Most disappointing movie you've seen

I remember coming out of the theater with the feeling of "I can't believe I didn't like it!". I loved Fellowship and still consider one of the best adventure movies ever made. TTT was just not up to that level of quality, with its uneven pace and moments of pure boredom and dullness. The big battle did nothing for me. Gollum is really the only salvageable element from the film.

Really don't get this. Is it because TTT is more about the realm of men and less a traditional fantasy picture like FOTR?

It's not a bad movie, but I definitely think TTT is the weakest of the three movies. It's also the weakest book in LotR.

Two Towers is my favorite of the trilogy. If there's one I was slightly disappointed in, it would be Return of the King.

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet:

The Last Airbender is unequivocally my most disappointing movie experience. It's not the worst movie I've ever seen, nor is it the only movie I wanted to like but didn't. However, I really love the original show (it was one of the first TV series I ever got excited about) and even after the negative reviews came in I was still hoping for an entertaining martial arts flick like the trailers had suggested. My expectations had been lowered by the time opening day rolled around but even then, the movie was so awful in every single way that I left the theatre rather upset. The sets and costumes looked pretty cheap and the "bending" was laughably bad, to say nothing mangled plot, characters, dialogue, etc.

I sometimes think about renting this just to see if it's not as bad as I remember of if I can laugh at it in a "so bad it's good" kind of way, but at the time I was so excited to see ATLA get a live-action adaptation that the disappointment crushed any possible amusement. Looking back, I can laugh at thinks like the pebble dance, though.

Terminator 3 and Terminator Salvation were real disappointments for me when I saw them and felt like wasted potential :(

The most disappointing lord of the rings was return of the king for me, still good but to me it was too long.

I'm disappointed in myself for not seeing Scott pilgrim in theaters

Yeah this movie almost screws the whole franchise for me. Fellowship is so damn good. And then this happened. The giant cartoon battle near the end just sealed my frustration with everything that came before it. No sense of dread, boring side distractions, bad CGI and so forth. No sense of time or place.

First time I watched them I had this view, too. Only when I rewatched RotK it became my favorite. Still think TTT is the most fun.

I'm glad to see other people who liked TTT. I tend to go back and forth between TTT and ROTK as to which is my favorite of the trilogy. I can understand why some people prefer FOTR though, it's certainly free of many of the "Jacksonisms" that plague PJ's later films (not just LOTR, but also/especially King Kong) but I felt that it lacked the highs of TTT and ROTK as well. I love all three, though.

And the score and the Balrog opening.

Oh yeah, the music is tops throughout the entire trilogy. Opening is cool too.

Really don't get this. Is it because TTT is more about the realm of men and less a traditional fantasy picture like FOTR?

Well FOTR is a much more tight, focused experience, and follows pretty much a single plotline. There's three going on at once in TTT. One bored me completely(merry, pippin and the trees), and another's big payoff didn't do anything for me(the battle of helm's deep).

And I did think FOTR was more fantastical with more variety in the scenery and awe-insipring vistas.

Anyway, so disappointing TTT is for me that I can't help but feel anything but complete indifference towards ROTK.

The Two Towers? I understand people being disappointed by it compared to the near-perfection of Fellowship, but calling it a "bad" film? No. Troll 2 was bad.

As for me, this is the first movie I remember seeing and being disappointed in (I was 18 at the time);

I was a massive fan of Spider-Man 2, it was a total foreign feeling to leave a movie theater not raving about the movie I just saw. Spider-Man 3 was actually the movie that caused me to start looking at all movies from a more critical perspective. So, uh...thanks Spidey. I think there are some fun scenes here and there...but fuck me the movie was just one mis-step after another.

Terminator 3 and Terminator Salvation were real disappointments for me when I saw them and felt like wasted potential :(

Salvation was the movie that killed the franchise for me. Fuck how could I forget that godawful movie. First movie I actually came out of the movie theaters, extremely pissed off.

Drive - huge Michael Mann fanboy, and I thought Refn was promising with the Pusher trilogy. Even though stuff like Bronson and Vallhalla Rising was just self-indulgent shit. Looks like that's all he's capable of now though.

Matrix Reloaded - uh...it's following up The Matrix. Great expectations obviously, not met with the horrible dialogue. Did anybody give a shit about what Neo and the architect was talking about? I remember watching X2 around the same time frame and being amazed at how much better it was than the Matrix sequel. Still the chateau and highway scene is good.

Public Enemies - like I said before I'm a big Mann fanboy and the cast and story for this was looking promising. It's not an awful film but it should have been so much more. Still there are a few bright spots here such as the ending and Depp's Dillinger. Also the colonel from Avatar was pretty badass.

