Well to be fair that bio wasn't exactly in the game and was only written until after the game launched :T
With the MK series having essentially been rebooted for MK1-3, I'm assuming every post mk3 lore is effectively on standby. I know MKX is a completely new story, but what elements and characters MK4 and beyond could end up making their way into MKX and beyond? Conversely, what characters and elements does anyone see not making it into the rebooted series because they wouldn't work well in the story mode?
If you could look into the minds of Ed Boon and Netherealm, which characters do you see being given the green light in future installments? I personally don't see them featuring Mokap in any story modes in the future.
Also, on an unrelated note, do you think that other fighting series will eventually adopt story modes, such as Streetfighter II, Tekken, and Soul Calibur?

I mean we used to need to rely on Stategy guides and game manuels for this "lore info", but now it's being shoved down our throats (with QTE's now to boot). I just think it's a lot of wasted energy than to just include ALL the greatest MK vets and new chars and just focus on balancing, competitive play and overall polish. Then let the guides or unlock "Koncepts" fill the void for the lore. You couldn't be more wrong. First off, casual gamers HEAVILY outweigh the competitive crowd so focus on competitive play over modes that appeal to the wider player base is not smart. Second, many gamers loved the story mode from 9 and you can see web wide how many are anticipating story mode in this game and making comments about how other fighting series need to get with the program and have this caliber of story mode told in their games. Story mode is not shoved down your throat, you can ignore it completely if you want and stick with arcade mode, challenge ladder and MP if you like. I'm glad you have zero sway on the development of this game. Story mode is fucking phenomenal and better than a lot of games on the market that aren't fighting games. I liked the lore before but the inclusion of story mode in 9 took it to another level. I have a weird feeling that might totally be off base, but...
Maybe Shang Tsung is the secret character? It's true that the roster was leaked weeks ago and it's turned out to be accurate, but this person may have only been privy to the starting roster considering they never spoke of DLC characters other than Goro.
We know that one character is hidden and is unlocked by beating story mode. I think most of us assumed it was either Shinnok or an evil Liu Kang, but both of those dudes were casually revealed last week and it seems weird to reveal your one and only hidden character before all of your starting ones are shown off.
NRS still hasn't properly shown off Sonya, Jax, Jaqui, Kenshi or Goro and none of those seem like hidden character/final boss material (I cant remember if it was confirmed if the hidden character was also the final boss.) Shang is the only MK1 character who's completely MIA and could easily be hiding out in the story, posing as different characters and manipulating things behind the scenes. He was also mentioned in that GameStop video along with Mileena who turned out to be playable, though that's not confirmation by any means, just an interesting coincidence.
It could be that I'm so desperate for more characters that I'm seeing things that aren't there, but as I was thinking today about who could be the final boss, Shang struck me as the most logical choice among the missing MK baddies. Also, with DLC included, the roster is 29 strong so one more would make an even 30.
The problem is you're implying that story mode led to those listed characters not being in the game. The story mode of 9 killed off quite a few of the characters that are actually IN this one, so the idea of a "story mode" can't be used as an excuse for those other characters not being included.
No, those characters aren't in because, well, they probably just flat out don't want them to be in, and there's nothing wrong with that. No reason to scapegoat it.![]()
Is there an Arcade mode for this? The "Story mode" looks like it'll be forcing me to watch tons of awful cutscenes.
