What I love about MK compared to other fighters is that I really want to play as all the characters.
Yep. It's cool to see such variety in everyone's character choices. Kudos to Boon and co. for making so many awesome characters over the years.

Who is everyone planning to use for their main in MK9?

I'm thinking either Noob, Kung Lao or Reptile for myself.
I'd like to use Sheeva (my favorite character design, shame about the Borat swimsuit) and Noob (coolest looking abilities), hopefully they're fun to play. I wanted to use Kabal, but his look in MK9 is totally repulsive.
Oh, also Baraka... Aaand whichever ninja-esque dude or dudette is most fun to play.

So, who's going with the Stryker-Nightwolf tag team?

My main will definitely be Scorpion, because he looks pretty good from what seen and the little I've played. And also because he always is.

Excited to try Baraka, Kitana, Jax, Jade, and Sonya too.

Shinnok, Rain, Robo-Smoke and Tanya should all happen eventually since they were on Boon's DLC list.

I'd probably take Robo-smoke and Frost over Shinnok or Tanya. Rain's fine as long as he has a ninja alt.

Is the controller actually good? I've heard people complain that the stick's dead zone is sort of a problem, especially for FPS.
I've heard those complaints but I haven't personally experienced any kind of dead zone, at least in WipEout HD and Pixeljunk Shooter.

I think the triggers feel great and so do the thumbsticks. The d-pad is perfect size too. I also like the rubbery material of the whole thing, it really prevents your hands from getting sweaty. Plus if you get it at Gamestop, it's red...and awesome. The buttons light up too.

I have a list of characters I'm going to try, but I can't say who I'll main until I've played the game. I need a character that meshes well with my play style.

The characters I'll try first: Stryker, Raiden, Cage (to check his changes from the demo), Jade, Jax, Kung Lao, and Sheeva.

For sure, I will not use: Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Mileena, Kano (unless he has his MK1 outfit) and Kratos.

I've never used PSN for online games. I would like to know about this chatroom business too.

Basically we setup a chatroom and invite you to it. Once you've been invited as long as someone uses it occasionally and it stays saved to someone's profile for accessing, it can't be deleted. It IS invitation only, but it also means you can go in there and setup matches and stuff with ANYONE in it without them having to be on your friends list at all.

It's one of the odd reasons I kind of prefer matchmaking on PSN to live, it just feels simpler and somewhat more elegant to me than inviting on Live or setting up a party room on live for chatting. The only real drawback is there's not cross-game voice chat, but you can see notifications when someone sends a message to the room.

'Fatality lives' is kinda lame to be honest.. The original 1993 'Prepare yourself' ads were so epic

I wouldn't hope on it. I can't believe some small studio would have the money to re-make mk games. Hiring actors, shooting everything back to back. Nah. 3d models seems realistic, though horrible.
Profound sadness :(

People like Tanya? Pretty much my no1 worst designed mk character.

Replayed psn MK2 today with Reptile, too much hype, hehe. Fucking Baraka. But Kahn was free.

Why I have a feeling that Baraka will fuck up everyone online? That guy is too good in all games.

WB release ps1 MK Mythologies and MK4 on psn, please!

Why aren't they doing this? People's mk hype is through the roof!

MK Mythologies controls/gameplay is awful by today's standards. Theres no way it would hold up.

I really hope that that the Tag Mode becomes standard for this game, even if it seems to run a little long.

I'll main Shang/Cyrax, with an eye on Quan Chi if he turns out well.

Today's standards are way pussyfied.

MkM gameplay is fine just hard as nails. I still play psone games.

I just hope that subzeros a little quicker in the retail game, that windup he does to use his iceball is kinda ridiculous.

Why would Sub-Zero be quick?

He's the ice guy.

When's the last time you saw a glacier move fast?

As for mains, I will go Sub Zero as always.

As for my second it all depends, if Smoke has an Alt that has a that hair covered up.

Perfered

Shredder Zero (Hopefully it's an alt.)
Smoke.

If not then

Sub Zero and Noob.

I can't decide whether to get this game or not. I used to love MK back in the day but I sucked at it hard. I played the demo and I love it but I worry that I'm going to get swallowed whole online because of my lack of skills. I had fun playing Solo on Beginner and Easy though. I can't win a match to save my life in SSFIV Turbo but do you guys think that MK will be a little easier to pick up some wins here and there for losers like me?

lol well just compare what we have now to MK2's subzero, pretty striking difference

I will say that when UMK3 came out for XBLA, I was surprised that it wasn't riddled with nothing but leet pros. I am not an exceptional player or anything but I was still able to rack up a couple hundred wins.

Also, you can always tag team with a higher skilled player who can help carry you guys past the tougher opponents.

Seriously man. Everyone get's fucked up online. Most likely simple strategies will be the key, lag doesn't allow for the same kind of play like offline. You don't even have to play it online, if you like mk characters and story then there's tons to do. It's likely that online will suck so I plan spending most of the time in single player myself.

I think the online will be good. This is a Western developer- and the online tests won't be does it work from Tokyo to Osaka.

I think at worst online will be SF4-quality.

As for getting bodied online- yeah you'll get bodied by some folks, but most players will really, really suck, just like when SF4 came out. It will be hard to find even decent online players for the first month, if this games sells like I'm expecting it to.

The more copies a fighting game sells, the more bad players will be playing it.

Ahaha! Seems like you didn't play previous mk's online.

No way it's gonna be sf4 quality, even at best.
