NDS Lite - 3 colors revealed

The MSRP for the DSL is $150? :-(

I'm guessing it will be. That's all. The SP was slightly more expensive than the GBA so I figure the DSL will be slightly more expensive than a DS.

Nintendo keeps saying they want to expand the market. One of the ways they can help to do that is by offering people hardware in a variety of colors that appeal to them. None of these colors appeal to me. If I'm going to spend $150 on something and it comes in a variety of colors I'm going to get the color I want and if that color isn't available well... I'm patient. I can wait.

This is Japan though, maybe their sales figures indicate that these are the most popular colours. Maybe black is the least popular one in Japan and they figured they could try another dark colour. This Enamel Navy is, in fact, darker than the graphite black DS..

My point is still valid though, listening to rumours and assuming they're real is dumb. I'm glad you made a profit on your DS though, but don't blame the rumours because you sold it.

has anybody held the damn thing? the DS is sized just right for my hand spread, so i'm hesistant to trade in if its gonna be uncomfortably small, like the micro.

Then.. don't? :P

The majority of people think otherwise though. (And yes, someone here has held it and posted impressions that were very good.)

White is my favorite; it'll likely be the most common color purchase. Matches my PSP and car, but not my iPod (which is black).

The Navy one is pretty good, too. Not really what I was expecting with the initial batch of colors, but the unique look of it is kind of eye-catching, and is a close second.

That ice blue one is very femme. No thanks, but it'll probably be popular with the female crowd. If they were trying to attract that demographic, they should've gone with pink or a Louie Vuitton print. :)

Anyway, looks good. Can't wait to give it a try with my own hands. I'll have to bug the early adopters at work next month.

so there is confirmation that the GBA cartridges will stick out?

Affirmitive, the Slot is only as wide as the bottom bit of a GBA Cart.

way to kill portable Double Dragon Nintendo.

in other news, aren't we a bit psychotic because we're so bothered by the cartridge sticking out a bit? i mean, i think it's stupid that it bothers some of us, yet, we still manage to be okay with the fact that it bothers us.

i dunno, i just find it odd, that the cartridge sticking out like that makes the slot pretty much useless for the most of us.

thoughts?

So are we all assuming that these are also the US release colors; or do you think there will be different (more?) colors for the US release? I'm liking that Navy, so I hope they bring that, although I wouldn't be opposed to pure black as well.

Holy crap black DS Lite=sex

I'm super curious: how does the cartridge sticking out make the slot "useless"?

Can somebody elaborate? Thanks!

(Disclaimer: been playing Drill Dozer with the cartridge sticking 1cm out of my Micro and it hasn't bothered me at any point. And I'm a pretty picky guy. Thus, the curiosity.)

Nooooooooo. Arghhhhh. :( Tell me this is just the "GBA cart sliding into the DS" shot, and not what it looks like when fully inserted. :( :( :(

Argh. I was expecting the DSL to remedy most of my issues with the current DS. Eh.. I'll still probably get the white one. Damn you Nintendo. :(

*edit: Goddamnit, I didn't realize this thread was 3 pages and my question had been answered.

I reiterate; DAMN YOU NINTENDO. :( I swear, every fucking handheld they make has to have at least ONE THING to piss me off.

Ill maybe wait a few months and see if a black version is eventually mentioned, and if not ill get the navy.

As for the GBA carts sticking out, cant say it bothers me. I put up with gameboy games sticking WAY out of a GBA and they stuck out at the top of the console and could catch onto things if you weren't careful. Having the GBA carts stick 1cm out and at the bottom should be fine. I can only imagine the style consious really hate this, as it is a pretty handheld, but they will get over it.

Someone should have sent Nintendo the memo that the only standard colours that should be released are White, Black, and Silver. Seems that Sony got the memo...

Bad: The GBA cart sticking out. Wario Ware Twisted will look horrible

That's a great example: Wario Ware already sticks out about 17 feet, so much that I set the cartridge in one room and play in another. So what difference is 1 extra centimeter going to make?

Seriously, why does the cart sticking out make any difference? Anybody? Please? Someone? *weeps*

actually the text there says

"When a Game Boy Advance cartridge is inserted (sticks out about 1 cm from console)"

SHATTERED DREAMS

Every Nintendo portable must have a flaw...well, except the backlit SP.

Still no headphone jack built in, right?

Nintendo, kings of the 'one feature away from perfect' handhelds!

You dont need the port, look at SP. But the port got in the way on the DS because it was too fat. This 1cm distance could fix that.

does that somehow translate into "black" on your computer screen? Christ, reading comprehension -1.

and I'll be getting a Navy one and keeping my red one as well. I like the rounded edges as now I can lay on my side in bed and play without the edges of the system digging into my hands.

I don't understand some guys here who mention that they won't buy a DSL. You know you will!!

Nope! But I will be buying a second DS when this thing forces its price to drop. :)

What's the big deal about the GBA cartridge sticking out? I played several GBcolor games on my SP that stuck out like a sore thumb and it never bothered me once.

...That navy color is really slick.

+1 DSL

What I'd like to know is where does the DS regular brightnes stand with the Lite? So there's four settings, but how many are brighter than the the original?

i dont want my GBA games / rumble packs sticking out, becuase when im putting it in or taking it out of my pocket it can catch on things, and wreck stuff, plus when you have such a slick lookin machine, it would look silly to have something like that sticking out.
