Neon yellow joycon + battery pack extended announced

The battery pack is exactly what I've been wanting ergonomically. The battery is just an (unnecessary IMO) bonus really. They should maybe have called it "comfort grip" or something, but I guess the idea of extra battery is more marketable.

Why would they call it the comfort grip when the whole point is that it extends the battery life? Its not just more marketable, its more accurate.

Really don't like that tone of yellow. It's yucky. Enough with the neon kick Nintendo.

This is the acceptable yellow color.

This is ugly.

A bunch of people are missing the fact that these battery grips are only for the joycon standalone. It will not work connected to the Switch itself, will not extend the Switch's battery (unfortunately).

The battery grips connect to the joycon using the rails:

I wish they would provide battery for the Switch itself, but it does not appear that this is that product. :/

Also, I'm curious if ARMS uses a significant amount of battery power from the Joycon and that's why they're releasing it on the same day as ARMS. Also, I'm wondering if these provide a significantly better grip experience and therefore a better ARMS experience.

I'm intrigued.

Edit - also as for price, with these things costing 3,280 yen, I'm guessing it's gonna be $29.99 in the U.S. BUT, the look of the package *appears* to show it comes with 2 grips.

Also, I'm 100% in for the Yellow joycon.

Im pretty sure the joycons charge the switch when they are docked on it and its in portable mode. Seems like maybe this battery would give the joy cons more juice to charge the switch with?

The battery slides on the joycon, as you can see on the box. So, no.

I guess. I'll be buying it solely for the added comfort though. The batteries inside them will be more of an added weight thing than extra juice for me.

Will grab the battery packs for the comfort factor. Means I'll have to buy a new case though :'(

Will have to see the yellow neon in person to decide on that one tho. Loving the red already.

Just hurry up and give us a SNES or Gamecube layout/coloured version already!

Honestly I would've expected a battery pack for the Switch itself, like a case or something, not for the Joy Cons lol, don't they already pack a good amount of energy and last several hours? Also, I had no idea the dock was not being sold as a standalone product yet lol, that's hilarious.
That's what power banks are for.
It'd be nice to have one that acts as a case (like that crowdfunded one) so that you don't have a wire and the power back hanging.

Battery pack for joycons? Doesn't make sense, in any case it's the console what needs a battery pack.

New color looks cool.

This confirms ARMS drains the joycons really fast.
Or just needs a nice grip for extended play sessions.

And an official way that allows to charge them and keep playing the game in the same way (all other current charging modes require the Joy-cons to go stationary).

Replacing the batteries, even taking them out for charging if rechargeable, sounds like too much fuss to be worth it.

With two sets of joy-cons, I always have at least one pair fully charged.

I could be interested in those yellow cons though, but I want to see them in person first.

I think they feel proper comfy anyway in the position you play arms with them

don't really understand the battery pack thing, these things already last forever

yeah assuming, like other people, it's more of a grip that just happens to have added functionality. I wish it somehow connected while in handheld mode, like an inner rail of sorts. Could double as an extendable battery for the console itself.

Maybe, but the second point I think is very important as well.

No matter how many hours the Joy-Cons battery last, you may come into situations where they are running out; it is important, if only for a matter of system tidiness, to officially support a solution where you don't have to stop playing (in the same way) to charge them.

It's the Joy-Cons' "waggle & charge kit".
