They haven't made a single improvement to online since launch.

New statement from HVS, no eta on anything but at least they are still listening.

High Voltage Software

"Hi everyone! Thank you all so much for your patience and support while we address the issues many of you have encountered in MKX. As most of you are aware, we released a patch over the weekend that fixed a number of issues including the Dead Woods and the Main Menu freeze. Please know that we are continuing to work on the crashes and performance issues that have been reported, and hope to release additional patches in the near future. Thanks again everyone!"

Part of me is still hoping for a big patch to hit with Jason.

At this point I'm not buying anything NRS again until they have some quality control. Should have learned my lesson earlier but I was stupid.

Yeah. I gave up on online while ago but was bored and wanted to give it one more shot. I still havent touched Story mode yet because of the poor performance and the odd black crush in cutscenes.

I love the game 10/10 so I am with you there (fingers crossed).

Burning question I have is if framerate and memory leak issues persist (both are not limited to PC), what it will mean for the tourney scene and ultimately EVO 2015.

Eh, they're going to use the PS4 version. It doesn't drop frames during fighting.

To be fair performance has never been an issue for me either, rock solid 60fps where applicable on max settings. The CTD will be fixed I'm sure of that, but I doubt online will ever work correctly. I've already decided to buy a PS4 once revision 2 hits, I won't deal with this shit again next year.

If you look the video files from the PC version outside of the game, they're actually fine, they have no black crush. It's literally an issue with the game itself, i.e. an issue with High Voltage.

Also, in case anyone wants to know, they're 720p Bink garbage, including the QTE moments, nothing is real-time, unlike what Digital Foundry says.

Nice to know it's something with the game and not the files, means it can be fixed (though most likely won't as High Voltage appear to be a bunch of hacks). It's so jarring seeing footage from the console versions and seeing how you get the full range and then seeing the PC version and not being able to make out shit because it's 70% solid black in most scenes.

Isn't the online multi just as laggy on the PS4?

I don't want to tin foil hat, but I think it's pretty clear they're delaying patches on PC so we don't MOD Jason before the release on consoles, which in turn has held back our game tremendously and killed off a good chunk of the player base. I expect a very large patch to hit with the DLC.

Thats a pretty good possibility. I hadn't thought of that. In the mean time, HV is getting a horrid reputation, and they are losing a lot of money on PC only players.

Well this is 3/3 for HVS when it comes to rubbish ports, I don't know why WB keep hiring them for the PC version.

Did a little poking around in the Coalesced.ini and lowered the maxlodsize for a few items and noticed a pretty decent boost in the FPS. The Jungle and Skytemple now runs at 60fps with dips into 56-57 during throw animations.

Here are the settings I am currently using:

TEXTUREGROUP_Character=(MinLODSize=32,MaxLODSize=4096,LODBias=0,MipGenSettings=TMGS_SimpleAverage)
TEXTUREGROUP_CharacterNormalMap=(MinLODSize=32,MaxLODSize=4096,LODBias=0,MipGenSettings=TMGS_SimpleAverage)

Wow, the black crush during cutscenes is ridiculous. I refuse to believe they didn't notice this garbage before release.

Don't have much choice without a console, and their sales would be higher if the port was good. You'd think practise would make perfect at this point.

If you care about fighting games, get a console (imo). But don't go wondering how a studio is getting hired when you just gave them $60 for a piece of crap even though you knew it was a piece of crap before you bought it.

Not like it truly matters because even with a good port the netcode is unplayable dogshit on every platform.

I can't see the future, I didn't know it was a shit port when I bought it. And I'm not massively into fighting games, but I do like MK. I plan to get a PS4 when revision 2 hits.

I love fighting games but I will not gonna go back and buying (and supporting) console fighting games.
HV and NR have to fix this shit, asap.
This just don't make sense that the pc version of their games suck (especially online).

I agree. I went PC because I like the option to scale. In my case, it's scaling up to 4K. Can't stand looking at games through "muddy water filter" texture anymore :p . Unless the game is exclusive to a certain console, I always go PC. I have MKX on my PS4 but abandoned it once I got in on my PC.

Just completed all Factions level 50, with Dragon King Kombat Kard set with mainly gives tons of Koins per battle/fatality/brutality (which at this point to me is pointless since I've amassed more than 2.7 million of those already). And oh, that "No Loyalty" achievement too.

That's just it though, if you are a fighting game fan then you know it's all about community building. I make custom fightsticks as a side biz and would have spent the money regardless of whether HVS did the port or not because I want to see the PC fighting community grow.

