I'm simply curious as to people that have had experience with all three major consoles this gen so far, how they stack up against each other.

Anyway outside of games...

I really like the Wii's user interface. The news channel and weather channel are both very nice touches. The web browser isn't great, but it's actually better than the PS3's despite it been SD! I wouldn't use either though, as my computer is attached to the same TV as the PS3/Wii/360.

On the otherhand, the PS3's experience is slowly but surely building up; it's made good gains and it seems like they've been listening, so my satisfaction with it is also growing. Next step; grid style lists for music/images/videos.

The X360 is getting better too, but for the fact that the X360 is just disgustingly loud. 40 dB just 3 feet away from me. I prefer the clean/minimal PS3 gui to it, as well as the speed with which you browse through lists. The X360 by comparison feels very... viscous.

As far as games go, without a doubt, the X360 has provided the most satisfaction there thus far. Dead Rising, Lost Planet, GoW, Saints Row, Forza 2 been my main highlights on the system this year. I get the feeling that the more mature exclusives on the X360 this year will also leave me more excited than the PS3 games I'm hyped for this year. (e.g. Lair vs Ace Combat 4? Cmon! No comparison).

External reports about the X360 failure rates and my own consoles multiple DREs are making me nervous about my 360's build quality. I'm not looking forwards to having to deal with the warranty - having an asian system in australia, the warranty probably isn't even valid, even with the 3 year warranty.
 
360 -- Has been XBLA (Doom, TMNT) only for months. Bioshock will change that soon. The demo was fantastic.

PS3 -- Backwards compatability mostly. MGS3, Mercenaries, R&C:GC etc. I did pick up Motorstorm recently, though. Looking forward to the sequels to those PS2 games.

Wii -- My most played console over the summer, due to RE4 (never beat it on GC; almost finished with my second run on Wii) and VC (Ristar, WBMW, N64 games). Looking forward to MP3 and the VC release of Super Metroid.

DS -- Sudoku included in Brain Age.
 
This thread might be a testament to the joy that gaming as a hobby brings to all of us, regardless of the hardware we own. Or it could be something else. It's half and half so far.

If you're that scared, just sell your system while it's still working and get a new one. It's better to lose some money then everything if it dies. However if you found out that your warranty is valid, then put the 360 in the hottest place possible and just run it for several days straight. If it dies, get a new one from MS. If it doesn't, it means your 360 is rock solid. Either way, you win. I agree with you that it sucks to have a very likely unreliable system but what's the point of getting one if you're afraid to play it.
 
Have a 360/PS3/wii and a DS and PSP.

Been playing mostly DS lately as I've been out of the house more than in. Plus I picked up the coolest cheesy xbox shooter, Darkwatch, for peanuts and it's so damn fun!
 
Been playing Forza 2 on the 360 the most this summer, but as soon as I get Persona 3 in the mail (Friday) that will be the main game I play until Bioshock comes out (and I get my desktop back)...
 
PC - Various old-school FPS's
PS2/3 - Persona 3/Blu-Ray movies
Dreamcast - Shenmue
360 - Nothing
Handhelds - ditched, they hurt my eyes
Wii - Nothing

I own all 3 of the new systems.

The 360 gets the lion's share of my playtime. I buy most multiplatform games on it, as they either come out first on it(Oblivion), or perform better (Darkness, COD3, etc). If multiplatform games start running better on the PS3, I'll have to consider making the switch. Certain games, like shooters will probably still be bought on 360 for the better controller, unless the performance gap is significant, or if the PS3's extras are really good, like with Stranglehold.

The Wii is my second most-played console. Wii sports still gets playtime with friends, and I really enjoyed Super Paper Mario. I don't buy multiplatform games on it, ever. I've hated every game so far that I've tried which tried to translate traditional controls into gestures, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

PS3 is barely played at all. I played some Resistance when it came out, and didn't really care for it. Like with many FPSes, I played until there was a platforming sequence, and shelved it forever. Platforming + not being able to see my feet = game I won't play. Since then, I've played nothing but downloaded titles and demos on it, and a couple Gamefly rentals. Super Stardust is cool, and Calling All Cars is a must when friends are over.
 
Been playing the PS3 the most thanks to HSG5, my current obsession that I expect to last a few more weeks at least, though will be splitting time with Bioshock soon.

I imagine I'll use 360 for multiplats although I'm not wed to the idea if/when PS3 gets a better version. Mostly waiting for Puzzle Fighter and Bioshock, but been pretty quiet on the 360 the past few weeks.

