This right here. Ugh.

Done and done.

Godawful movie, just terrible. I think I'd rather watch AvP:R and Alien Resurrection in one sitting than watch that piece of utter shit again.

Most recently, Snowtown. Watched it at a friend's who had picked it up on the strength of the plaudits on the front - 5 stars here, 4 stars there "Gripping!"...."Unmissable!"....

"Shite!" would have been much more apt. The film was around 2 hours long and 90 minutes in we all agreed that it still felt like it hadn't even started yet.

The subject matter was hardly the nicest thing anyway, but good god....awful film and one to avoid.

The Big Lebowski. I was late to the party and by the time I had watched it, it was hyped up so much that I don't know if it ever could've lived up to the talk. After everyone tells you it's a movie made just for you...they'd better be right.
To be fair, I didn't care for it the first time I saw it, and it's now my favorite movie. Many others seem to have the same experience. Maybe give it some time and then watch it again.

For me it's a competition between The Matrix Revolutions and The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy movie. I liked the Matrix and Reloaded, with Revolutions it felt like they blew all their money on Reloaded, plus the story was pretty shit. Also Hitchhikers Guide is one of my favorite trilogies of all time, the movie was a bit of an insult to me as a fan.

Unfortunately Prometheus due to its complete and utter lack of consistency and terrible characterization. It was the ultimate squandering of an incredible opportunity.

Highlander 2 had the shock of complete ineptitude on multiple levels. They simply forgot what movie they were sequelling in the writing. It would have been too hard to simply write that more immortals have been born or chosen once "The Prize" had been won.

Alien Resurrection because it betrayed the tone of the series completely and comes off like a goofy french comic book science fiction Alien film parody. Once again squandered the opportunity which is EQUAL parts the fault of Joss and Juenet.

Drive. I know it gets tons of praise I found it boring. Hyped itself up as an action movie and turned out to be lame.

Recently, it was The Avengers.
Not disappointing because I thought it was bad.
Disappointing, because I saw it a few weeks after it came out and everyone hyped the hell out of it.
I expected one of the absolute best movies I'd ever seen when I watched it.
Yes, it was good, but not good as people had made it out to be, imo.

I really can't think of most disappointing right now, so that answer will have to do for now.

same. I hated it when i first saw it. After a second watch, it was one of my favourite movies. Still is.

Recently? Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows

Really? I thought GoS was really good aside from a single scene (much better portrayal of Moriarty then "Sherlock" did)
I'd probably go with the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy movie, just because it came out when I was young and naive enough to think it would be good.

Sherlock Holmes (2009) with Robert Downey Jr. I loved the stories and novels, but this film was just a generic action flick that doesn't reflect the original work. Meh.

For a more controversial answer, Kingdom of Heaven (director's cut). Without going into detail (which would be hard since I only saw it once three years ago) to me it just felt like less than the sum of its parts.

Weird, isn't it?

Remember watching the Alien films when I was younger and I had no clue that the 3rd film was bad. I watched it several years after it's release and was so very disappointed after the first two.

Ironman 2

Awesome sequel that has the original director/crew... how did it go all so wrong

Spiderman 3

see above but 100 worse.... blehhh

Honestly, what squandered opportunity? No-one wanted it, 3 ended the story of Ripley, bringing her back as a half alien clone that helps birth that gimpy looking motherfucker was a massive fuck you to not only fans but every single person on the planet.

Phantom Menace is really the epitome of "disappointing movie". The hype was unbelievably enormous, and the steaming turd that turned out was beyond belief.

From latest movies i was kind of disappointed with man in black 3. I expected a lot more from it, but the humor was low, story was meh just like the characters...

DC addresses a lot of the problems with the movie. Watch it if you get the chance.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, dragged a dozen friends to that on opening night. It was far below Anderson's previous movies imo, the trailer was the best part.

So it was a disappointing movie because the characters weren't likable?

Mainly the dialogue. Everything out of Marks mouth is condescending in tone and self aborbish. He says his lines so relentlessly fast in order to appear intelligent but really all it does is making him look like a retarded brat taking speed with anxiety issues. And yes, i know hes suppose to be a dick in the movie but it doesn't really make the movie enjoyable when the majority of his dialogue consist of snide bitter remarks. It also didn't help that the rest of the cast were unlikable twats also. shame since i usually like David Fincher movies.

I have seen it. I never thought Alien 3 was complete trash but it sure is disappointing when compared to the first two. Same feeling with Prometheus, I thought it was good but still disappointed considering there was potential for something more.

Clash of the Titans(2010)

Man I loved the older movie as a kid, couldn't get enough of it. When I saw they were remaking it. All they had to do was update the effects, but instead they turned it into trash!
Horrible acting, horrible lead, the story was worse, terrible pacing. They even managed to turn the Kraken into a joke. Completely hated this garbage.

Actually made Wrath of the Titans a better movie, because it was sooo bad and my expectations for the sequel were crazy low.

Drive. I know it gets tons of praise I found it boring. Hyped itself up as an action movie and turned out to be lame.
I went into Drive expecting a car chase action flick about a stunt driver/getaway driver. I mean, the premise would suggest as such. But it was a lot slower than I was expecting, and has a cumulative total of about 10 minutes of dialogue over the whole course of the film. And that awful "Real Hero" track tainting an otherwise awesome score.

It was cool and stylish, and I liked it more the second watch, but yeah, was expecting epic chases, cool cars, maybe a few shoot outs, but it was more this...

As I say, after the fact, I do like Drive, but it was a disappointment.
