc. This raises the likelihood of new copy sales even months later.

And let's face it. The few people who do hold out, Most of them will crack a few months later and just buy IW for the remaster.

I'll at least wait a few months and see what happens.

I don't see what the huge deal is. Knowing activision if they sold it stand alone they would price it at $50 anyway.

After the bestbuy gamers club this thing is gonna be around $60 for both.

Because not everyone lives in the US and can use this Best Buy GCU that you speak of?
Food for thought.

Oops forgot about that. Even still. $80 for both is not the end of the world. They would have easily sold it stand alone for $50 and you know this man.

Just look at it this way...

Pretend that the remake ( and it is an actual remake) is the $60 game and the new COD is the bonus game...

This makes sense to me. It was always advertised as cheap bait to get people to buy Infinite Warfare, so why would they let people buy and sell standalone codes on eBay?
