Moogles to be included in FFXV (although a light inclusion only)

He did, and he gave reasons for doing so and I thought... fine, you keep cutting and cutting so what's something like this? I had accepted it.
To go back on it so quickly shows he has no faith in his own vision though.

Doesn't this seem a bit melodramatic? By his own words the inclusion isn't going to be a large one, and the development milestone they revealed alongside this news is a hugely positive revelation.

I don't really care too much about whether or not they're included, assuming there won't be any trade-offs to include them like Tabata suggests.
Game is in beta.

I sort of think this might be threadworthy.

Make moogles the social network of that universe. Either as a name for their service or literally them running around giving messages.

I mean.... They already got the Dissidia writer lol.

(Dissidia is one of the rare places where Moogles are cool >.>)

"light inclusion"

A mess. Square-Enix stays losing, taking out what fans love about a series.

I'm going to start taking bets as to what will be a bigger disaster, FF XV or FF VII Remake.

Personally I'm finding that I'm gradually separating myself from 'the fans' of FF.

In truth I've probably been doing it for a long time, but the XIII trilogy, the FFXV production, and the announcement of FFVII:Re has made me more embarrassed at so many in this fanbase than any other period. That's saying a hell of a lot- especially if you were around when the original FFVII released and had to deal with the vocal chorus of "they've ruined FF with FMV" bullshit that was being yelled from the rooftops by co-called old school members of 'the fanbase'.

So to hell with 'the fans' and what they may or may not want. It's the fans that will "stay losing" by being short-sighted, petty assholes. I like to hope most of the rest of us just want fun games and positive experiences.
If these games come out and they are objectively shitty- yeah, absolutely raise hell. Otherwise, I wish people would just fucking relax a little.

Hopefully its a nice as that Type 0 PS4 SE had a contest for that was the best PS4 I've seen. If its not up to par then no buy.

Who am I kidding I'll be one of the first to pre-order it when it gets put up

You kinda expect it to be black because of the visual theme of the main cast and the logo. But i'm hoping that they go in another direction with it.

I, too, don't really associate with most of the "fanbase"'s opinions anymore. I loved the XIII trilogy and am super hyped for FF7R whatever it brings as I trust Nomura/kitase/etc.
I wouldn't go as far as say "to hell with the fans" though. With 30 years of very diverse history, fans are all over the place and S-E can't please everyone.
Everyone's entitled to their opinion -- be it positive or negative.

Which is exactly why I feel the FFXV team should stop asking feedback at every turn and just go with their vision and make the best game they can do. It's what made the series so great this far.
I hope this is all a front from the community team to keep fans satisfied. Judging by some of the answers Tabata gave during the streams, it feels like he IS stubborn enough to keep most of his vision intact -- or at least, I hope so.

S-E just needs to release mainline titles a bit faster, alternating between medieval turn-based games, MMO expansions, innovative sci-fi games, etc. It's what they used to do up to FFXI. People were most of the time satisfied. And if they weren't, the next, very different FF wasn't too far off. I loved the XIII trilogy but I'll admit it did hurt the fanbase for this reason.

Fantastic post, and full of truth.

Personally I can't wait to play this game. I've been waiting for it for almost 10 years now, and it's been my most anticipated game eve since I first laid eyes on that reveal trailer back in 2006. I'm super eager to get this. I want to see and play the end result by myself. I have no idea how I will behave once I get out of the game store with this in my hands.

These threads are gold. I seriously can't tell if there is an inside joke I'm missing. You could put /s at the end of each post and I wouldn't be able to tell.

Reaper worship, female party members, turn-based combat and no moogles in FFXVI!

To go back on it so quickly shows he has no faith in his own vision though.

His reason for not having Moogles felt more like an excuse to have not have to deal with them. I don't see Moogles making or breaking the game world vision if they're not depicted like in Type-O or XIII-2, especially when we have bizarre looking creatures like Naga and Numb Blade already walking around.

I sort of think this might be threadworthy.

Be my guest, it's bigger news than moogles imo. :P

Thanks for letting me know, FFXV team. I look forward to the press release tomorrow about the brand of coffee your offices are switching to this week.

Are Moombas coming back as well? Then again rendering them in 1080p sounds like a headache. Any FFXV news is good news so thanks for the update.

Fantasy based on feedback
Considering how much shit is dictated by feedback in business, that's kinda reality(whether we like it or not). At least when it comes to making money, it is.

FFX didn't have moogles (only represented as dolls) nor did FFXIII.

But, Versus originally planned to have Moogles. At least Nomura said he planned to include them, though he said they were going to look like the Type-0(and to a lesser extent, KH) design. Knowing how many people whine about the clashing art direction between the modern realistic style and the fantastical aspects of the monsters in FFXV, would people get on Nomura(Based god that could do no wrong, whose epic masterpiece of Versus was stifled and drastically altered into a lesser game) for that, or would they give him a pass simply because, he's NOMURA?

