Multiplayer games with good netcode?

It seems like more often multiplayer games ship with lackluster netcode?

- My shots don't always register when I'm playing Black ops 3 (or any CoD) thanks to peer to peer.
- Overwatch running on 20 tick servers might get you killed behind a wall (not quite true, Overwatch client is 20, server is 60. My bad): http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1223286
- Battlefield 4 first 6 months, it was a mess.
- Mortal Kombat X and King of fighters has unplayable bad netcode (or that's what I've heard).
And the list goes on.

Where are the online games with good netcode. I can only think Titanfall and Killer instinct that launched with solid netcode and servers, but there's gotta be more?

So what multiplayer games are mostly lag free and have really good netcode? It can be any genre.

MKX's netcode was fine, perfectly playable. Not great, mind you, but a big step up over MK9 and Street Fighter IV.

Best netcode I've ever experienced in a game was Skullgirls (and by extension other GGPO fighters like Darkstalkers Remastered). So smooth, rollback worked great and it was great at telling you when you were going to have a bad connection. And even then, I found connections even over 100ms to usually be pretty playable.

Gears of War 3 was a close second, but I think the reason I was so impressed with it was because of how much better it was compared to 2.

legit best out there without contest

I was impressed with Halo 5's. Diablo 3 on PC is kinda a technical marvel with almost everything being simulated in the cloud it's had it's moments of shit and upper tier rifts with trillions of hp on monsters but for the 99% of players diablo 3 runs amazing with how much it relies on the net.

Overwatch's quickplay is 60 to server, 20 to client. You can enable 60 tick in custom games so can you really call the game as having bad netcode when it's Blizzard bad decision to limit quickplay to 20? I imagine ranked mode will be 60 default when it's out next month.

Maaaan, so much bullshit in OP

Overwatch has 60hz servertick, not 20hz.
Black Ops 3 is having dedicated servers, no peer 2 peer
Battlefield 4 had more issues at launch then netcode
Titanfall has 30hz tickrate, the lowest currently of the named shooters

Skullgirls has awesome netcode.

Unfortunately I haven't been impressed with the netcode in any recent team shooters. On the whole the move to near universal dedicated servers has definitely helped, things are getting better, but you get such low update rates on games like Rainbow Six Siege, Titanfall, Overwatch, BLOPS3, etc. that it's still kind of lousy.

But isn't Overwatch 60 server tick only in custom games?

Yes, Black Ops 3 PC version is full on dedicated servers, but console versions run on both P2P and Dedis.
Black ops 3 for me mostly play on P2P.

No! maybe check the thread you linked. It is 60hz server, 20hz client.

Bo3 is the best I have seen so far on console, it has servers you know and its very good if you have good internet (UK here).

Your post is so poorly informed, did you actually play Bo3 or did you just make it up ?

For lols Destiny has the worst net code and server set up I have ever played and favours bad connections - its atrocious....- shame, good game, crap match making, Bungie cannot spell ping and think 200 is low.

for p2p Red Faction Guerilla is amazing with all the destruction and still smooth as hell. Halo Reach very strong. UC4 is good. Cod2, Cod4.

Dedis: Titanfall, really good. Gears 3. WoW. Leagues

I have played BO3 over 200 hours.
For some people BO3 works really well, but other like me where Dedicated servers are really far away. It's not great.

Yeah I have 70,000 + kill, live near London, get local servers and 16 ms ping nearly every game and it runs faultless. I have 200 down optical fibre, wired Ethernet on Ps4. What pings do you get ?

However, if you live somewhere where the server is far away, or you have poor internet / ping to those servers or use WIFI you will suffer. But thats dedis for you, you need good internet.

But for allot of USA and a good part of EU the connections are good (which covers a large part of the buying public I guess)

For the record, Mortal Kombat X has been overhauled with a completely new online engine and new netcode that brings it up to Killer Instinct standards. Props to Netherrealm for this hugely expensive and time consuming achievement.

It is hard to say if a game has good netcode. Some people might find the game run well while people in other regions can't even play it. I can think of games that I play without netcode issue, but I don't know if they run well in Asia or Europe.

That's not netcode then. Thats a geoposition issue. It's like playing BO3 with a ten year old PC with 5fps and calling it poorly optimized. If there is no server in your region, it does not mean the programmers did a poor job.