Wii really hasn't gotten much love but that's mostly because I haven't had the chance to game with my wife for a while.

I'm not *that* scared. It would just be extremely bothersome to have it die, then have to send it off for repairs.

What, you think I'll be at a lack of games if one console dies? :p
 
right now im 90% wii.l but thats cuz its new and i need to beat zelda before bioshock..

ill get metroid and mario for wii this year... 360 is gonna rape me though
 
I may be spending 100% of my time on the 360 at the moment. But I still love all of my systems.

The DS was possibly the best system I had ever bought at the time. I got a tonne of use out of that thing and my game library for it matches or beats any other system I've ever owned.

The PSP was worth it just for Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins which was my GOTY of last year. I also really enjoyed the Capcom Classics games.

The Wii I initially played a lot of, and I still love the system. But I'm waiting for some more interesting games to be released. It's still the best thing you can have at a party besides alcohol and hot chicks. The system never gets a single rest during the entire night.

I just wanted to throw that in there in case people thought I was being negative toward my other consoles. I'm completely in love with my 360 at the moment sure. But I've only owned it for maybe 4 weeks or so.

Own a PS3 and Xbox 360. The 360 is my games machine, and it's not that loud at all. I think if a console could give me a headache like the OP I'd sell it. The PS3 is a movie / Ninja Gaiden player right now.

I love all my hardware too. Well, mostly. I love the way Wii looks but it lacks "inner beauty". There's nothing wrong with loving your systems but it's dumb to buy a system that you don't like just to make negative comments about it. It makes no sense to have a system and ignore all the great games for it because it ain't your "system of choice". God, I hate that term.

Well. I don't hate my Wii. I just bought into the hype too much, even if there are a few games I'm looking forward to on it. The n-fans praising it as the new saviour of gaming or some such earn a special bit of ire from me though.
 
PS3 gets most of my game time with Sigma, Vegas and BC, since the PS2 backlog is huge.

I barely touched the Wii, last game I played was RE4 Wii, which I played for an hour.

PSP gets a lot of play with Puzzle quest, Bomberman, Brave story and DJ max 2.

DS gets decent play time with Odyssey and Castlevania PoR.
 
Ok so:

360: Most use, actually tons of use, also the one i had the longest, so not fair, but yeah. Crapped out on me though, then it arrived from the repair center crapped, so now i'll only be able to get back to it late september.

Looking forward to Bioshock, Blue Dragon, Stranglehold, Mass Effect, Halo 3....and whatever this fall

PS3: 1 month old system for me. 360 is k.oed so i'm doing my gaming on it right now, FFXII right now. Looking forward to Uncharted and Heavenly sword this fall.

Wii: Haven't picked it up since january, waiting for MP3. Excited for that and SMG.

Multiplatform games...depends. If it has big MP and people on my XBL list are picking it up, i go with that. Then it's about what version is better mostly, altough shooters -> 360 pad for me.
 
Barely touched my Wii lately (Snarf!) though I still take it out for wii sports now and then.

PS3 I already miss Warhawk, play alot of Tekken and VF5, trying to improve my Resistance skills.

Most of my time has been in PS2 games right now with Odin Sphere, Metal Gear Solid : Subsistence, and God of War with sides of KOF2006 with FFXII, GoW2, and now Persona 3 staring me in the face yelling for attention.

Any time away goes to Etrian Odyssey thanks you you bastards with a side order of Castlevania POR.

I sold my PSP as soon as the light was announced because I knew the resale would drop, but as fucked as it sounds I am having Lumines withdrawls.

PC is torn between Lord of the Rings online and FEAR single player (finally).

Still waiting for .65 to "Jump in"

As far as my coming list:

PS3 - Stranglehold, Heavenly Sword, Unreal 3, Ratchet and Clank, Assassin's Creed..smeg just too freaking many

Wii- Nights, Raving Rabbids 2, I know there are more my mind is just blanking.

DS-Mainly the DQ games.

Multiple OS, yes.

Mac that plays all Mac + PC games (OS X, XP, Vista when necessary, etc).

I do spend some time on others' PS3/360/Wii, but don't own any of them.

Wii is basically only coming out on party nights - for which it is fantastic, but other than that it's pretty dornant. I like the machine, but outside of being the party funbag, i haven't seen anything too exciting to date. I think this will be like the DS where we will suddenly get a whole brace of stuff coming after another 8-10 months or so.

