As for me, I'm taking a break. Smash Bros. Brawl has been staring at me all day and I haven't gotten to play it yet.

A quick question: my jaw dropped after seeing how much the USPS would charge to ship a 3 pound package to Germany. Anyone have any better suggestions for cheap international shipping?

Maybe send it from work? Use their account and airway bills, just drop the package where the others are.
 
Has anybody ever tried authentic American liquor store candy before? Anybody wanna trade some gourmet European chocolates for some prestigious Now & Laters and Jolly Ranchers of assorted colors and flavors? :D

Dude! I had these chocolates given to me last Xmas. They were little bottles of spirits! I mean the chocolate shaped bottles were hollow and had real sweet tasting liquor in them? Stuff like Jack Daniels, Jose Cuervo, etc. They were very good, and they give you a buzz! :D

Already checked that- sky high prices, as well. Also, I have no workplace to ship from.

Eh, I'll figure something out.
 
International shipping is all based on size and weight, so what I did was go out and get a bunch of sweets that I thought my partner would like based on what they said, brought it home and put it all in a box, then I used a scale and cut back on the weight until it was about a kilo.

Also something like a Jaffa Cakes come in boxes, taking them outta the box but still in the sealed orange packaging allowed me to cut down some weight so that I could add something else.

I send stuff home to Maryland enough to know how to make a package at least the equivalent of the shipping cost so it takes some of the sting out, sometimes two smaller packages are cheaper to send then one big one. It's all subjective.

The only other thing I can think of is if your really desperate to cut down on shipping costs, rather then look at airmail prices look at surface mail prices, but then you get what you pay for. Airmail is supposed to take about 5 days, surface mail can take up to 2 months, make sure you partner is willing to wait that long.
 
It is really too late to participate? I can ship eastern canadian (mostly maple candies) and Haitian candies. Let me in!

I think me and my candy partner came to an unspoken agreement that the shipping of the candy outweighs the benefit. Anyway, now I'm so close to an xbox 360, I'd rather save the money.

It's a good point though... being that I can pretty much find what I want in NYC or online, anyways.... but I'm just doing it for the fun. It's still nice to recieve a package in the mail.

Definitely get that 360! Candy has nothing on that! What the heck... do you want my old games?

Save for the wii, I'm still last generation. (And yes, I have been to the gaming side. Such a statement would lead to 3 pages of ridicule for calling the wii next generation.)

Look at it this way, you'll get tons of games at discount prices now. And you won't deal with as high a risk of RROD.

But that's another thread. And I rarely go to the 'other' side, but for major info purposes, and screenshots.

I sent mine out earlier this week. My partner should be getting it next week, hopefully! I sent him a little over 8 pounds of goodies... I should've included a new toothbrush and some toothpaste.

Great idea with the video. I'm glad some of you have enjoyed this so far! Keep everyone updated, I'd like to see what everyone else gets!

When I get mine, I'll try to post a video as well. If not, I'll at least post plenty of pictures.