RIP my memory of the older FF's has failed me!

Talking moogles are literally the worst. XIII and XIV has ruined them.
FFXIII's ruined EVERYTHING.

FFXIV, I can't comment on. I'll take your word for it. But then again, I'm a firm supporter of mute(or at least "talk-less") moogles that only make animal-like "Kupo" sounds. I've said it before, if they communicate, it should be telepathically(and only to a "special" few, like Noctis and Luna).

Its just that Moogles are almost exctinct in this world, they are a rare delicacy, wich the royalty of the empire lĂkes so much

But FFXV is not that game, is it? you've even said that FF Versus XIII is dead and that this is a completely new game by Tabata, everything from the reveal trailer and all subsequent trailers up to 2011 is gone anyway (except from some of the characters), so in reality you have only waited 2 or 3 years for this new game.

OK if there's only going to be one Moogle, then I want Square-Enix to make him really memorable and think outside the box like they did with Chocolina.

Like, I want this Moogle to be a chain-smoking, bandana and leather wearing ruffian with gang tattoos and sunglasses. Plus his catchphrase needs to be "KUPO, BITCH"

I guarantee FF XV will to GTA V numbers this way.

I want my gruff-voiced Mog that probably has an addiction to whisky and cigars, like this one.

I can see a hard-boiled Moogle, living in a lonely apartment. Private Investigator by day, hard drinkin' womanizer by night.

He should make the Moogles the mascots of a children's television show in FFXV world.

Wait, do they have television?

SE constantly trying to please everyone with this game.

This won't end well...

Yuuuuuuup

seriously FFVersus13 "a completely new Final Fantasy no one is expecting, trust us on this one"
to FFXV "Please tell us how to improve every little gnats ass detail" hurts like none other.

FFVersus13 will always be my most anticipated title ever.

Can somebody remind me of where the Moogles were at in ff8? I can't remember for the life of me.

I can only remember the goofy, cuddly red monsters that helped you out.

Like you, many of us were greatly anticipating that game for years and years. The problem is that game from 2006 doesn't exist anymore, and many fans have become bitter and disillusioned because of it.

Really? Because as far as we know, it's mostly the same.

I fell in love with the idea of Noctis, the prince of a fallen kingdom with a stolen crystal, making a roadtrip with his bros to recover it and to defeat the empire who attacked them.

So... Pretty much the same idea. I'm completely ok with it.

They are bitter over a game that was terribly mismanaged and wasn't even made. It is frankly quite ridiculous.

I am quite frankly glad that tabata is in charge now. We'll at least get a game next year.

People need to learn to let it go, life ain't fair move on and expect the best... Well that's my attitude for everything instead of the doom and gloom.

No you have to be gloomy about it Nomura is gone, Versus XIII is gone, Stella, the face of the entire game is no more instead replaced by a generic useless damsel in distress!

Both sides have good points but its best to try moving on

Noctis still with us... Shining lights even in death.

Firstly they will need to go field hunting for actual real Moogles so they can properly analyze the fur density, finger movements and antenna physics.

Once they have a found a moogle, they will then render it in life like fashion and use the Luminous Engine's unique animation abilities to bring it to life, and only then will development recommence. So the quicker they find this moogle the quicker the game will be out.

Someone please let them know if you saw a moogle recently.

You're missing the part where Luminous crashes and delays the game.

not surprised, since i'm pretty sure hardly anyone else does, either :) ...

Yup. Noctis is still the prince of Lucis. His friends are still Prompto, Ignis and Gladiolus. Noctis still wields swords that, when given a certain situation, can float around and shit. Noctis can still use his sword to teleport. There's still a place called Tenebrae. Niflheim is still the "evil empire" that look like old school knights wielding guns and high tech weaponry.

That bullshit VO in XIII-2 may as well have killed them off completely

Think this is one of the things that didn't make the linguistic jump all that well. Japanese is a very phonetic language, with a lot of vocabulary being literal sounds.

This feeds into the speech mannerisms (pretty much a cliche) for anthromorphic characters, which is where you get all the "nyan" in cat or cat-people speech for example.

"Kupo" sounds a lot less awkward in Japanese just because of that. In English, it's about as awkward as a character with cat ears that constantly says "meow".

Also, the game is still mostly about friendship and bonding, and about the relationship between father and son. The world is still open, just like Nomura said Versus would be. The party uses a car to move around and travel the world, just like Versus was supposed to be. There's also a Dragoon girl just like in Versus. Noctis' eyes change color according to certain circumstances just like Versus.

Yes, this game is still pretty much that game I've been waiting for since 2006.
