Wasn't 4chan planning on building their own IRL community somewhere? What if this turns into a thing. Online communities getting their own communities in the real world.

4chan World
Reddit Land

oh god.

4Chan Land would have to be in the some lawless place with no extradition.

We could also make the town into a burgeoning technotopia for the game industry. No taxes for game devs and publishers - you only need to release your titles in Wyoming a week before the rest of the world.

State taxes have more to do with that then whatever administrative power we'd have.

But then again, Wyoming is a pretty low tax place to live.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wyoming#Taxes

Unlike most other states, Wyoming does not levy an individual or corporate income tax. In addition, Wyoming does not assess any tax on retirement income earned and received from another state. Wyoming has a state sales tax of 4%. Counties have the option of collecting an additional 1% tax for general revenue and a 1% tax for specific purposes, if approved by voters. Food for human consumption is not subject to sales tax.[26] There also is a county lodging tax that varies from 2% to 5%. The state collects a use tax of 5% on items purchased elsewhere and brought into Wyoming. All property tax is based on the assessed value of the property and Wyoming's Department of Revenue's Ad Valorem Tax Division supports, trains, and guides local government agencies in the uniform assessment, valuation and taxation of locally assessed property. "Assessed value" means taxable value; "taxable value" means a percent of the fair market value of property in a particular class. Statutes limit property tax increases. For county revenue, the property tax rate cannot exceed 12 mills (or 1.2%) of assessed value. For cities and towns, the rate is limited to 8 mills (0.8%). With very few exceptions, state law limits the property tax rate for all governmental purposes.

Personal property held for personal use is tax-exempt. Inventory if held for resale, pollution control equipment, cash, accounts receivable, stocks and bonds are also exempt. Other exemptions include property used for religious, educational, charitable, fraternal, benevolent and government purposes and improvements for handicapped access. Minerals are exempt from property tax but companies must pay a gross products tax and a severance tax when produced. Underground mining equipment is tax exempt.

Wyoming does not collect inheritance taxes. Because of the phase-out of the federal estate tax credit, Wyoming's estate tax is not imposed on estates of persons who died in 2005. There is limited estate tax related to federal estate tax collection.

In 2008, the Tax Foundation ranked Wyoming as having the single most "business friendly" tax climate of all 50 states.[27] Wyoming state and local governments in fiscal year 2007 collected $2.242 billion in taxes, levies, and royalties from the oil and gas industry. The state's mineral industry, including oil, gas, trona, and coal provided $1.3 billion in property taxes from 2006 mineral production.[24]

Taxes: No personal or corporate income tax
Best Places to Live and Launch: Cheyenne (No. 84)

The Tax Foundation, a nonpartisan tax analysis organization, ranks Wyoming's tax structure as the No. 1 most business-friendly in the nation, thanks to the absence of income tax and low sales and excise taxes. With fewer than 1 million residents, Wyoming is the least-populated state in the country, although almost 3 million visitors drop by annually to enjoy tourist magnet Yellowstone National Park.

In addition to low property taxes, Wyoming boasts a low cost of living. Abundant natural resources - oil, natural gas, coal and the mineral trona - drive the state economy. From 2000 to 2006, coal mining employment increased by 36%. The state produces 38% of the nation's coal and virtually all trona, which is processed into soda ash and used to make glass, pharmaceuticals, and baking soda. In addition to the famed Yellowstone, Wyoming is home to Grand Teton National Park and many other state parks, monuments and campgrounds.

Wyoming's largest city, Cheyenne, is striving to diversify its economy, relying on a growing service industry to provide jobs in retail, hospitality, finance and health care. In July, the city hosts Cheyenne Frontier Days, a Western festival featuring the world's largest rodeo.

Cheyenne is only a 35 minute drive away, according to Google Maps

Bay Maximus, the person who's keeping track of all the people, said he's got stuff to do and will post later today.

This might actually happen...
Anyways, we need to start coming up with names. NeoBuford anyone?

I am genuinely curious at how bannings would take place.

Will we have some sort of jail, or box of shame?

Meet the Mayor

Don Sammons

Stop in and see me in Buford!
Meet Don Sammons. He’s the sole resident of Buford, Wyoming, population: 1.

Don moved to Buford, Wyoming from California in 1980 with his family – a wife and son, which increased the population of Buford to a town of population: 3.

Don’s wife passed away several years ago and his son grew up and moved on. This left Don once again as the sole resident of Buford.

Today, you will find Don behind the counter of the Trading Post. He’s a man with his own zip code, his own town, his own gas station and trading post.

Stop in and say “hi”.

I like New Gaf, sounds awesome!
But unfortunately for EuroGaf, the place is too far away.

And btw isn't 100,000 a bit much for 10 acres?

A mod personally notifies you of the banning at your place, then he escorts you to the walk of shame which consists of walking in circles around the gas station. Fellow gaffers pumping gas are encouraged to mock the leper.

Comes with a schoolhouse, a gas station, a convince store, a cabin, and a house.

EDIT:
I misunderstood...
I think the convince store is part of the gas station, and it also comes with a trading post.

I guarantee we would be raising the mean income, education level and diversity of the whole state if we went.

Who knows, there might be oil under that there land!

Edit: nevermind, it's nothing but a barren wasteland. We'd be better off with a walled off section of Detriot.

This must be where atheist/theist, tipping, liberal/conservative and world affairs GAF must have to hang out.

I could teach English at the rickety schoolhouse while secretly planning a coup for mayorship... so long as someone sponsors me.

A NeoGAF commune town would be quite interesting. If I thought this had a snowball's chance in hell, I would put in up to 50k.

We would need to drive out the other citizens.

Also, every thread on GAF would be:

"I have a city planning question"
"How to solve locust problem?"
"Vote for new mayor"

Whoa, this just got real

Just so you guys know, showers will be mandatory in GAF land. I don't want to live under a thick smog of manstink.
