Practice technical maneuvers on the open, fast-paced freeways of Canada, check your reflexes on the unpredictable UK roadways, or sharpen your high-speed steering skills on the mountain and dust-filled roads in India.
create your own to team up with 12 drivers and get more in-game currency and earn bonuses.
Unite together and represent your Club with customized team colors and logos for your cars.
Then create custom challenges to take on your friends and rival Clubs for fun, or up the ante by wagering on the outcome
Don't think UK was ever discussed in any thread. Does the term "roadways" mean anything specific in the UK? Could it be a city track?
I believe Scotland has been confirmed which I'm really excited to see more of.
I don't get why Forza fans are coming in here and trying to shit on the game.
It looks like a next-gen Horizon, which was awesome. Be happy!
Ah ok, a bit confusing but I'm glad that game isn't jumping onto a fad like that. The game is called DRIVECLUB - the # is selectively used for marketing.
Both sides seem to be quite avid on bringing up forza.I don't get why Forza fans are coming in here and trying to shit on the game.

No game can ever be as good as Forza, ever. No matter the system, no matter if sim or arcade, forza fans MUST make it known that NO GAME will ever be as good as Forza in any aspect. It's the best sim, nay, racing game- on PC or console- ever made by man.
No one is allowed to like/enjoy multiple racing games, even on the same system.
All is FORZA and FORZA is all.
Edit- love racing games. The more the merrier. The genre isn't huge on console, so more options, the better.
I hope with their wager system in place, we can set things like best of 3 or something lol. I usually do awful on my first lap![]()
Just to make it clear : I've already preoredered Driveclub, and I'm waiting for a list of supported wheels to buy one.
I've never played any racing games on the wheels before, I think I'm going to be all over that this generation. Makes games like GT and Forza much less of a slog for me. Did the Motorstorm games have wheel support? If so, what was that like? Is it weird to control a car in chase cam with wheel support? I imagine it would be, I personally can't stand that mode as is so I won't be doing so, but what is the general consensus on that?
I'm pretty bad with fine movements on a stick but I do drive a car (and I enjoy driving) so I'd like to try a "natural" control system... manual clutch and all.
You know, for a track around an observatory there's a distinct lack of stars.
Never drived an AT car, my "small" Astra sports 180HP and most of the fun is stepping up/down at the hairpins.Gotta be manual! Only way to drive a sports car, anything else is a crime![]()
Towards the end you can start to see them. If they done it right the sky should explode with stars later in (however it also depends if there's a full moon or not)You know, for a track around an observatory there's a distinct lack of stars.
Nope
From the Feb reveal video:
![]()
Track sections:
A: 2.3 mile
B: 8.4 mile - Height Change: 557M, Average Width: 11.9M, Maximum Width: 17.4M, Minimum Width: 7.9M
C:
D:
I seriously hope the C and D sections are 30-50 miles long.
Are the As the circuits? 2.3 mile is poor for a point to point track.
I don't mean to be petty but I'm pretty sure I've never played a game with point to point races that didn't stretch for miles. This is half out of curiosity and half out of surprise at the OMG gifs in response. Makes me think I'm missing something. We've got point to point tracks that stretch for miles.
Haha, can't say I mind the thought of it thoughNo one says you can't have those expectations but they are frankly insane. 50 mile track......come one man.
I take back what I said about the flags. That's sounds pretty nifty.Flags are nice touch. Green for slight turn, Yellow for medium and Red for heavy.
Dude are you serious? You've been doing this for quite some time in racing game threads. No one says you can't have those expectations but they are frankly insane. 50 mile track......come one man.
Art assets on PS2 took slighty less time to make. I say slightly jokingly, something that took hours to make before, now takes weeks.Deadly serious, Evo were doing 10 mile tracks on PS2 10 years ago, if DriveClub is the same then that is shit. With these cars and the tracks being all tarmac they'll take 3-4 minutes to complete.
PS2 racers had a 37 mile tracks:

No reason for Driveclub not to have 50 milers carving through these open environments.
Rushy please!

50 mile tracks is not a reasonable goal at this time unless this games budget was close to 500 mil.
HAHAHAHAHA

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit2010's final battle was a 35mile long race, that stretched across icy mountains, caves, desert landscapes, highways etc. It was an epic finale fyi.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4TbiMJSxHk
Man, Sony fans are like cheerleaders... one start saying bullshit and the troop quickly follow repeating those bullshits to make GAF believe. Sad thing is that GAF believe. lol.
Hopefully this is how that Audi will sound in the final version >

Finally downloaded the vid and watched it on my TV. Lighting and use of color is amazing, but holy crap the at the jaggies. Hope they fix this and the frame rate. The sense of speed seems weak as well, but that may change once the controller is in hand, I guess.

Fanatec pleaseWe will try to support whatever wheels we can providing they're compatible with the PS4.

First Test Drive Unlimited has a final race around the whole island, much more than 50 kilometres IIRC
It was almost an hour of drive if not even more.

That's not an accurate sound though because all the engine bays and covers are off and the sounds are extenuated far more than they are in real life.
The sound of the car in this video they released is heavily underrated. Evolution have done an amazing job replicating the sound of the real thing. Thy just need to up the degree of bass a bit, and aggression of throttle tapping or downshifting. Though in the videos I'm guessing it's all on automatic gears as is par for the course with arcade racers.

Watched the video on my plasma earlier with my surround sound set up. Sounded amazing.
Wow, what a fucking shit stirrer.
Gonna call you out again, who exactly claimed this?
True! Even the sound from their reveal trailer was awesome!

Yeap. I wouldn't be surprised if Evolution manage some of the most accurate sounding vehicles in a racer to date. Polyphony just has odd sound balancing and produce sounds that are overly thin sounding, Turn 10 lately has been hollywoodising their sounds more and more (mixing in with human screams, lion roars etc) and other arcade racers also exaggerate things to great effect. DriveClub seems to have nearly nailed it.
Like I said, just add in a bit more bass and shift grumble and you're done. That R8 V10 is surprisingly accurate sounding.

Hello all! This is my first post on Gaf and I'm excited to contribute to this passionate gaming community!
I've been wanting to start this discussion for a long time. It would be great if someone can create a new thread where we talk just about features and leave aliasing issues and Forza comparisons out of it. Seeing the progress made so far, I have complete trust in Evo.
Here is something I noticed on their 'product sheet':
http://www.gamestop.com/ps4/games/driveclub/109960
Some interesting quotes that I haven't seen any discussions on:
Does this refer to just Scotland, or is England a possibility? Does the term "roadways" mean anything specific in the UK? Could it be a city track?
How does in-game currency work in a club? Could this be similar to actual sports clubs? I'm guessing each player's winnings would contribute in some way to the club's funds. How are the funds used by the club? Does the club purchase cars for the team, and hence the whole team progresses together? Does the club "leader" decide what is the best car to get for the team? If that were the case, this could become one heck of a "social" racer. I'm really excited by the possibilities!
They go on to mention that they support iOS and Android apps. They had also said many times that we can create our own logos and livery. Would we be allowed to create logos and liveries on a tablet? A lot of awesome designs could come out of it!
This could make it so competitive and fun. Again, do individuals wager on the outcome, or the club as a whole? What exactly is wagered? In-game currency? Or can clubs battle for pink slips and other items created in-game, like liveries?
Let me know your thoughts!
What??? LOL! That's the first time I'm hearing that!
First, welcome. Second, you actually [maybe inadvertently] brought up an important point. I would love to talk about DriveClub the game and not the graphics, but we don't really KNOW anything substantial about the game! We have bullet points, and that's it! I wish we knew some in-depth details about how the game really works and its features.
