New Batman: Arkham Knight gameplay - "Officer Down"

You got yourself a stiff cape there, Batman.

I assume that's a bug.

haha, so was I.. but at that point.. it was the best!
:P

I mean of course I am still getting this game, but I just can't shake the feeling of been there done that - so it's kinda hard for me to get super excited about this.

I guess I just prefer the more Metroidvania style of Asylum. I felt like the open world gameplay didn't really add much to the series and if anything it detracted from the tightly focused and well designed interior sections.

I'm with you. Did not enjoy City in the slightest.

Will still purchase the game, but I guess I should be thankful to have my expectations in check. Could be a possible pleasant surprise!

That's some seriously stilted voice acting from everyone.

And I'm certain they haven't shown anything from outside of the first two hours of the game. Not a glimpse.
Bruce is going to die, and it's going to be early in the game, I can feel it.

Pretty sure it's early as well. Both Oracle and Batmobile show an unlock taking place which usually only happens the first time you come in contact with them.

I've said it before but I'll say it again, Roger Craig Smith killed it in Origins and did a much fresher, and less robotic performance as Batman than Kevin has done for any of the games. Kevin just sounds bored and never shows any real emotion in any of the Arkham games.

I gotta say as well, the character design for Batman is kinda rough. His face looks awful! But the suit itself isn't bad at all. Rocksteady have never had great looking designs imo. Origins had the best look I think.

I'm just not seeing anything that exciting about this to be honest, it just looks exactly like Arkham City with a bat mobile.

I'm kinda shocked at how little this game has changed since AC actually.

*shrug

We'll get a couple new gadget, at least. I hope there are a few big 'levels' that are separate from the city. Those parts in AC were pretty short.

If it's like AC with a bat mobile, then that's all I need. AC is literally the only open world game, other than RDR, where I ever bothered to beat every single side mission. More of that in an incrementally improved version sounds perfect to me.

Not sure why exciting needs to be conflated with "new" here. It's a sequel.

Yeah, I love Asylum... Arkham City less so.

Although I was probably a bit overhyped for that game: http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=447510&page=1

Ah. No wonder you are not excited :D

The cowl in Origins looks so much better

This game looks freaking sweet though and I'm happy we finally get to see some PS4 footage. Can't wait till it comes out.

Origins definitely had the best looking Batman, for sure. I don't mind the mechalook here, but his face just looks off with that cowl.

Looks amazing. I can tell that gameplay and design wise it's gonna be great. A little concerned about the story though. I liked the story for all three games though, so I obviously have a higher tolerance than some.
Superior cowl AND superior Batman voice

Origins team can't take the reigns of this franchise fast enough.
Hopefully they don't fuck with the gameplay next time.

I need this. The hopping in and out of the batmobile looks so awesome. The Arkham games really do a great job at making you feel like a badass.

I don't usually like open world gameplay but in this case i felt the open city was a perfect match for this game, gliding and zipping from building to building? Batman is born for this.

Imo City is so much better than Asylum it's not even comparable.

While I agree that the cowl looks a bit off in that footage I HATED everything about Origins art direction. I think Rocksteady created a really unique comic book look with their previous games and then Origins came and made everything boring and "realistic." Screw realism, I'm Batman. I like the overly bulky designs of all the characters and enjoyed the classic underwear over tights design. That said, I'm enjoying this armored Batman look for AK and despite some other changes RS seems to be keeping their same sort of goth comic book style.

Im there with you, loved walking around the City, beat some dudes up and solve riddles. Asylum still has the greatest moment of all Batman games tho :P

Glad to see all the Origins love in here, what a great game. I hope the Riddler stuff is cut down a bit. I mean it's optional, but it's part of the game and I always want to finish it, but it's so overwhelming.

Damn, that was state-of-art arkham series gameplay. Game looks great to and the batmobile looks fun to use.

I hope the writing/story are more akin to Origins than Asylum or City. They felt superior overall, and I am a fan of seeing the oracle on the holographic display rather than just hearing her through some disembodied mic in Batman's ear.

See, my problem with Rocksteady's design is that I don't think the comic book look translates to the realistic rendering they go for. It looks really strange, with some pretty good exceptions.

I disagree I'm always awed at their character designs and the recent ones they've shown off for the villains so far look amazing, especially Scarecrow.

I agree. I've always liked Rocksteady's exaggerated designs. They pack in so much detail. I like that they always put in a model viewer into the games as well.

Everyone saying dowgrade has to realize that all the other footage is from the PC version, which has exclusive nvidia effects

Batman: Arkham Knight will support Turbulence, Environmental PhysX, Volumetric Lights, FaceWorks and Rain Effects

I've never been interested in playing any of the Batman games, this one included, but visually this game is definitely my first "Wow" moment from this generation of consoles. It looks stunning.

Yikes, I forgot how camp the Arkham games were. Origin had much more appealing subtlety and voice acting, for me. However, Arkham Knight definitely has way more consistent art styling than the previous Rocksteady titles, so it resembles Origins there.

The game looks gorgeous and I am pleased they released PS4 footage, nonetheless.

This looks exciting if you liked City I suppose. But I think by now I've realized that the style of Batman game I enjoy is much closer to Asylum than City (Asylum style but with the addition of a more fleshed out version of Origin's detective mode mechanic would be amazing). I never found the addition of open world traversal contributed much to the core of what I enjoy in these games (it actually maybe detracts). I'm also not sure how positive I feel about the Batmobile stuff. It looks nice but driving isn't really what I come for in a Batman game.

I can't stop watching that Gamersyde trailer, game is looking so good, visuals are freaking gorgeous, I'm really afraid we gonna get another downgrade like many other games this gen, what is the chance for that? if the final PS4 visuals will be as good as this trailer I will be very happy.

Origins art direction is so much better with regards to character models.

Gordon's VA sounds terribly bored, and Conroy sounds old.

See I didn't really like the Origins design, nor do I like the new armored Batman in AK. First thing I am going to be doing is switching to the New 52 outfit the first chance I get.

It's not just the suit. It's the body proportion, cowl, and face (damn is he fugly) that looks off in Rocksteady's Bats.
