Monster Hunter: Generations announced for 3DS - Coming Summer 2016

MHX

# Small Monsters: 34
# Large Monsters: 71
# Total Monsters: 105

MH4U

# Small Monsters: 23
# Large Monsters: 75
# Total Monsters: 98

wait what? I thought it only went to high rank and had a lot of 2edgy subspecies. I actually don't know much about the number of monsters present or content available

Actually MHX doesn't suffer from subspecies copy/paste that plagued some MH titles in the past, most notably Ichinose's previous MH game Portable 3rd.

Some people think the lack of G Rank means less content. It doesn't.

To be fair the Subs in MH4U were pretty ridiculous and varied as far as subs go lol

But yes its a welcome change. Certainly will be the most VARIED MH game

I mean for me specifically G rank is a huge thing because of the amount of options in armor and weapon variety it opens up. Not that I didn't have tons of fun in Tri which was about as 'content light' as MH gets and had pretty slim options for top end weapons.

I was just expecting way less than 4U out of this game so it's a nice surprise.

Instead of G Rank MHX just has a steady curve with the quests

Its has Grank difficulty and an endgame it just doenst carry the moniker

The real amazing thing is that you can now change equipment from the multiplayer lobby without needing to head back to the home area. Since choosing equipment for the given monster is usually a good idea, this is a huge plus
Not quiteeeee true, you still need to move to a separate area to change equipment (it's pretty similar to MH3U in that respect).

There are like a million armor sets in MHX.

Also, Tri was barebones as fuck in terms of content. Like, really barebones. MHX is as big as any G version out there.

Beauty.

Maybe they will release it here in the west too.

Excited for this.

In 4U I played GS and S&S, but mostly focused on GS. Anyone know what would be the best between these two to main in this game, or what the pros/cons to each are with the whole style system?

I have no idea. But I'm sure I'll try them all again, suck at most of them, and lean back on S&S, Charge Blade, or Lance. The style system looks influential enough on playstyles that you really need to try everything again for yourself. And they always seem to change enough with the S&S to get me to want to stick with it.

so which weapons are awesome in this one?

Some stuff I've been thinking of using since I used the Charge Blade in 4U

Slash Axe
Gunlance
Lance
Longsword

Also, are Bows good for solo play in this?

A lot of people tend to forget Tri introduced to many new elements, new monsters (better than their gen 1/2 counterparts), less same rath-like monsters, and renewed monsters like Rathalos/Rathian/Diablos.

Fight normal Monoblos and Diablos on MH4U. One has janky shit like the slow circular running (wtf) versus better hitboxes and faster battle (albeit nerfed).

You can buff yourself with a faster move speed is a start.

Probably hard to implement into the 3DS since this game upped the special effects of everything.

And yes, we need canine helpers Capcom, fuck cats.

Yeah they are already pushing hardware limits to the point where they needed to limit framerate, push the POV closer, and whatever other concessions people have dug up.

I really hope this is the last 3DS game they make for petes sake

They probably didn't want to bite off more than they could chew since they were already designing three alternate movesets for everything.

Beyond the possible localization of Monster Hunter Stories, this very well may be the last MH game on the 3DS. My only fear is that if Stories gets localized, it'll come to the west while the NX Platform is in full swing.

That canine helper looks adorable. To think, I was this close to "Cassherning it up"!

Those two weapons better have made the short list for the 5th generation.

Well Capcom has been afraid to port games over so far with other franchises lol

How many Resident Evil ports do we have on various platforms now? Ive lost count

Well we did get those Stories screenshots in HD, even with HD UI elements.

Time to get stuck in a Monster Hunter game for a few months again!

Awwwww man I barely scratched the surface on 3U and then I got 4U and now generations is coming lol. I don't think I'll get to G rank on any of these titles :P.
