Nerd Attack: Are Goku and Superman really that different?

Heck, World War Hulk was basically designed as character that could take on and beat the shit out of someone like Superman in this era...hence his fight with Marvel's equivalent the Sentry.

Superboy-Prime was as powerful as Silver-Age Superman, and Superman managed to take him down.

They just don't show his power so much now because no one knows how to write for it. :lol

I would do the best Elseworlds story ever, starring heel turn Superman. He would just go around fucking up everyone who stood in his way.

Like the story I made up awhile ago where he swallowed the ocean, then pissed it out in gotham city so he could flood the Batcave and drown Batman, then he would heat-vision the piss so that it boiled Batman just to be on the safe side.

I dunno about the rest of the DC universe, but he could probably just fly superfast through people's stomach's to kill them, if they were gonna try and hypnotize him or whatever.

Super Saiyan 3 Goku could shake the entire planet while he was just powering up, Freeza could destroy a planet with 2 fingers before transforming, Cell said he could blow up the entire galaxy with his kamehameha, Super Buu destroyed the wall between dimensions by yelling... and GT, if you want to count that.
 
Well, Superman doesn't need 10 episodes to talk about a move and another 15 to power up the the correct power level and another 5 just to finally use the damn thing. Though, some could argue that within those 40 Episodes only 10 Minutes actually passed in the Universe but still.

Kenshiro can break a skyscraper in half just by walking. Even if Goku or Superman could block one of his blows, no doubt Kenshiro would just hit one of the 708 pressure points on the hand or arm that they blocked with.

One is a cohesive if slightly redundant character who, despite what others may think, has a decent amount of depth.

The other is more of a symbol or ideal than a genuine character.

nah, shit like that doesnt work.

but Goku was only brought back once after being killed by Raditz by the Earth Dragon Balls, so technically he could still be brought back with the Namek Dragon Balls. Second time he died, he was brought back by someone else giving up their life for his.

Basically, it reconfirms that dying means jack shit in Dragon Ball.

Nah. Goku I still probably the strongest character in manga history. Alucard and co just have high dexterity, half of them aren't even that great fighting wise. I'd be strong too if I wasn't afraid of getting hurt badly.

There are much stronger than Goku. Even in Dragonball Z there was stronger characters.

I don't see all that many simliarities between Goku and Superman save for some general characteristics. But I'm not all that familiar with Superman.
