yes, if your HDTV accepts 1080P through component cables. You should try it even if the TV's manual doesn't say it's possible because sometime the manufacturer simply doesn't advertise the 10800 component capability.
It's really hard to tell which one's better when they do a left/right comparison. I wish they would just do a comparison with full screenshots. Can you guys tell which version has the better framerate from the videos?
I wonder how much smoother the game flows with the sixaxis. I remember how great the game felt with the DS2 back on the PS2. Playing the demo on the 360 feels awkward at times, mainly because I'm not comfortable having my middle finger on the trigger while simultaneously using my forefingers for the bumpers.

There are only 2 trick modifiers this time instead of the 4 that were on the past versions of street..... I don't think it will make too much of a difference on either controller this time. The demo played great to me. I have the full game + crackdown waiting for me in the car after work....

Yeah but turbo is your right trigger so when using a move involving Turbo+LB+RB I find it awkward.
Also: Thanks for throwing in my face that you will be playing 2 awesome games while I don't have either I'm tight on cash so I just play each demo alot and make believe it's the full version.
To me it just looks like they are using different (and worse) video capture for the PS3. Z360 capture looks more like digital / direct buffer, and PS3 maybe like component video capture (there's slight loss of sharpness and color saturation or brightness). Although it might be that it just looks worse.
I am loving the game. I am playing alot of pick-up games before starting the homecourt challenge.
I tried to play online, but when the score was 2-0, we got disconnected. I must learn not to play Live games on the first day of release. Always some lag or disc. problems.

Have you not played a Sixaxis? Unfortunately, the Sixaxis is not as comfortable as the Dual Shock. It's simply not comfortable switching from the top to the bottom shoulder buttons because of the way the shoulder buttons are staggered. NBA2k7 on the PS3 still didn't feel as good as the 360 version after several weeks of playing. Several friends have also commented that the the shoulder buttons on the Sixaxis don't feel as good as the ones on the good old Dual Shock.

No I haven't. My brother has a PS3 which I got for him but I have yet to sit and play it. From the pics I thought it was similar to the DS2 but that's really bad news about it being uncomfortable considering how natural the DS2 felt with these kinds of games. Whatever, I'll get used to the 360 controls soon enough, I really enjoy this series cause my friends and brothers all grew up playing streetball so we get some awesome 2 on 2 matches going.

