Need for Speed (2015, Full Reboot, PC/PS4/XB1, Ghost) Reveal Trailer

The "narrative experience" was great in the Underground games and Most Wanted (2005) in my opinion. More of that please.

I do hope it doesn't have it from Rivals nor Most Wanted 2012..they were pretty horrible.

But yeah this was cheesy and fun. That's ok but i do not want any influence every..single..time i am going to race that the screen halts me what i am doing like in Rivals. Like i said in the other thread.

They need to stop with the tutorials that interrupt gameplay i know how a car drives let me be.

I hope its good, but there is no way it is going to look like that on any platform.

I would like to hope that companies would stop claiming graphics will look like that in this day in age of it really didn't look like that.

Nah it will look like that on every platform.

In the CG cutscene that it is. Cutscenes take place "in game" after all ;)

It doesn't actually claim to be gameplay though, does it.

See, you get it.

I sure did.

I am people.

Lucky you. Open world killed Burnout. Maybe it'll kill NFS and there can be a REAL reboot by returning to racing on closed tracks. Ghost has to achieve those graphics (they won't) and I might be interested just for the eye candy.

Actually if we were being real the title of this game would be.

Need for Speed 24: Underground 3

(yes this is actually the 24th main series Need for Speed game.)

If you don't count the games that were only on handhelds then it is

I didn't subtract Nitro (which I should have) but we are not counting Shift?

Probably just come out of the car wash.

In all seriousness, you would think Car Washes would be shut down in CA at this point considering the drought.

NFS Underground 2 was great.

I'm guessing it doesn't feature a cockpit cam?

NFS Underground Rivals should be there for 2005

Holy crap what negativity. I understand being skeptical of the trailer but holy shit.

Also, I knew the anti-open world backlash was going to happen after reading the comments in the older thread. If you had any inkling that this game was going to have closed circuits, you only set yourself up for disappointment. Underground was always set at night and Underground 2 was open world, so...I mean you do the math. Open world is popular, and the series has a history of being open world.

Doesn't look that good tbh, it's just that it being night time and the camera moving and shaking around a lot helps to hide away all the low quality assets we are accustomed to

Here for example you can see the low res texture on the palm.

So the world will be stuck in an eternal nighttime? Not sounding too hot....
Did you just use a Youtube capture?
Tbh, while people loved Most Wanted it was actually the fall point of the series and the day time setting was what ruined it, amongst other things.
This is illegal Street Racing and that happens at night I'm sorry to say, rarely does it happen in the day ,everyone saying they didn't ask for this can go buy any other racer on the market because they wasn't listing to you, it's the millions of gamers that stopped buying NFS and got fed up with the series moving back and back to it's old style which didn't really make NFS a household name, NFS isn't known for Hot Pursuit, people didn't didn't go to midnight launches for Hot Pursuit, they did for Underground 2 and Most Wanted, NFS Underground 2 sold over 6 Million, yeah a NFS game the first Underground sold over 15 million, NFS doesn't do that now.
People wanted Need For Speed Underground back because it was the best in the series, it was different to other racers and better for it

No problems with open world for me. Underground 2 and Most Wanted (2005) were as well and they're the best in the series for me. Inject it into me.
.

Add in some underground love too ;)

In terms of police as long as its most wanted(2005) like I think it will be great.

exactly, NFSU2 and OG Most Wanted were by far the best in the series. Can't wait for them to return to it, and this game actually looks to bring back full on street racing with a story again.

I actually liked the cheesy stories of NFSU 2 and Most Wanted. Simple you started at the top, got bumped down due to bullshit and had to work your way back up for revenge.

Maybe this one will be more or less you are just some punk out of high school, dad owns a car shop and races on the side. Dads car gets sabotaged or car shop gets destroyed, dad hospitalized. You take to the streets for revenge/to find how who did it.

Just to re-assure anyone at Ghost, I've been begging for an open-world arcade racer at night forever.

Thank you.

AWESOME screenshots. What I like the most is they are not really bullshots, because you can see they aren't downsampled, AA is not top notch and there is a lot of postprocess work with bokeh and chromatic aberration over a really good PBR use. So good.

Seems to be a whoooole lot of it...

Why the hate for the open world?

Do you guys just not like seeing that open path?

People just have different preferences. I personally don't care for it and would prefer closed circuit or point to point races without the interference of commuter traffic and cops trying to smash my shit in every 2 seconds. That being said, expecting anything else from need for speed, considering who their publisher is and what market trends are is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

Disappointed that there will be cops. I guess it's going to be a permanent aspect at this point.

I hope its more like Underground 2 and nothing like Rivals, please.

Not buying the game footage. Seems like a pointless reveal if the footage doesn't live up to the gameplay reveal too.

Edit: should say I'm glad the games getting a reboot and they stick to the tuner aspect.

Seriously, why wouldn't the game look as good as the teaser?
It didn't show anything incredible, it was a constant blur with tons of filters.

What exactly was impressive about that teaser?
