GoNintendo said:As stated in our interview, and re-iterated in the N-Zone article, it was the publisher that enforced the awkward touch-screen weapon change feature due to it believing it to be a mandatory use of DS
As Nanostray had to be completed much earlier than anticipated, Shinen was not able to include things such as an introduction or cut-scenes
Nanostray 2 is actually Shinens fifth NDS title (including Nanostray and Miss Spider)
They now have much more hands-on experience with the DS hardware
Nanostray 2 is completely financed by Shinen itself, rather than an outside publisher, despite various offers and funding deals being offered
The game will use a different kind of perspective, like in R-Type Final, Ikaruga and Gradius V
The lower screen is to be used for the HUD, with the actual gameplay on the upper screen
The choice to avoid using both screens for gameplay was due to it not being possible to keep 60fps with 3D on both. Only 30fps would have been possible, plus 50% of video RAM be used by the second screen, decreasing the quality of textures on the whole
Shinen believes that fast SHMUPS are only possible with stable 60fps anyway, plus the gap between the screens would have proved problematic for gamers
There will be one main weapon and two satellite ones, with the weapon configuration being changed during pre-flight briefings, not during the actual levels
The game incorporates a clever Adaptive Difficulty feature where play becomes easier if the player is not doing terribly well, yet gets hardware the better you play
Scores will automatically be uploaded to the Nanostray 2 webpage via Wi-Fi, as well as the possibility of sending replays to the same site
Local wireless will be used for the multiplayer mode, however there is no online option because there would be too much lag involved
It is currently undecided whether for local multiplayer the single player levels can be used, or is this will be too difficult for the hardware when it has to show twice the amount of information, thus leading to them having to design new levels for the multiplayer experience
There will be mini games that can be unlocked in a special challenge mode for expert gamers
Interesting overall.