You bought your brother a PS3, and you don't have one yourself? You're such a nice guy. Anyway, all you have to know about the Sixaxis is that its triggers are not even used for firing in Resistance nor throttle/braking in several racing games. The fact that the PS3 developers don't even use those Sixaxis triggers the way they are normally used , speaks volumes about the design of the Sixaxis.
Fortunately, it is possible to use a PS2 controller with some PS3 games. I have an adapter that allows me to do this. The only problem is that the keys are mapped differently with an adapter, the sticks are fine though. In a game that doesn't have custom configuration, the differently mapped keys might be a problem. Of course, rumble is still not supported.
After popping it in, I went to Practice, although I didn't need it since I've played the demo, I just wanted to see how much was different.
Luckily, not much changed, on the practive menu are options on-screen on the D-Pad in which each direction does one thing. I'm not sure if these are exactly right, but I believe < calls out a defender, > sends him back, ^ is for an Alley Oop practice, and v is for practicing dunks jumping off of the back. Yeah, basic stuff.
From there, I didn't need to do pickup games, I've already done them in the demo, I jumped straight into the Homecourt Challenge, which started off with Carmelo talking. It's pretty interesting, you don't actually create a player, you pick one, and then you choose whether you want to be a guard, forward, or center. From there you do face variation with NBA players combined with the players face that you originally chose.
It's pretty damned accurate and I was impressed. I gotta say. From there I jumped into recruiting two players, try to keep it balanced.
I played the game on hard, and boy, it's pretty challenging, and that's only the second hardest level (before Expert). It goes Easy > Medium > Hard > Expert. This is something important, on Easy and Medium, the dunk meter is shown when you're taking off, on hard and Expert, it's not shown. This makes things much more interesting as far as choices. Like in the demo, once you get used to double dunks, you can do them almost all the time, without the meter, it's a completely different story. More on that later.
Your stats, depending on your decision, suck for the most part, but you're still good in some aspects. I played a few challenges, such as pick up games, first to 5, win by 3, shots only games, and etc. All fun, and challenging on Hard difficulty. >_o
Then I got to playing against Carmelo Anthony, from which he talks about Cloverdale court, I personally like this for two reasons:
-One of my good friends is Carmelo Anthony's cousin.
-I'm from and live in Baltimore, and I've played on the court 2 times, so I can kind of relate.
Everytime you face someone big it talks about the history of their homecourt.
Your skills increase gradually as you gain RP, which is basically like Experience in an RPG that you get when completing (or even just competing) in a challenge. It comes pretty easy, so leveling isn't a problem, as a matter of fact some gear that is earned gains you extra RP if you wear them while playing in that challenge.
Something you may or may not want to know, it came as a nice little surprise for me so. . .
Besides achievements, you gain something nice for gaining levels, and particularly when you get to level 5 (I'm on 6) you are awarded a Freak Skill, which grants your created baller a maxed out skill (It bumps it up from the slug progressing straight to 100), whether it be handles, dunking, stealing, or passing, etc. This was very nice for me, and I picked dunking, it seems to make double dunks easier to do.
Okay, moving on from levels, along with that you'll want to make sure your power is being gained and you constantly recruit new players as you move on to new courts with new challenges. Power is essential for dunking because if you don't have it the defense will be a fly swatter and you'll be the goddamn fly. Especially on harder difficulties.
The overall gameplay is amazing, the trick remixer is an amazing renovation and is welcome. The dunks are phenomenal (Spelling lol) and everything flows together so well. It's all fluid and the animation is amazing, I believe all of you have seen how good the graphics are so no need to elaborate on that.
I stopped my Homecourt for a while and jumped online with one of my friends who got the game, getting online with a friend is insanely easy, just create a match and choose what kind of game you want it to be, there are quite a few different modes to keep the multiplayer across the world fresh and it's all relatively simple and easy to understand. All you have to do is connect to the EA servers, and from there you invite a person on your friends list, this is if you choose to make it invite-only. You can always make it a public match to meet new people.
Online was simply a blast, trash talking as you get in their pockets and steal the ball, being owned by a double dunk, or stealing their gamebreaker, it's like this game was made for online play and the headset together. It's just great.
About that dunk meter, goddamn did it throw me for a loop having it there in the demo and then playing on hard. There is definitely no dunk meter in online play and because of this I suggest you get ready for a change in how you do your double dunks and strategy on how you approach the basket if you're gonna play Easy or Medium online. I chose hard difficulty because of this reason, I want to get used to NOT having the dunk meter there, and I've made some progress, but it's still. . . kind of hard anticipating the right time.
I'd give it a 9.3/10 right now, I haven't played much online and I haven't played many of the modes, but theres a description for each so you don't need me for that. I'm enjoying it a lot, along with Crackdown, this is well spent money. Thank you EA.
If you wanna check me out or just play some games for fun, check me out at xl The Don lx.
I just got this game and it's really good, but damn whoever is good at steals can be annoying as hell. The steal system is a little different from the demo and not having the dunk meter (I too play on hard) takes some getting use too, but double dunks itself has changed though. When the meter is off, you have to let go right before you touch the rim. When the meter is on, depending on the played and dunk, the meter will fill up at times before the player is close to the rim.
Obviously, the better you are, the farther away one can be and still get a double dunk.
Steals are very annoying though... VERY. I'm hoping there is something to counteract it. The game is new as hell and everyone online is still learning the ropes so playing a game or two online won't be a rape-fest.
I loved me some Vol.2, but I felt like Vol.3 put waaaaay too much emphasis on tricks.
Homecourt seems to be closer to Vol. 2 at this point. You can win games without doing a single gamebreaker at this point. Also because even a point guard can block a shot consistently, defense is something that is given more priority. Meaning, if the other team is on a fast break, do you stick close to the player bringing the ball up (which would allow a quick 3) or do you run towards the rim to block an jumpshot (which will allow a monster dunk). I REALLY miss the commentary. I swear it is totally quiet when playing, like I am playing in a morgue. It doesn't help that the music in the game is not exactly the best. I am going to have to experiment with my iPod when I get home to see if playing my own music will mute the sounds of the players. Overall, after one day I am loving the game. It still isn't as good as Vol. 2, but it is damned close.
I like street, but it's achilles heel for me is the legal goal-tending. Instead of playing one on one defense, which should be a fun challenge, the best or at least one of the best strategies is picking a team with a big man standing under the hoop and blocking everything from a layup (fine) to a 3-pointer (lame.)
This oversimplifies the game and flattens the experience. Without that, I might love it.

