Most Powerful Player Character

Can't find a single fanart of Kirby with Asura's powers .... I had bigger hopes for the internet =/

Try harder

Kirby couldn't absorb Asura's powers. He/she would immediately explode from the inside out. Just trying to suck Asura in would make Kirby explode like a firework.

For mechanically, I'm going with a recent experience. Talion, in Shadow of Mordor. The game really empowers you (probably a bit too much).

Squall Leonhart is probably the most powerful character I ever used.

He does ridiculous damage if you set his junction system right and uses Aura + Lionheart.

I've never even heard of this Asura game before. I think I need to look it up and jump in, because those screens look awesome.

Make sur eyou know what you're getting into beforehand. It's not a traditional action game lik eBayonetta or Devil may cry. The real meat of the game is in it's ridiculous QTE powered cutscenes, which are constantly there through the whole game. You barely spend a minute of gameplay ever without a QTE cutscene.

The entire game is built around it though, and it's glorious. The game is an experience everyone should at least watch being played through once.

Pucker your butthole and watch this (not even the most epic of scenes in the game):
lol. Should I, or should I stay blissfully ignorant, not watch this, and just get the game?

Though I love Devil May Cry, I also love QTEs. I'll give this game a try.

That'd be narrative strength. I love bayonetta, but even Jubeleius felt like fighting a giant statue with some powers. Narrative says it's god, but she's not mechanically. Hell, Baldur was a tougher opponent.

I knew this would come up, but Kratos gets his shit slapped pretty often. Narratively, atleast. Gameplaywise, on harder difficulties, Kratos gets quite restricted in how you can play him. So I feel he's only unstoppable on lower difficulties. He's not someone who is particularly powerful on either level.

Bayonetta just summoned another God with the help of Jeanne to kill the half powered Jubileus, narratively she is no match for her. she comes across as weak in the sequel..

My choice would be this motherfucker
Gamer0-ReviewAsurasWrath447.jpg

He is defeated many times, but he always comes back, now with more anger than ever, you never see him as weak, he is always badass but also determined to save his daughter, the way he ups his enemies with pure strength (except for the final boss) is amazing to watch.

He is one dimensional, but is Kratos done right.
I forgot to find out, are there any new story elements that are going to be added to DmC as well? Or is everything just gameplay changes?
There is a new cutscene that could not make it to the final game, what it is, we dont know.

1. Kirby

the rest
Asura, Kratos, Shulk, the like underneath him

How strong did you feel playing as him? The final boss poses zero challenge with the Fierce Deity mask.

Actually, when it comes to how powerful you the player feel, I'm with this guy
The OP asked how powerful YOU, the player feel, not who is canonically the most powerful, and although the other guys do give you that feeling of power, Fierce Diety Link made you feel god like killing bosses that were much more difficult before

oh hey how about this: the player "character" in SimCity. truly powerful, he commands the very forces of nature (tornados, earthquakes, floods, etc.) and can eliminate entire civilizations with a few mouse clicks. some of the most fun I've had in any game is loading up one of the already-made cities and unleashing the wrath of god, just to watch the "sims" burn.

I wasn't arguing for bayonetta narratively, but the demons she summons are under her control. I don't see why the God one would be any different and thus not count as part of her power

Okami Amaterasu?

It's the actual god of creation in that game. She can create whatever she feels like with ease, manipulate the heavens, and slice thin air in half.

Then again, she does have her limits, somehow.

Well.. it was still with Jeanne's help and a weak Jubileus, i think that doesn't have much to do with her power, as Gommorah broke the seal and killed Jeanne, and that was a less powerful demon and a stronger Bayonetta.

But, im not sure if you saw the edit, there is one new DmC cutscene that was absent from the final game due to time, we don 't know what it is.

Oh, sorry, I thought we were trying to work out who the most powerful player character is, but based on some of these responses I guess I was wrong. :/

Most certainly Kirby. I meand in Epic Yarn he literally erases people from existance when he eats them.

First off, I'm glad you had the foresight to identify both perspectives (as this was my initial question upon reading the title).

Mechanically, without taking into consideration abuse such as cheats or mods, I suppose the most powerful avatar I recall playing as was from BattleTanx. The game was a cake-walk and I don't believe I ever lost due to death.