I've been playing fighting games since 89, but I'm not going back to consoles. Fighting games are starting to become more prominent in the PC scene because of people like me jumping over to the platform. BBCSE has good netcode, Skullgirlz has good netcode, USFIV from what I've experienced is on the same level as consoles. You just have turds like DoA5, and MKX that get released.

On another note, don't go to Steam and voice your complaints about the game on their forums. The apologists their are ready with their pitchforks and fire.

When does the first Kombat Pack character come out? We have to have a patch at that point right? They have to don't they? Aren't we still 3 patches behind consoles or something?

The 5th. The hope is that we'll receive all the updates at once with the DLC, but that's best case scenario.

Fightcade and Arclive are also a nice alternative if you have low-spec PCs and just play on a keyboard. For Neo Geo games especially, conversion is almost arcade perfect

Do your research next time. High Voltage Studios consistently puts out bad ports no matter the platform.

I got the PS4 version of MKX and it's not anywhere near playable online. Don't feel too bad.

It's like MK9 on PC. Yea, that bad. :( Ed Boon really fucked up this game. It's pretty dead already.

So instead of playing the PS4 version you own, you put up with performance issues, 3 patches behind, missing content on PC, black crushed videos, and risking losing all your progress with the progress removal bug for slightly better textures?

Also, the PC version has worse shadows even on highest settings according to NXGamer if your that worried about minor visual differences.

And even then, I guess there's still hope for DOA to have okay online play on PC when it gets released. Personally, I feel like PC is actually great for fighters nowadays, if we get Tekken 7 I'm honestly not sure what would make me buy a PS4. PC looks to be particularly great for Street Fighter and KOF, which are my favorite traditional fighters. If only Capcom would port older fighters to Steam, like how SNK does.

Also, I realize I'm extremely lucky, but I'm having no issues with MKX since I got my Alpha. I've even had a couple of enjoyable online sessions! Lol.

I beg to differ.

Warning: Image size 22MB. But it does bring my point across, 4K on MKX is glorious!

Not too shabby for being "minor visual differences".

I did not experience any performance issues after the 15GB patch, running GTX 980M on my laptop here at 2880x1620 (Gigabyte P35X) and 4K on my desktop (custom liquid-cooled 3-Way SLI Titan X). Missing content like Klassic Sub Zero or the walk-away animation doesn't bother me, it gets old after a while, and I'd rather get to the fight. And because on the online netkode being horrible everywhere on all the platforms, no advantages there either. The case may be unique to my own because of my location in South East Asia and play matching isn't fixed on any of the three platforms either. The progress removal bug happens mainly due to CTD after KOTH session, in which I can never get to work on both the PS4 and PC due to again, the shittiness of connection where I am right now. So I've mainly avoided online (again, due to the crappy netkode and I get better multiplayer experience playing locally anyway). It's the same situation with PS4 on my location. The scene here is that folks are more inclined to organise mini-tourneys than brave the minefield that is online multiplayer match.

I would've jumped to PS4 if I'm in NA right now, as where that stands, PS4 is a better choice especially when I consider online matches working (somewhat) and being a big portion of the appeal of it. As it stand, local multiplayer is the only way to play multiplayer matches in my situation, and as I've tested it numerous time at the gaming PC build lab where I hang out most of the time, the game runs flawless: gaming laptop plugged to a 42 inch TV with one gamepad (Hori Fighting Commander 4) and one fight stick (Razer Ferox) for each kombatant.

It all boils down to the need of the moment is. I travel a lot as a job too, hence gaming on a laptop being the most ideal than lugging PS4 and hoping for hotels where I stay having a good TV to plug into.

PC patch confirmed for tomorrow by Ed Boon on Stream, he said it'll bring us up to console status so fingers crossed. He said NRS helped HVS with the patch. I'm so fucking excited right now.

I need to go home and get this fuckin patch

I've finished exactly 1 living tower challenge and it was a sudden death mode so the matches were like 3 seconds long. anything beyond that and it just eats shit and CTD in a way that I have to basically reboot my PC to recover from

Hopefully NRS having to help HVS teaches them a thing or two about how to actually fix things (it wont)

Let's go!!

Yep, looks like the patch deleted everyone's save.

And it turns out, I didn't have a backup. Oh well, not like I had done much besides a ton of 1v1. What was unlocked in the Krypt is easily gained back.

Also might just be me, as I only checked the first few minutes of story mode but it appears the black crush is fixed.

They seem to have broken resolution scaling with the latest patch, so I'll just play something else for the time being. Seriously, it's hard to believe they can't get even the most basic things right.
