So I'm back from Comic Con. I got two Derpy posters and the foil cards that were included. So awesome. They are going for a lot on ebay right now but I wouldn't sell it. There were pony cosplayers galore but unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of/with them. This one guy had a Soarin hoodie and was holding a sword with the mane 6 on it looking angry. Twas awesome. Many brohoofs were recieved. Much fun was had.

Ha. Actually, I bought the second one for a friend who really wanted one but couldn't come. I should've got more but I'm surprised they actually let me get 2 considering that they were in short supply.

New information about the comic.

We'll definitely be SEEING the supporting characters, but the focus will be on the mane six. The Cutiemark Crusaders will play an important role in the first story arc. As we go on, I can see us showing the spotlight on fan favorite characters more, but for the most part, plan on a similar ratio of character time to the cartoon. They'll play a role, but won't be the central focus.

Outside of one of the covers, Luna won't be appearing in the first story arc. Doesn't mean we won't see her later. You'll see the pony commonly referred to as Derpy in #1. (I think as someone officially involved with the official licensed product, I'm not supposed to formally refer to her as Derpy. I probably will in the future though, as that's what everyone knows her as... not an official endorsement of the name though!!!)

And yeah, Andy is really a master of visual gags. There's great stuff, so many background jokes... tons of fun. Katie, being an artist, knows how to write a good visual gag too.

Anything is possible (well, not ANYTHING), but don't count on it in the near future. Pony will be it's own thing for a while. If we do one-shots, you'll definitely see Fluttershy get her own book. Speaking of which...

I'd say there's a good chance of seeing one-shot stories focusing on characters. Sometime!

Yeah, the first storyline see's the return of an established villain. Story arc #2 will see someone new. Lots of potential to explore with this series!

Fans of typical superhero comics can't say the world is coming to an end because a pre-teen girl's toy franchise is taking the top spot on the charts, beating out the likes of Green Lantern, Spider-Man, Batman and the X-Men... when Sailor Moon reprints have been regularly and are currently taking (or at least strongly contending for) the top spots on the reprint charts, beating out the likes of Green Lantern, Spider-Man, Batman and the X-Men.


Edit: Also Naruto. At volume 58. Pretty impressive.

Awesome. Went to a costume contest yesterday at the FYE store in the mall wearing the RD costume and took first place. Won $40 worth of free merch - picked up the Brony hat and the RD throw blanket/rug.

I did have some weird looks, yeah, but the hugs from all of the ladies (and surprisingly, dudes) as well as hi-fives from the kids outweighed the negatives by a landslide. People love ponies.