PS3 get used a lot for Bluray, but in terms of games, it's mainly being used for Mingol. Resistance, Motorstorm etc - i'm done with. If i was a PS3 only owner , i'd be smashing my face into a brick wall in frustration right now... then again, i guess that if i was then i wouldn't have played all the games that appeared last year on the X360 , so i might still have been playing Oblivion or Fight Night or something. Lair and Warhawk could be interesting, but the games they are going to be going up against for my attention will probably mean i'll be having these for a real lazy day when there is nothing better to play.

X360 - games games games games games games games games games. More to come , crazy line up. I admire those who have yet to take the plunge for their resolve and for suffering without a machine with such a fabulous line up whilst waiting for your console of choice to catch up. I'd be going stir crazy by now.

Are the multiple installations hard to do? I was interested in trying what you did but I was worried that the Mac OS won't support the 8800 GTX.

It doesn't make sense any way you spin it. Why would you purposely break it and wait for a month or more for a new one with the slew of new games that are starting to trickle in now?
 
Currently on my 360 I am playing through Project Sylpheed again. Wonderful gem of a game. More people should try it since it has probably been marked down quite a bit. On PS3 I am only playing Resistance currently. I have shelved Sigma since I have kind of lost interest. I have not touched my DS and PSP in months but will probably soon once Level 5 brings about their portable goodness. Will be buying a new pc shortly so should have quite a backlog of old and new games for that.

Mac Pro?

os x doesn't support the 8800gtx yet. but works just fine when booted in windows.

I don't care for graphics all that much so its not a problem for me. (don't even have a mac pro)
 
I have every console for this generation.

Wii - I love waggle (crazy I know), but I primarily picked up the console for Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros., Zelda, and the host of other quirky games that will inevitably hit the system.

DS - I got the DS when it first came out, and regretted it a little bit in the beginning. Then the flood began. Now days I play my DS more than anything, and I find it hard to find time to play any other console, considering all the awesomeness that hits DS.

360 - I bought 360 originally for Gears of War, Mass Effect, and Halo 3. I`m glad to see that there`s a lot more on the system worth spending money on.

PS3 - FF, MGS, Shirokishi Monogatari, all the big name franchises I love. I`m not disappointed or remorseful for my purchase. I enjoy the system, and it had one of the best launches of all the consoles, if you ask me.

PSP - I got a PSP when it launched, and I confess I hardly play it. I`m glad to see that there are plenty of good games coming out soon, but I still mostly use it to play Salamander Portable and the like.

Out of everything I have, I easily play my DS the most, and my Wii the least. Hopefully something changes in the Wii lineup, because I really love the system.
 
Well I own wii, ps3, and 360. Here's the lowdown on all of them.

xbox 360- I have barley any games as of right now, not trying to sound trollish, but it's broken down on me 3 times now, so I get nervous using. I don't see why people complain about the noise, it's really not any louder than say a computer while gaming, it's just very constant. I mostly use it for demos, I love the marketplace it's updated very often, microsoft has done very well with this. Once bioshock drops I'm pickin that up.

wii- Loved this thing to death the first week I had it and now with lack of money, and lack of selection of games I've slightly lost interest. If you have one, I strongly suggest the game warioware, that's been my best experience so far, but for the time being I haven't used this one that often.

ps3- This one is the one I use the most for a few reasons. First off I'll state the system has NO games at the moment, thank god it's comin soon though, warhawk, lair, heavnly sword. But the reasons I've been using my ps3 the most is, one because the system is SOLID as a rock, I usually leave it on all day, or folding so I just grab my multi-plat games for that. But the main reason is bluray if you have and HDTV I strongly suggest getting into this, this is the real reason I prefer my ps3 at the moment, it's not games/graphics/online, it's the blu-ray:D

ahh forgot DS and psp

ds- use it a HELL of a lot more than my psp, I love all the non-games, I also love NSMB and all that fun stuff, it's just a great system, I get nervous hearing all the stories about them breaking, but I still play the hell out of it.

PSP- Haven't used this in a long time. Solid little system, great for multimedia, great graphics, an awesome interface, it's just a little boring right now. But GOW is on the way and hopefully some more after that.

Because he had a old and much more unreliable 360? And the 360 warranty is not lifetime. Reread what I said. I only recommended that method if his warranty is valid.

