Championship preview uber! Let's go!
Hmmm... where to start? Well, both the Crushers and Players are evenly matched on the projection side of things. But that shouldn't tell you much given how the Players have outplayed their projection by a total of 100.28 points over the past three weeks. So I would add at least 20 more to his total (even 30 would be below his recent average).
What the Crushers want to have happen is for Week 14 to not be the anomaly it appears on paper.
There will be no need to wait until Monday night to decide the championship outcome as everything will come to a head in the Sunday nighter courtesy of McCoy, Foles and DJax for the Eagles versus the league worst run defense in the Bears.
Logic would dictate a monster game is in the cards for Shady while both Foles and DJax could underperform. This is more likely for DJax as Foles has been about as consistent as they come since taking over for Vick as the Eagles starter. For instance, Foles hasn't failed to clear 20 points since Week 9... something fantasy darling and #1 QB for the week Peyton Manning has failed to do on 3 separate occasions during that span.
The Players will need to build a significant lead of about 35-40 points or so in the afternoon games in order to be in good position to take home the title. As the Saints largely had their way with the Panthers two weeks ago, this is going to largely depend on Charles, Lacy and Decker to carry the load.
Charles is a monster but unlike the Raiders, Indy will actually try to show up so a 50-point repeat is unlikely. Decker may be vanishing again with Welker not involved to draw attention (Peyton likes to go for the open man - that may be Caldwell again). And Lacy would have been in a much better position with Rodgers involved in the equation although the Packers will lean on him more with Aaron still out of the equation. In fact, all of these guys had better matchups last week.
As much as I like my teams to only lose to the best and I'm sort of rooting for GCQuinton given that he knows the sting of losing this league's title game once already (back in 2010), my logic center is telling me that the Psycho Crushers win this one. Really the only pitfall I can see potentially opening up is if MJD plays against the Titans and steals a bunch of touches away from Todman. But I don't think that's very likely. The RBs should carry the load and so long as the Broncos don't shit the bed against Houston (warm weather game for the first time in a while for Peyton) and the rest of the Crushers do what they normally do, that should be enough.
Incidentally, I have a Super Bowl prediction to make here as well. I'm taking
Kansas City to defeat Philadelphia.
That's right. Andy Reid's new team beats the team he could never bring a championship to in a cold, snowy game in New Jersey.
So... Charles loses the NQ5 fantasy title game to McCoy. Charles will then win the actual NFL title game against McCoy. Circle of life and all that.
