The Dark Knight is the most over rated in recent memory. Not saying it's bad at all, but watching it without the prior love of Batman and judging it on its own, it's just an average movie.
Yeah Gravity was pretty uninteresting. Fun visuals though.
Don't you know, saying something is overrated is another way of saying the thing you like is shit because reasons.By what standard, I wonder, is Gravity "absolute garbage"? I didn't care much for it myself though I enjoyed it, and it would certainly seem overrated, but garbage? Come on.
I don't understand the need for such hyperbolic language to communicate your dislike for any particular thing - especially if that particular thing is met with widespread acclaim and success.
I haven't seen it but as I understand, Citizen Kane.
Even The Prestige? I gotta hear opinions on that one for being only decent.
I would argue it's appeal to non-Batman fans or lovers is exactly why it was so successful.
2001: A Space Odyssey
I will never, ever understand the love people have for that movie. I just found it boring.
Gravity, Inception, Godfather, The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avatar
Shawshank Redemption

You're saying none of that is because of the massive amount of media attention the film had at the time because of the tragic circumstances involving one of the main stars? I'm sure a lot of people that wouldn't normally go and watch a superhero film went to see it because of this, and then realised it's not actually the terrible superhero film they expected. It's just not as good as everyone I spoke to said it was... In my opinion.

Terminator 2. A sequel wasn't needed and you could tell they were scraping for ideas.
Huh? I'm so sorry but I'm going to call bullshit on this. If the greatest sequel of all time wasn't needed, is any movie truly needed?

The Lion King.
I agree with you OP.
Wow.
I'm leaving before I say something that will get me banned.
