It's been posted several times, but no matter how many times a dead horse is beaten, some people still won't listen.
The Last of Us: Remastered |OT| Are we still sure it's 60 FPS?
No one see this?

Because then it would just be ripped and uploaded to youtube, where millions of people wouldn't be able to see the bump in resolution or framerate, assume it looks the same as the PS3 version, and not buy the game.

Exactly. That's why I feel it was an option they could, or maybe should have not bothered with, considering it was a remaster which is supposed to be technically superior. Yeah, options, but it's silly for a remaster and perpetuates the idea 30 fps is somehow better when there are absolutely no trade-offs for running 60 fps in this case. I get the more effects at 30fps vs less at 60fps tradeoff, but there's none to be had here.
If 60fps TLOU is so great then why havent they uploaded a video of 60fps gameplay?
hate to be someone perpetuated this "placebo effect" mostly because like i said in the other thread when im gaming competitively like with counter-strike back on CRT monitors id be running at 120hz and have fps_max 300 active in the console, made a huge difference for me
and when i watch this video i definitely notice a difference, but im not quite sure its for the better - for a game like TLOU
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-watch-uncharted-4-and-the-last-of-us-at-60-fps
like i said it reminds me of watching movies with 120hz active on my samsung tv, looks like a studio set, really "play"ish, and it disturbs me
maybe im just getting old, lol
But the kicker is the new framerate. I’ll admit to being at least a bit skeptical on hearing that Naughty Dog would target a smoother, more fluid 60 frames per second for The Last of Us Remastered. I wondered whether it would add a distracting layer of artificiality, that it might somehow interfere with the game’s cinematic look and feel. Luckily, based on my hands-on experiences at a recent media event in New York City, those concerns feel entirely unwarranted. Played at the higher framerate, The Last of Us Remastered has a silky smooth feel that makes aiming and camera control feel more responsive and natural.

Maybe people will play it and they'll be like "oh god why is everything not right did I play the whole game like this last year" and realize the power of 60fps

jesus, maybe cause 60 wasn't possible? maybe cause "broken" is hyperbole?
It's not like Uncharted looks like crap at 60FPS. It looks better than any other 30FPS console game.Blah. For a game like Uncharted 30fps is fine. Shame UC4 going the 60fps route will inevitably mean parsed back graphics, or perhaps even game world size comparative to if it had been 30fps.
They could have always just gone with a locked 30fps with better visuals and/or bigger, more occupied world's, and then paid special attention to reducing input lag the way Evo or Playground have with DC and FH2. Isn't there some sort of tech method where you can have the inputs process at a faster rate compared to the graphics or something like that?
In any case, it's not like us gamers haven't had to switch between 60fps and 30fps games in the past, and felt the latter was broken when we did. Hell, all the Uncharted games are 30fps and revered and critically acclaimed none the less.
30FPS is practically unplayable.
When you play a game, you forget the pretty graphics after 5 minutes. But you won't ever forget sluggish controls and input lag.
Maybe people will play it and they'll be like "oh god why is everything not right did I play the whole game like this last year" and realize the power of 60fps

I for one welcome this change to 60FPS.

I have newfound respect for ND. And from what I seeing in some posts here UC4 will also run at 60? So glad they're taking things in this direction. Thank YOU.
need to post a 60fps video but this is some serious concern trolling...
"practically unplayable" is maybe going way over the top. Unstable FPS is unplayable. I think anyone would pick solid 30 over unstable 30-60. I like to think the whole frame rate issue in games recently is like comparing DVD and Blu Ray. Everyone knows blu-ray is the best way to watch a film (60FPS), but it really not that big of a deal if you have to watch a DVD(30FPS). It doesn't stop you enjoying the entertainment.
Yes, they even posted a 60fps version of the E3 trailer on their site. It's also on Gamersyde.

Haven't they already implied they're aiming for 60fps on U4?I eagerly await the backpedaling when it's announced that Uncharted 4 is 30fps.
However, as much as I am glad ND are going for 60, I selfishly hope that all the third party multiplatform developers will still keep targeting 30fps on consoles, because it will mean better graphics for me (on PC). But for console exclusives, please keep that shit at 60 thank you.

All footage you see in the trailer was captured completely in engine. Thats Nathan Drake rendered in 1080p full glory using the power of our PS4 engine. All footage you see in the trailer was captured completely in engine. Were targeting 60fps for Uncharted 4: A Thiefs End and as you can see the visual fidelity for our character models will reach new heights.
nobody is going to be like that.
blame id tech 5 and megatextures, not framerate
Thank idtech5 for that, not 60fps.
I returned TLOU after 30 mins because the performance was unacceptable to me. Turns out it was the right move ans even the devs agree with me.
Absolutely. Unlocked framerate is fine for me, I would rather have it than locked at 30. Killzone and Infamous we're better for not being restricted to 30fps. 60 lock would be better, but unlocked is good too.Don't have a PS4 but I'm curious. Would you guys be okay with an unlocked 60?

They've already said that U4 is 60fps
Well to be fair TLOU wasn't even a solid 30fps so I can understand the complaints. Hell, its one of the reasons I've looked forward to the remaster.is 60fps really that important to you people? I just don't understand.
I find this 'concern trolling' thing really tiresome these days on here. People can't show any level of negativity without being labelled with it.
Anyway. Seems from the tweets etc this is solid 60fps. So good. Especially as I never got the chance to try the multiplayer. Now, ND, how about that Gamersyde site eh?
is 60fps really that important to you people? I just don't understand.
I know, I mean the reaction when the downgradeaton happens.
I've made this analogy several times as well, instead using Blu Ray to VHS to illustrate my point. That's how big a difference it is to me. Sure, if it's my only option I'll deal, but fortunately it doesn't have to be. There's no reason more devs shouldn't at least be reaching for that benchmark.
Thanks.
What's not to understand? 60fps offers a superior gameplay experience.

TV refresh rates cause judder. It has to be a solid multiple of 60 in order to create a steady cadance. Can i just ask, if 60 FPS is hard to achieve, why don't developers try to get 50 or 40? Isn't a higher and solid FPS than 30 always better? Am i missing something?
So 60FPS is super awesome now?
What about dat cinematic feel?
Maybe we can just say that 60FPS offers double cinematic feel from now on?
If the original 30 FPS version of The Last of Us feels broken, then why did they happily ship it last year?
This is why I respect Nintendo so much when it comes to game development. They have their shit done right in the first place. None of this "fuck that thing we shipped last year" attitude.
Play Castlevania Lords Of Shadow on the consoles where the max FPS is 30 and generally it runs near 20 but drops down in the teens and then play it on PC at 60 FPS and then tell me you don't understand.
