Monster Hunter: Generations announced for 3DS - Coming Summer 2016

So I haven't been following X very closely. I'm aware it lacks Grank, but what's it got content wise exactly? All I keep hearing is that it has tons, but no specifics.

I think they mean gameplay wise since every weapon has 4 classes and theres 14 weapons, so 14 x 4= 56 plus you can play as cat too.

it's really too bad that they keep releasing these amazing, awesome Monster Hunter games for such an inferior handheld. Having large hands and playing Monster Hunter games is a nightmare. Why can't they just put these games on other systems? Why not PS4? NX? PC? Anything?

They do have PC games... just not in the US. Blame Capcom

Nintendo helps Capcom out in publishing the game here so its basically console exclusive at this point.

Why not NX? ................ cause its not out yet? There vary well may be a MH on NX.

Capcom are stranded for cash and Nintendo cover the publishing and distributing costs for the foreign market. It sucks, I'd pay big bucks for MH on steam with a 4-pack =/

I just can't fathom how Capcom can't connect the dots and see how lucrative MH would be cross-platform. They have made oodles of questionable business practices before and priced themselves into a corner, I know about that...

One would think that the "low faith Japanese developers have in their Western audiences" is a cliche, but it couldn't be more true from a company like Capcom. It's frustrating to have such a marvelous IP tied to the 3DS of all things.

It's certainly not frustrating for Capcom, considering how insanely successful the IP has been on the platform. Monster Hunter thrives on portable hardware.

That would great is my 30 bucks meant anything.

Well yea, it does you are right. But there's no reason Capcom can't bake a cake to go with their cookie. That way everyone goes away satisfied.

Find me one MH game that didn't have something unbalanced or broken about it. :P
Lol ok maybe I should rephrase a bit, one of the most broken and unbalanced MH. Some of the hunter arts of certain weapons are ridiculous, eg. Switch Axe 剣鬼形態Ⅲ + エネルギーチャージⅢ

It can't be help as any MH that introduces something new tends to be broken :D

So you're upset the games only come to handhelds and to combat that you keep giving them money for these handheld games you don't want. You deserve cramped hands and 260x120 resolution gaming while staring down at a tiny screen, sorry =/

I never said I was buying X, I learned my lesson with 4U.

It also transports exactly what it is: an anniversary title with the best things of all previous generations.
Oh? I figure it was a spin-off of playing around extreme-action gamplays and the 4 bosses that would reflect those new play styles (dotted with select levels from the franchise).

sorry I misunderstood

I hope your hands are fine :)

No problem!

it's just frustrating because deep down I know these are some of the best games at their core, and I am a massive Capcom fan.

Hmm... Wondering if I just skip this one and just hold out for MH5U.

Under the assumption that a fifth installment will happen, you have to ask yourself: when will it happen? Taking previous games trend in localization, they'd have to announce MH5 first, which could happen at the end of 2017, then announce the G or Ultimate version, which could be 2018-2019 in Japan and 2019-2020 in the west. So ask yourself, will I wait 4 years for a game I'm supposing will come out, or will I play the game that's coming out in approximately 4 to 5 months that's pretty good and improves a lot on the previous installment?

Does every MH thread have to be filled with this nonsense? Can we ever have a thread that's not crammed with port-begging and whining?

So tiresome.

Im not sure how far it extends for you, but for me the topic needs to be discussed. Ive been a long standing fan of the franchise since 2004 and Im physically incapable of playing on 3ds and would very much appreciate a console release like mh3u, so I can enjoy like I have in the past.

So what's the difference with MH4U gameplaywise and if i never played any MH game should i wait for MHG or start play 4U?

Honestly, you can't go wrong starting with 4U. It's a very good introduction to the series and explains most of the mechanics very well.

Which one of the Four Assholes are you most eager to hunt?

I'm personally going for the big Gammoth.

If Japan don't have G by now, one doesn't exist. Prepare yourself for MH5
Super curious about mh5. Is NX a forgone conclusion or is ps4 and Sony back in the mix? I'm sure both companies will work hard to get it. Doesn't MH usually go exclusively with the best selling platform though? Or will Nintendo just make huge money hats and make their next portable perfect for MH?

Really wanted a Wii U version, but I guess I'll get this and sink another 100+ hours into it. Sigh.

3DS wasn't the best selling console when MH3G was announced.

We don't know what Capcoms plan is.

That may be true, I don't know what business transactions happened, but then, as now, Capcom will reflect on the massive difference in sales between their handheld MHs and their console MHs and make a decision accordingly.

It's almost certainly going to be on a portable of some kind. Traditionally, Monster Hunter has sold better on handhelds and 4th gen has so far only been on handhelds.

I do believe 5 will either be on NX or Nintendo's next Handheld because Handheld seems better suited for Japanese Audiences (which are still the larger demographic here and probably always will be).

But if Nintendo ain't releasing a portable for long, they will surely want NX-Only Monster Hunter to give people a System Seller.

Ahh, I don't know whether to pick this up or wait for a potential G version. What are the chances Capcom will release a G version at or close to launch for the NX? Who am I kidding... I'll get it Day 1.

The majestic bastard that looks like a Lagi clone. Have a feeling I'll be hunting him a lot. Although half the fun of hunting Lagi was cutting off the tail as a GS user and I mained HH in 4U so not sure now :/

Exciting news, I didn't buy MH4U but I really wanted to. I bought MH3U and it was okay, I didn't like the swimming crap.

I will pick this game up and try to get into it, might play MH3 a little to practice.