King Kong - Jackson's next film after the LOTR trilogy and the ads were great. Skull Island looked freaking amazing and so did Kong himself. Felt a bit too long though. Still I really enjoyed the setup for the expedition to be honest and the Skull Island scenes were great. Should have been edited down, however.

As a child, I would easily have to say Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III.

The first two TMNT movies are arguably bad movies, but the makers of those films understood what kids loved about the Ninja Turtles and successfully brought it to a live-action world. The third movie doesn't understand this at all, and the worst part for me was how horrible and cheap Splinter and the Turtles look compared to the previous movies.

TMNT III blows more than a coked-up Paris Hilton in front of a glory holy hole. Even as a kid I knew it was a terrible movie, with 'Tarzan Boy' and Splinter's 'I made a funny hahahaha' line being the only things it had going for it. The first two movies are pretty decent though. Still, TMNT III is a goddamn masterpiece compared to this unholy abomination.

The first one was my favorite movie at the time and I thought the second was going to be like the first. I wish someone would've told me it was going to be less Japanese Kung-fu happytime and more poo Western.

Years later I watched it again and really enjoyed it knowing what the movie isn't and what it is.

I've seen this movie three times and now I might watch it a fourth thanks to you. Ugh. Both movies combined is truly a magical experience.

I enjoyed the second more. I know what you are saying though. Some movies need more viewings to get, or appreciate.

You know what, I guess I'll post another, although this is a bit of a weird one;

Now, I'm a massive Superman fan. Only The Lord of the Rings ties it for my favorite thing of all time. So I was massively hyped for this before it came out. Like, think of all the die-hard Star Wars fans waiting in line at midnight for The Phantom Menace release...that was me. And how could I not be excited? I mean, it had one of the single greatest teaser trailers of all time and had a ton of talent behind it, on top of using a good chunk of John William's music. I saw it on it's opening night with a bunch of my high school friends and we all really liked it. I instantly declared it one of my favorite movies of all time.

Then, as the years went by, I started liking it less and less, and it's flaws became more and more apparent. To bring it back to Star Wars, I was like those die-hard fans who tried their hardest to convince themselves that it had been worth the wait and that everything nonsensical about the movie was completely justifiable. These days I think the movie is okay, certainly not bad, but certainly not great either. I do wish Brandon Routh had gotten the chance to continue on with the character and it's a shame that despite the fact that he signed up for a trilogy, the whole thing sort of crumbled after SR barely made a profit.

The film is gorgeous though, Bryan Singer knew how to put those RED cameras to good use.

I was disappointed with There Will Be Blood. It started out so great but I don't know what the fuck happened to it towards the end. It just got bizarre and stupid.

I nominate Moon. I was very excited for that one, and I thought it fell completely flat. It was just going through the motions. Technically proficient, great score, fine performance by Sam Rockwell, but I wasn't engaged at all. I really didn't care about his plight or the story.

Solaris w Clooney. POS.

Psh, that's a masterpiece.

I dont recall much about the technical aspects but I felt sorry for him. Especially at the end of the shot with him in the crashed rover. :(

Quantum of Solace? Probably. Casino Royale is one of my all time favorites, not just among the Bond franchise. So I expected A LOT more than what we were presented.

Prometheus was a recent disappointment when compared to Alien. Didn't have the same actor chemistry, storyline, or even suspense. It felt like a scifi (syfy) film with a large budget. David was the only part of the film I liked. The movie isn't bad but it isn't great. I know it is suppose to be a new adventure separate from Alien, but it ended up being too similar to really drive away from it completely.

Section 9.

Sci-fi movie with political themes? FUCK YES. What I actually got: bottom barrel action flick with one of the worst main characters ever.

I actually don't mind Matrix Reloaded, but Revolutions was pretty bad. I also don't mind the SW prequels that much.. except for those Padme/Anakin scenes in Ep 2.

After being pleasantly surprised by the first Transformers, Michael Bay serves up this steaming pile of shit.

Pixar's first dud after a string of awesome films.

I've only seen two movies in the past decade that made me get physically angry due to how god awful they were. The first was Harold and Kumar Christmas 3D and the second was Cabin in the Woods.

Just garbage, pure trash.

Has to be Hunger Games. Actually only saw it because everyone seemed to be talking about it. But it's still the only movie I can recall seeing in a theater, where I have been bored out of my mind for the duration of the movie.

I'd heard so much about how good The Tree of Life was supposed to be.

When I left the cinema I realized I'd just watched a 2 hour self congratulatory wank by Terrence Malick.

I haven't seen it yet, but the GAF hype leads me to believe I will be left disappointed.
