In this day and age of "rewards", you get points on your permanent record for fully completing games. That's great, as a signifier of your status as a thorough game player. But tell us about that time in your life as a gamer where you felt personally rewarded, that amazing feeling of achievement, that came with beating a boss, overcoming an opponent in a vs. battle, or even coming to posess a particularly awesome game.
I would say the last time I felt that sense of achievement was when I recieved Shadow of the Colossus for my birthday. I am saving it, savoring the ownership of it, and relishing in the torment of finishing all the other games on my list first before I settle into it.
One of my proudest moments in my gaming life was in college. I had all my friends and dorm neighbors around to watch me destroy the emerald weapon in FF7. Just having all those people there to witness it heightened the feeling that I had actually accomplished something worthwile in the game.
How about you?