I haven't played Street seriously since Vol. 2 (which I loved) so this bugged the hell out of me in the demo. There's just something kind of dull about spending most of your time on defense sizing up the best angle to goaltend, and also pulling off great moves and open shots only to have Shaq run back at 100 mph from the other side of the court and pull the ball out of the rim.

I don't miss Bobbito (DJ Cucumber Slice) at all. In fact, I probably would not have gotten the game at all if he were in it. I didn't mind him, but basically he really grated on my wife's nerves... She would always make comments like 'I hope your not getting that basketball game again!' only because she hated his annoying commentary. Being that he is gone is a great addition by subtraction in my opinion. I plan on spending most of Friday playing this and Crackdown... I'll have impressions then...
Picked this up tonight.. Made a baller and played about 30 minutes of homecourt mode. This shit is hot. MattsOnlyHope on xbox live if anyone wants to play some.

I don't know about this game yet. My teammates are freakin horrible. I've got a pg that is really fast but he can't dunk and all his layups hang in the air so freakin long they get blocked all the time. I've got a big guy that misses short jumpers and is slow as molasses and then my own character (who is not an NBA player - so much for wanting to use an NBA player and build them up and take them through the game - or create a replica. Ugh. Dumb) is a shooter and you can't take jumpers unless you are on a breakaway and because I'm early in the game his stats aren't good enough to hit a high percentage of pullups.
How come I can't choose to make a balanced player?
How come I can't choose what skills to improve?
This game doesn't let ME do anything regarding my character. I couldn't pick what he looks like, can't decide how to adjust his stats. Nothing.
On the demo I was able to hit 3s all the time. You just have to know when it's safe to shoot them. I can't wait to get my copy and see what 1080p on the 360 looks like.

the "main" mode you create a player and you can pick what he looks like by meshing a bunch of different players together. yr stats go up in the amount you use the skill. once you hit level 5 you pick yr "freak" skill and it will max out that skill at 100. once you unlock some courts you can pick up better players, though their defense AI is suspect at times. on offense they aren't too bad.

After giving it some more time I've realized the learing curve is just really high. It took me a long time to figure out how to play the game decently. I had no clue I was supposed to be holding down the trick buttons. Once you learn how to do that it sure flows better.
I wish I had the freedom to make my guys' hair a different colour etc... and to be able to pick what skills I want to increase at any given time. But now that I'm level 5 and have gotten that nice little gift (I wish you would have spoiler tagged that - it was a very cool surprise) the majority of my skills are getting to a point where my player is pretty balanced.
The last hour playing the game was freakin awesome. The first two were very painful.
If the game is ticking anyone off at the start just dig in and learn how to play it, it does get quite a bit better.

Yeah the game was cool until you move to a new area and all the players are NBA players and my teammates are still bums. I can't even pull a trick move off. And I've got freakin Lisa Leslie doing double dunks on me. I have maxed out blocks/rebounds and can't get a rebound on her and Brandon Roy and every time I try to do anything I either get pushed over and get the ball stolen.
I don't know if I should be playing on Hard mode.
I REALLY don't like that when there is a loose ball your computer AI teammates don't make an attempt to go get it.
My exact reaction. It seems like there's not much metagame in one player anymore. You used to be able to whittle your character into what you wanted, and now you have no control over that aside from Freak Skill. I don't see any way to "buy stuff" in this game as it all gets unlocked.
Also, why did they abandon all the customization that we were used to. It's the total opposite of individuality to force a morph between two faces instead of making your own guy. I couldn't even do my dream morph of Cassel and Bonzi to make the ultimate ugly player because they only had a handful of faces to choose from.

You do have some control over your stats as you pick what position to play. I think they did that to combat people going online with a 7'7" Center with 95 speed and 90 ball handling. That crap wasn't any fun. So you have somewhat of a max based on each position. Atleast that is what I am getting from it so far.
Isn't 1080p in this game supposed to drop the framerate to 30? That's about the only thing I can see there to base your decision on. Whther you prefer non-upscaled picture or a better framerate.
I really like NBA street... it is perfect pickup and play and has lots of depth in it...
Unfortunately I just popped in Crackdown this morning, and OH MY GOD.... I can't believe how much fun that game is... I'm going to be playing that for a long time...