I get your point about not having a system available but Crayon seemed to be worried about his 360 dying. The other guy twisted what I said. I didn't tell Crayon to break his 360 but just check to see if it's reliable or not, instead of having to always worry about it.

Personally, I wouldn't worry if my 360 will die. If my 360 needed to be repaired while I really needed it, I'll just buy a new one and sell the refurbished one. Of course you could also return the new one in the US if you don't feel guilty about that sort of thing.

If it's working fine and under the warranty why speed up the process? If you want to risk breaking the system at least do it during a game drought.
 
Wii- Getting some VC action right now, particularly Punch Out! and Super Mario World. Also I've been revisiting Fire Emblem: PoR in anticipation.

DS- Bits of many many things, which is great. Still working through Pokemon, and playing EBA, NSMB, FFIII, Advance Wars DS, Etrian Odyssey, and Yoshi as the mood takes me. I'm not playing this as much as last year but that's only because DS was nearly the only thing I played last summer.

PS3- Still trying to get into Oblivion, still largely failing. Super Stardust HD makes hours vanish if I'm not very careful. Overshadowing those titles I think P3 will be occupying my PS3's disc slot for a long while.

Which do I play most... How the hell should I know? I don't keep a time clock next to my consoles.

DS : Still have to finish Hotel Dusk and Lunar Knights, looking forward the next Zelda

PSP : On the last stage of Maverick Hunter X, missed it on snes, I'm having a blast with it! Looking forward Crisis Core and Castlevania Chronicles

PS2 : I need to get back to God Hand, so awesome. Looking forward...guitar hero 2 expansion and guitar hero 3

Wii : Still have to S rank the last track on EXCITE, looking forward RE:UC (I feel I'm going to get burned on this one) and hoping for a european release date for DQ Sword

PC : Bioshock can't come soon enough.
 
I have all next gen systems, Wii, PS3, 360, DS and PSP and the systems that I play the most are the DS and the 360, though lately I've been playing the PSP a lot ( Brave Story New Traveller and Tales of the World ), that will change though, once I get BioShock and Blue Dragon I plan to spend a lot of time with the 360 if it doesnt' die on me
 
360 - Gears co-op (probably for the last time in a long time)
PS3 - Stardust
Wii - System Updates
PSP - Puzzle Quest
DS - Puzzle League

Haven't bought any multiplatform games this gen.
 
PC: playing UT Classic, SimCity4 waiting for Bioshock, Crysis, Assassins Creed, UT3

Wii : playing RE4 waiting for SPM, SMG, MP3, Fifa, SSBB and loads others

GC : playing Fifa, MP2

DS : playing PPL waiting for Zelda, PW3

PS2 : playing VF4:Evo, GT4

I'll only add that I'm playing the hell out of RE4 for Wii cuz I could never beat it on GCN (I suck at games like that, but the Wii has enabled me to just aim and shoot... I've gotten much farther this time)

and your are the one entitled to demand from someone to include specific games in their lists when you clearly have missed terrific DS games ( like etrian odyssey for example) on purpose because of your anti-nintendo agenda? yeah, right.
 
I have 2 360's and a PS3. I have not touched my PS3 for games since I got bored of the GT demo. However, in my hourse, the PS3 is very popular with my dad who is slowly filling his collection of BR movies. There are 2 360's in my house, and now that is summer, I play with at least one of them everyday.

edit: I also have a gamecube which I played with 2 months ago while trying to beat Zelda:TP

Titles I have played lately in each console.
360: Halo 2, Halo 1, WE2007, NG Black, Fable, and tons of XBLA stuff.
PS3: GT demo, MotorStorm.
Gamecube: SSBM, LoZ:TP, MP2
PC: Minesweeper

Woo, XBMC! Mine's basically an Entourage box :D plus a lot of movies, <3 digital age.

Not using the 360 at all, really picked a bad time to make a new gamertag. Need a system of my own when 65nm hits for Bioshock and Halo 3, maybe some multiplatform titles (CoD4, AC, Orange Box) since I can't afford a PS3 for a while.

Been using the new iMac constantly, playing UT04 on that, gonna get into Brood War as well. I basically installed Boot Camp for the sole purpose of Steam, so I've got to play HL2/Ep1 the way they were meant to be played.
 
360 has Forza 2, and soon to be BioShock
Wii has Strikers, and soon to be Metroid
DS has FF3, which I play sporadically when I am away from home or too lazy to play above games.

PC has WC3 and Oblivion, both of which haven't been played in about 5 months.