Conceptually, the most powerful avatar I've played as would probably be the Wing ZERO. It destroyed an entire Space Colony in one shot. Dual Buster Rifles baby!

I forgot to find out, are there any new story elements that are going to be added to DmC as well? Or is everything just gameplay changes?
One more cutscene will be in there. Though it won't really change up the story that much, it will still be more of the same.

When i see Asura i see him as a sort of japanese Kratos lol

I would say DMC4 Dante and Bayonetta, Asura and Kirby are surely more powerful but i rather consider the gameplay aspect: it's not about making a super power attack that blows everyone, but if you're good enough you can literally slay enemies with Dante and Bayo (even taunting/kidding them at the same time), that's what makes them so powerful imo.

From a gameplay standpoint, Bayonetta for obvious reasons. I do have to give an honorable mention to Wonderful 101. By the end,
the game is on a cosmic level and every Wonderful One is inside their own commandeered giant mech. The same giant mechs you fought throughout the game on a ground levelx100 + Platinum Robo. The perspective and gameplay remains the same. Its a really nice use of scale to demonstrate how much more powerful the team gets, also dat final QTE....

Yep, W101 has indeed the most powerful finale i've ever played.

I feel like a ton of the games being mentioned here have 0 gravitas. When I think of power, I think of it based on the confines of the game and the narrative.

Prince from Katamari is a wonderful example, you understand his premise is the absolute ability to roll a ball. The prince can pick up the smallest of all objects, and then as his ball grows, the size of the world scales to show the evolution of his power. It's grounded in a sense of scale, and the implication is that it's endlessly capable of growing.

Kirby punching a planet in half implies that the planet was made of Styrofoam based on what kirby's actions typically are, on such a micro scale. It's just goofy in that context lol.

Heavenly sword did a great job at grounding the character, and showing examples of absolute power at the end.

But if were talking cross game powerlevels here, then yeah, Asura lol. That game is absurd :P

I never actually felt that powerful as Bayonetta. Maybe I just suck.

Kratos definitely. Everything he does just feels so incredibly strong. Below that is both Prototype protagonists where you leap across cities in a single jump and chop everything into pieces with your bare arms.

Commander Shepard did feel like the singular biggest badass in the universe, with the entirety of the crew in second place.

I always had Squall on the verge of death throughout the entire game, with a party member ready to toss him a plain Phoenix Down (bringing him back to critical) every time he died. Pretty funny watching Squall immediately drop to his knees at the beginning of every battle.

Most powerful in terms of powerlevel:

Came to post this, haha.

But yeah, Demi-Fiend feels like the kind of character that's extremely powerful in both areas. Mechanically he practically breaks the game the minute he gets Freikugel, giving him enough power one-shot any random encounter and become known as one of the hardest bosses ever in Digital Devil Saga. Narratively, well...
getting the True Demon Ending results in him basically destroying all of reality itself, leaving only his demon allies and his enemy, God.
The guy's tough.

Cole MacGrath

Sucker Punch has done a lot for this FEEL DA POWER of superhero.

By the end of inFAMOUS 2 you are a powerhouse who could probably take on Superman. Especially as Beast-Cole.

My Skyrim character with enchantments maxed out is insanely powerful, though I feel that is cheating this thread.

New Game+ Korra in The Legend of Korra game is also insanely powerful with the always-full chi talisman equipped.

I'm going to have to go with Super/Hyper Sonic, being super fast and invincible makes you feel so good.... I mean Sonic has done some crazy things in his base form add to that the power of the Chaos Emeralds (which are said to give energy to all living things), and you have yourself one powerful dude. Also lets not forget that in 'The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog' he is said to be faster than Warp Factor 9 (which is like 1,516.4 times the speed of light) :P

Ryu's Dragon Hybrid in BOFV is a frickin' monster, so gameplay wise it's him. But plot wise it's Shulk form Xenoblade.
Dude can alter reality to basically whatever the hell he wants with Monado's full power and restores his girlfriend's human body (which was killed, nearly completely destroyed and turned into a cyborg) with no effort. He'd just will all the other god killers out of reality before they put a hand on him...not that they would because he also sees the future.
