NBA Elite is dead; long live NBA Live (Unveiling on Monday)

Sick n' tired of 2k's shit. Support has easily been at it's worst since EA dropped out for a break even though the game has been at it's best. I can't wait for live to come out to at least force 2k to provide more support. At the most, i'll get that breaking point game that EA had with NHL and Live. They got the technology, they've used it to turn the tides twice now. I expect the same for Live.
Hey, if it forces their hand to make online playable I'm all for it.

Dude are you me? I love 2k12, but the online is so laggy. (same with years before) I ask all my friends if they notice the difference between SP and MP , between button press and response ... all my friends say its just me.

Thank god someone else notices this, I can't even play online anymore. But playing SP is phenomenal, they really need to invest in dedicated servers it's a joke at this point.
They gave some bullshit line how there's still pieces of code built into the game leftover from the Dreamcast days and that's why the online performs so poorly.

Problem is, they claim they fixed that for 2K12. Same shit as always though.

In all fairness they did for the most part do away with the old stop and wait system that nobody uses in this decade. The game will buffer data until it can catch up preventing drops.

Still, several systems in the game are completely broken online due to lack of responsiveness. Not to mention several pretty serious game play flaws exist that they don't seem to give any kind of fuck about fixing. Granted i do play team up where all that is elevendy billion times worse than it is 1v1.

That Elite demo was a genuine piece of shit. But EA gave Take 2 a free pass and they actually got even better.

The original he be jesus vid was a blast.

Yep. Far as I know it's still P2P as it has been. Sometimes I get a great game, other times horrible lag. Dedicated servers it's 2012 ! They have the money.

One of the funniest things I've ever seen

I guess I'm one of the few who thinks the NBA2K series has a lot to improve on. The online needs some work, the menus have been consistently bad over the years IMO, and I still think the animation system needs some work to leave the player in control more.

I know it's popular to hate on EA sports games but I say we wait to see what EA comes up with before hating it. They've had an abnormally long development cycle, even bringing in new talent if I remember correctly from articles over the past couple of years.

Agreed , thing is 2k actually plays well. The online is abysmal. NBA Live just plays fundamentally bad, especially the dribbling system. 2k menu's will always suck though, there is no hope in that haha.

I'm so bored with the past 3 2k games, minimal improvements to the gameplay and online is still broken on PC.

SAVE US EA!!!!!!!

SAVE US EA!!!!!!!

I hardly expect that. But I really enjoyed NBA Live 10. I thought they had the game moving in the right direction, man do I hate saying that. But that could have had a lot to do with Mike Wang being there for that game, and then leaving after. Who knows.

It'll be nice to have a choice, again. Something sports video game enthusiasts barely have at all, anymore.

Damn.
Bynum continuing to die for our sins.

This still makes me die laughing! I remember the Live days, Live'98 with Hardaway on the cover. And then the glorious Dreamcast arrived with 2k. And I never looked back. I think Mike Wang's work on Live 10 was pretty evident, but his return to 2k brought Jordan. Motherfuckin' Michael Jordan! I'm all for new NBA ideas, maybe this franchise will be resuscitated in glorious fashion. I like my 2k though!

And still no NCAA game, these fuckers.

I miss the NCAA games too (both 2K and EA); I liked recruiting and developing players more than playing the actual games. Too bad the NCAA wants so much money for the license no one will make a game anymore.

Maybe that means NBA 2K will actually try to fix their flaws.

Who am I kidding..they same issues present in NBA 2K are still in NBA 2K12. They haven't changed a damn thing besides upgrading graphics..

The hell is that white goop:

The hashtag they're having players use on twitter is #FutureOfBasketball

Still would like to know if anyone has actually played NBA Live in the last 2-3 years ...
There hasn't been an NBA game from EA in two years.
2K needs to jump back in to that ring.
I don't think they can, doesn't EA have NCAA exclusivity?

2K is on such a roll with their series. As a basketball sim fan the announcement of NBA Live returning doesn't excite me in the least. NBA 2K12 is already practically the perfect basketball sim. I just can't imagine EA doing a better job, or even getting close to the same overall quality.

If they go back to the more arcade style gameplay that they had going with Live in the 90's I'd give them a much higher chance of success. Those were really fun games.

On a role? That shit is abysmal right now. At least if you have even a semblance of care for offseason modes.

Both association and my player are broken without a fix despite 4 - count them - 4 patches.

I can't even progress with my team of choice(the hornets) in association because every drafted rookie has nothing but cold zones all over the court( and you're not winning with the hornets using their current roster). A bug that's been around since 2k11. Even if I pump their rookie shooting stats up to 99 they will still shoot like shit and get outplayed by guys ranked in the low 80s.

And the freezing bug on the ps3? Unacceptable. I pray EA puts out even a remotely competent nba game because 2k is about dog shit right now.

Hmm, announcing an NBA game in February? I get that it has been a while, but isn't it a little early? Makes me wonder if this game is going to come out earlier than the usual October slot. If EA was smart, they'd get this game done in time for the playoffs to maximize sales and take a year and a half to work on NBA Live 14.

Didn't a few people get hold of the full version of NBA Elite? Those copies have to be pretty valuable by now.

I'd love that. I just want an offline association mode that isn't broken from one of the developers.

If EA can deliver it ill throw my 2k disc in the garbage and not look back.

2k sports has burnt me two years now and I refuse to buy their products "new" until they prove they deserve the revenue.

People claiming that NBA 2K12 is perfect are insane. The game is good, and has no competition at all so it sells tons.

However there are so many server issues it's not even funny. They seriously need to work on their servers asap. EVERY players runs at the same speed. No way in hell Greg Oden should match Monte Ellis in a foot race down court. Stats mean almost nothing in 2K12. There are so many broken mechanics I could go on forever. I hope EA step up and force the 2K series to actually work on the little things next time.

Exactly.

I'm looking forward to this. While NBA 2k10 was better, NBA Live 10 was decent and on the right track until Elite came and ruined everything.

Did copies of Elite 11 actually get out? There were rumors that some surfaced on eBay and I really wanted to buy one and keep it as an oddity.

IIRC, EA actually produced a normal first shipment of them. The game was delayed and then yanked only like a week before release.

I believe almost all the copies that are out there are PS3 ones.
