NBA 2k NEXT GEN REVIEW IGN

As a NBA 2K fan, this literally looks like 2K14 current-gen with next gen graphics. If you already got the current-gen version, it'll probably be best to wait a year to get the next-gen version

If it had the same feature set or engine, I'd agree with you. But it doesn't.

Wait, did they actually play the XB1 version? In the 2 min clip from the review page they make it sound like they haven't actually played it on XB1.

Well they completely skipped over any differences other than saying both are 1080p and 60fps. So either they both are completely the same or they haven't played one or the other.

I don't get the ball physics complaint at all. That's a flaw on the player and not the game itself. Review was pretty much a press release. At least have someone that actually knows something about the sport play it.

I hated 2K12 because of it's
ridiculous
difficulty but might have to pick 2K14 for dat next gen feel.

Hmm *smacks lips*, dat Xbox One hate.

Mmmmmmmm.

Now think about if 2K had never been forced out of NFL games and was debuting next gen NFL2K14...

Very unhelpful review imo

IGN's sports reviews are never too helpful. They don't go into the details of the gameplay and focus mostly on the modes (I remember that one review when they spent a good chunk of time talking about Bieber for crying out loud).

Will wait for the OS review. But this one was a decent one in terms of the overview of all the modes. The lack of voice work for real NBA players in MyCareer is not a big deal for me, it would be hard for those guys to commit to that given their schedule.

Nothing. There is no footage of the Xbox One version, it was absent from 2K's own event the end of October, I really wonder h o w much time they had with it. They probably look similar, but it's just weird we have only seen one version then BOOM a review for the other version too.

All that was stated was both run at 1080p/60fps.

I don't think anyones played it.

It's weird that they are reviewing both versions then, considering there might be differences. Just put up the PS4 version and add the XB1 version in when you know it's the same. This is how we get things like the Skyrim PS3 fiasco, because people base their purchase off of the reviews and nothing is mentioned (I'm not saying it's going to be the same situation, but it's still a shitty practice without even seeing the game).

Wow, couldn't believe my eyes when the first snipped of actual gameplay went on. Thought I was streaming a game live.

INSANE. I have drifted away from sports games but I might just pick this up.

I really think they just scored it 8.9 for both PS4 & Xbox One w/o ever playing the Xbox version. There's a tiny font mention at the very top that this was reviewed with the PS4 copy.

For their sakes, the XB1 version better not be a PS3 Skyrim situation

They're doing gamers and potential buyers a great disservice by not comparing the two versions in any way, unless of course they look and run the same, in which case they should still mention it.

If they never played one version of the game it is pretty disingenuous to make this a review for both. You would think after Skyrim they would take more caution about doing this kind of thing. I am sure this happens all the time but I dont like it.

MyGM is a fresh, considered take on the age-old franchise mode. You control everything from roster moves to coaching staff to budget to hot dog and merchandise prices, and you have to keep your owner, coaches, players, fans, and the media happy along the way. It’s deep and gets rather engrossing, though you won’t earn many GM-related unlocks (such as influence in contract negotiations) unless you go in and play the games yourself, which adds a ton of time to a mode that should allow me to focus on the off-court parts of the NBA if I want to.

i see someone hasn't learned to play sports franchises in '5 minute quarters, 16 games per season' mode as any sane individual would...

I have to agree with the review video about this being a showcase game.

I don't follow basketball that closely and I haven't bought a sports simulation game in 10 years, but good god, it just looks so damned good.

I am really tempted to pick up just to drool over if nothing else.

Yeah this definitely seems like one of those games people will buy to show off pretty graphics.

And since others mentioned it, yeah, Next Gen Fight Night would be amazing considering how great FNR4 still looks.

I hope I'm not the only one that lost it at this part of that video review

I agree. This usually happens when you try to force your way inside and you run into someone, as a result you fumble the ball. I don't think anyone in IGN actually digs deep into basketball games, so we're stuck with this basically.
