Hey, how timely. A movie about WW1 ANZAC? Awesome. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll look it up.

Need to get the taste of Passchendaele out of my mouth. Seriously, it was awful. I am still in shock at how completely awful (especially the ending) was. Just awful. So, so awful.

Yeah, let me know how you like it. They show a different perspective of the war and the acting is pretty good IMO.

The Fountain [2006] decent although I was largely confused

El Mariachi [1993] good, I think this is the lowest budgeted movie I've seen to date. only 7k

Desperado [1995] good, rpg's out of a guitar case is bad ass :lol

Once upon a time in mexico [2003] not good. was pretty cool how he shot marquez in the knees

Need I say more?

Breathless (2009, South Korea) - That was brutal, the bulk of the film pretty much consisted of people getting beaten up, verbally attacked etc. It was rather unsettling to watch at times. An excellent film regardless one of the best of 2009 I've seen. The ending was perfect, and the fact that they managed to make me sympathize with the main character. (despite how despicable he was throughout most of the film) was a achievement.

Brazil - I sadly haft to admit, I've tried to watch this twice but i ended up falling asleep half-way through every time. (not because it was bad or sleep-inducing mind you). This time i finally managed to finish the whole thing in one sitting. And it was really good, definitely one I'm going re-watch sometime in the future.

Badlands - My second Terrence Malick film. Surprisingly beautiful for a film with a subject manner like this. The use of narration made it feel like somewhat of a precursor for days of heaven. Except i felt that days of heaven used it far more effectively.

Goodbye Lenin - This is one i blind-rented and was pleasantly surprised. It's unique premise took me off guard. (and was extremely well-executed to boot). And the film as a whole was extremely funny and charming, the ending was also bittersweet and almost made me shed a tear.;_;

Lives of Others - Just a really good political thriller and film. The ending in particular was well-done.

Delicatessen - Loved the visual look of this, and the "squeaky spring" sequence was well-directed and really awesome.:lol couldn't believe what i was watching when i first saw it. As a whole i think this is one of the better Jean-Pieree Jeunet films. Which is pretty impressive considering it was his first film.

You might like a French film, Blame it on Fidel, if you liked Goodbye Lenin. The similarity between the films is more than title deep, I promise :lol

I saw Due Date last weekend. It was okay. Not as bad as the reviews suggest, but nowhere near as good as I hoped. Disappointing.

I just watched Beneath Hill 60 yesterday. For any World War 1 buffs, it was a GREAT movie (even if you're not a World War 1 buff tbh)
This interests me a lot. I never heard of it and WWI films are pretty rare. Hopefully it is war movie and not just just set during that time.

It's not about soldiers per say. It's about miners from Australia who had a huge part in the largest explosion the world had ever seen at that point. Check it out, it's quite accurate and there's plenty of war to go around inside the film.

I also watched this tonight:

It was a fun movie, but oh my god there were some HILARIOUS parts. I laughed so hard at one point my stomach was hurting. Haven't laughed like that in a LONG time! :D

I too watched Chocolate after recommendations here and though fighting scenes were good everything else was really bad.

I watched this yesterday, thought it was okay. 6/10

It was cool to see an autistic character as the lead in a movie like this.

I actually sort of disagree with your thoughts on it though. I thought that the fighting scenes were somewhat typical (Specifically in comparison to the films that were being paid homage to), while the "hook" of the character being mentally disabled allowed for an above par character story. The gangster subplot is corny as shit of course, but I liked the relationship between the girl, her friend, and her mother.

6/10

I liked it, seemed very different from what I was expecting up until the final 2 of 3 scenes where it becomes exactly what I expected. The ending really pissed me off and bummed me out, film probably lost 2 points because of it.

I liked the contrast between the scientist, they start out feeling completely different about Dren, eventually their feelings switch. Unfortunately, it seems like it took a helluva time to get to here, and by the time they start exploring this theme, the movie turns into Van Helsing or something at the end.

It looked more expensive than I had expected. No Avatar of course, but the effects people did a decent job here, thought it would look phonier at times.

Recommend me a movie.
If you want a quality answer you should show a little effort when asking for a recommendation. I mean you could easily look through the various reviews of his movies in this thread and find stuff, but if you're looking for something specific you should specify.

Recommend me a movie.
Stuburns already beat me to my first recommendation. But i did recommend - 4 months, 3 weeks, two days to a friend recently when he was asking a similar question. So I'd go with that.

Even though I had watched it earlier this year, I sat down again and watched The Secret in Their Eyes with my partner. She really loved it.

Even though it came out last year in Argentina, it's still one of my favourite movies I've watched this year. Brilliantly woven and edited, the two leads are as beautifully put together as always. Anyone who hasn't seen it really needs to go out of their way to track it down.

The Hangover - Best comedy I've seen since Step Brothers. Not as laugh-out-loud funny (but close) but I loved the characters and the situations they got into. Should I see Old School?

Fuck yeah. Old School is one of the best comedies ever.

Just watched Black Christmas (1974) on Netflix streaming. Pretty good horror movie, and quite revolutionary for the time. It relied on what I really like in horror movies, which is the fear of the unknown, and not just in your face gore. Towards the end it got pretty suspenseful. I originally saw the remake a few years ago and hated it, which is probably why I had little desire to see this.

It also helped me recognize a movie quote I had heard mentioned many times, but now I know where it came from. spoiler...
"The call is coming from inside the house!" I figured it out before they said it, but it was a pretty cool line. Another awesome thing about the movie is you really have no motive or identity attached to the killer, which only adds to his creepiness.

Harry Potter 7.1

I really liked the books back then and I enjoyed most of the films.. but this one? Meh. The camping part was too long, bad camera work in a few action scenes... At least Emma Watson was looking good. With long hair :D

Jesus, Fritz Lang was so ahead of his time. I mean the cinematography and the directing style were just crazy for an early 30's film. I also enjoyed how it switched from sound to silent, but I was turned off that there was literally no music. Wasn't as good as Metropolis though.

Overall - It's easily a milestone in cinema and Fritz Lang further himself as a genius in cinema, but the film hasn't aged as well as other ye olde classics. Worth the watch for the cinematography alone.

Does "7.1" refer to the movie, or the score you gave it out of 10, or both?
