New Batman: Arkham Knight gameplay - "Officer Down"

Just downloaded the vid from Gamersyde. I stepped through it frame by frame just looking for anything interesting.

At the beginning of the fight, in the background there's a car that is flipping in the air for some reason. In earlier frames it looks like an explosion from a building might cause it - hard to tell.

Other than that, not much else that I could see. Except there was one sign, again, during the fight in the street, that said "Lex" on it. It said other stuff I couldn't make out, but my first thought is Luthor, of course.

Lord have mercy and this is on PS4? Looks amazing!

Probably PC, like all the others.

I hate the look of all 4 batman games. Art style I mean, and music is also i am not fan of. This one has the same problem IMO. And cheesy dialogues, please no. Gameplay looks solid like the previous games so definitely going to play it once.

Yikes, looks like a lot of fun. I only ever played Arkham Asylum and I guess I'll just skip City and Origins for now. The wait until June shouldn't be that bad with Bloodborne coming out tonight/tomorrow :)

I wish they'd let Rocksteady do something else.

They are, after this they're done with the Arkham series. They might work on something original, they might work on another DC IP, but their next game will not be Batman: Arkham Janitorial Staff or whatever.

WB is grooming WB Montreal to take over as "the Batman team", they did Origins and are now working on a Suicide Squad spinoff (teased in Origins).

Damn looks every bit as good as I hoped. Also really like that the streets have civilians on the streets not just thugs waiting for a beating.

Well... that sure is Arkham City with a Batmobile. I'm down for more of the same, though. I'm in the Roger Craig Smith camp for sure. I love Conroy, but he's been phoning it in for years now. And holy shit I hope they carry over the costume code from Arkham City, cuz yikes... that suit is the worst.

The graphics look absolutely amazing for PS4. The scale, lighting, everything...this is truly current gen stuff

Do we know any info on how upgrades work for this? With the more Iron man looking armor I'd hope we would have more interesting upgrade system. Hope that gadgets are integrated into the suit as moving pieces instead of just batman pulling them outta thin air like in the old games.

Man, all the camerawork in this game is incredibly smooth. The transitions from Batman, to the Batmobile chase, back to on foot gameplay is so fluid.

And "Press L1 to Even The Odds" is so ridiculous it's great.

I wonder if Rocksteady will work on a new IP or if they'll go to another WB IP. I don't know why but I feel like they might do an Inception game.

I would be extremely pleased with that outcome. Inception is ready-made for videogames. Subconscious defenses are the perfect excuse for hordes of faceless mooks to gun down with no story consequences. The dream-space is the perfect excuse for videogame design limitations, give us a reason for having highly varied and creative artwork in the levels (can go anywhere with no story reason for why it's some crazy foreign location) and provides you with some unique game mechanics to exploit, like variable dream geometry, crazy level design etc.

Rocksteady's games are fun and I'll play the hell out of this, but I'm beyond done with dark and gritty Batman. Doesn't really help that the stories are pretty bad, too.

I'm fine with Batman being dark and gritty, since that's probably the closest to the original vision for the character, but what I don't like is how self-serious the Arkham games are. It clashes with the cartoonish villains and dialogue. I have a similar problem with the Nolan films, but even they occasionally have humor at Batman's expense, whereas the Arkham games portray Batman as a God among men who can do no wrong.

I'd love to see a Batman game with the sarcastic, darkly comic Batman we see in Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, or in Burton's films.

All this attention to presentation/framing!

Also, dat L1.

I wish they'd let Rocksteady do something else. Aside from the Batmobile, this looks like it's just more Arkham City.

Yeah and the Batmobile still doesn't look any fun. Giant meh for me. I don't get why they can't do a real Gotham, not one that's somehow been taken completely over by criminals for the third time. The combat system doesn't have anywhere near the depth to keep me interested for the full game and with the criminals everywhere, you have to fight a lot.

Is it me or the Pop-ins issues/ LOD is much better than the E3 PC version? I remember when he drove the Batmobile in the E3 demo you couldn't see 4 ft forward without something popping in front of your eyes, now it's much better.

Jesus, this looks unbelievable. I wish I could be ready for this when it comes out, but no way I'll be able to play the first three Arkham games by then. Still, though, this looks impressive as hell.

Wow, really? For me these are the best visual interpretations of the Batman universe. I even rank them above the Keaton movies. The world just oozes atmosphere.

Finally watched the Gamersyde footage. Outside of the obvious aliasing, which has even been in PC footage, this looks damn great for a PS4 build. The motion blur and particle effects are wonderful.

Loved all of the camera transitions too. Smooth and effective.

They have good environmental design, but the shading and character art has always been a bit... idk.. unreal engine muscle faces?

Apparently the beyond 3D guys have this pegged at full 1080p as well.

Full 1080p with these graphics on PS4...open world games have no excuse outside of cross gen woes

The best thing about the Arkham series is that it pulls from all interpretations of Batman, movie, shows, and comics. Really feels like an amalgamation of all different perspectives of Batman and the Batman universe.

Ah man just finished watching the 1gb footage from Gamersyde, transition to on foot to rappel to gliding to back to free flow combat is just incredibly smooth. Getting in and out of Batmobile is so cinematic and seamless. Can't believe we are going to play through the final chapter in the Arkham Trilogy in three months.

Gameplay looks good, but i gotta say im a tad bit dissapointed. From what this trailer showed, it looks very similar to Arkham City. Not a fan of the fear takedown either, it makes it look easy.

Also the FOV seemed really zoomed in when Batman is walking around. I really dislike zoomed in, granted this is on PS4 so who know what the PC version will be like. Here's hoping that its a bit better, you cant even see his legs when walking...

You were never able to see his legs when walking slowly. It zooms out when you start running/fighting. Has been the same throughout all 3 games.

Looks good but I am not feeling it, granted I haven't been feeling it since playing Arkham Origin.

I will probably pick it up when GOTY version get released or when it gets remastered for the PS5. Hur hur hur.

Yes that caused an explosion, of which I will refrain from elaborating. Very nice looking.

Tho the slow intimidating walks from a mile away were a little odd. Someone was really trying to amp up the flair.

I still can't get over Jonathan Banks as Jim Gordon. I was kinda meh towards Arkham Knight, but this trailer hooked me. The little details were spot on, and the graphics were amazing.

I'm hyped.
