What are the Midnight Riders doing in this game?

Looking good. It's odd that the drivers are so detailed this time (at least the motorcycle guys). Does this mean the game will have a more character-based narrative?

The IGN preview says so.

Did some-one say 4 player splitscreen online! I'm IN! Does Pacific Rift have this?

Nice interview, with some nice artwork.

From the demo track it appears the dynamic events play out the same each race, will there be some variation in the final game?

Firstly in single-player, every race is different – over 40 races, all unique. If the player chooses to re-play a track then they will experience a carefully balanced blend of emergence and control, so the big-scale events happen every time, but the consequences are completely emergent and unpredictable. If you think about MotorStorm’s usual approach to the behaviour of the AI opponents – well, we’ve applied that same system to the city. We’ve taken a lot of time and care to find the right balance here.

The demo featured a sports car – will the final game feature any new vehicles or environments not yet hinted at?

To confirm – we’re adding Super Cars, Super Bikes, Hot Hatches, Muscle Cars and Choppers. We spent some time asking ourselves ‘what new vehicle should we add?’ before realising that there was nothing stopping us from adding stacks of them. All of the existing favourites will still feature too, and in classic MotorStorm style each has a fighting chance of winning the race depending on how they approach it. Want to ride a Big Rig across the roofs of skyscrapers and offices? Go for it!

I wonder if those actually change the way your car handles...

HYPE!

I also hope they're not static and stuck to the ground (if it is simply rubble).

Looks pretty damn good and I wouldn't have known what direction to go after the first two. Hyped too.

As someone who has only ever played a Twisted Metal demo... is MS headed in that direction? Obviously there aren't weapons but the aesthetic reminds me of TM (caveated with me saying again that I've only ever played a TM demo!).

EDIT: I also hope the same big events happening every time doesn't kill this game's repitition value.

i gotta tell you sony is doing a great job on having the press talk about them every week from lbp2 to killzone 3 to infamous 2 to now motorstorm and 3D

OK seriously even if Sony's conference is shit: They still win E3! We'll be seeing all ingame footage of : MS3, infamous 2, LBP2 and Killzone 3 ==> WTF crazy line up!

Cool!!! But I still need to finish the first one and buy the second one. This game could be a few more years out for me

Yes it did.

Anyway, the game looks incredible, really, really incredible. I want to see it in action, but just by reading this previews it looks like it's going to be a mind blowing experience.

'nother preview:

http://ps3.nowgamer.com/previews/ps3/1033/motorstorm-apocalypse

. The third game in the series is… well, it’s insane. We were invited along to see the first showing of MotorStorm: Apocalypse, had the chance to play it for a few hours, and that’s the only thought that keeps going through our heads – this game is insane, and in all the right ways.

In this icon-driven element that ships with the game, players can create unique rule sets for completely new games modes.

The system was used by Evolution to create all of the race modes in the game and – very much like Media Molecule’s approach with LittleBigPlanet 1+2 – they’re looking forward to what the public can do with their baby. A simple example would be a mode where eight players control super-powered big rigs and one other a small, weak motorbike. The bike has to do laps around the rigs to score points, the rigs have to smash up the bike to score. It’s a pretty straight forward approach as relayed to us by a developer, but it gives some idea of the level of creativity players can put back into Apocalypse.

Every created mode can be placed online for others to mess about with, and a full ratings system will be implemented so you’ll know whether to bother playing a certain way or not. We were even told that there’s a chance for the best-received creations to enter the official rotation of online playlists.

Graphically things look to have been ratcheted up a notch or two, with things like dynamic lighting and headlights showing up for the first time – useful in the new night time races, of course. But the major change when we’re talking about looks has to be the sheer amount of activity going on – all tying into this ‘insane’ mantra we seem to be chanting at any given opportunity. Look into the background at any one time to see huge skyscrapers collapsing, forming new routes or blocking off old ones, helicopters soaring overhead, a flaming big-rig zig-zagging in front of you and two dozen Crazies trying to stop your 100mph ball of metal, by standing in front of it.

One thing I'm wondering about hasn't been answered so far; is there a cockpit view this time around? Also, can you run over the looters/PMC's? No preview seems to touch upon it.

This looks like 2012. Should be pretty kickass. Evolution needs to come up with a way to make playing agressively more rewarding. There's no sense in taking the risk of trying to make another car crash when said car can catch up again in 5 seconds.

Not really understanding the hype from GAF for this game at all seeing as Pacific Rift was pretty underwhelming and was overshadowed at the time by Pure. Last I heard it wasn't selling all that great either and the fact that we have already had quite a few excellent racing games released this gen puts this new Motorstorm title well and truly in the ''Cautious'' category for me at least anyway.

The single-player campaign will be a story-driven experience. We’ve been inspired by titles in other genres such as action adventures and shooters, but naturally given it the MotorStorm treatment. Players will get the same festival seen from the perspectives of three unique characters, each of whom represents a different difficulty level. Our approach to story is very gameplay-driven. On top of this Wreckreation is now massively expanded, featuring customisation, a Game Mode Creator, a Perks system, Experience-based Ranking and much, much more. We really think we’ve got something very special on our hands.
So does that mean a difficulty level ? Choose a character / difficulty at the beginning of the game ? Or will you have to play as all three characters ?

Game Creator sounds fun too...

I guess you haven't even bothered reading any preview and are just basing your expectations on Pacific Rift.

This is not what other people are doing in this thread.
