New Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core screens, how can PSP handle this?

Its too bad SE had to make one of the best looking games on PSP a prequel to one of the worst games in their library.
Words can't describe how much I disagree with this. But I'll try:

I really disagree with this.

Edit: Scratch that, I would think this WAS a PS2 game by the 2nd and 3rd screen!
Dou you know how powerful the PSP is? Actually it is as strong as a PS2

Not in sales. Or games. Or application. Or anything else for that matter. :lol

Agreed.

I bet it's very very short.

No matter how short it is, the battery will die first. :lol

The characters are superb, the environments not so much. As someone said above, the PSP had already done better than that. Look at Jak or R&C environments.
Daxter and Ratchet PSP have really bland environments as well, its the main thing that separates the PSP from the PS2 graphically, other than image quality which is absolutely horrible for 99% of the PSP's library.

Hmmm...in a year's span of the game's release and FFIII for the DS. Which game do you guys think would/will sell more?

That really doesnt look beyond psp reach i would say.

Oh and also, if this is a worthy game for the FF7 franchise and has some great rpg gameplay and story about the FF7 world, ill buy a psp. Although i would rather wait for the psp redesign.

Wowsome. PSP ****ing rocks. The PSP-based RPGs suck right now. Sorry, but old PS1 ports aren't cutting it. I want some RPGs built from the ground up for the platform, and it seems this Fall is when the floodgated finally open. This game looks awesome. Hopefully it plays awesome too. I'm dying for a good PSP RPG. My best RPGs right now are SNES ones. :( PEACE.

Truly a pleasure to have you here at GAF. Enjoy your stay.

Absolutely horrible? You said that - image quality is pretty much on par with Wii: the main problems are patterned transparency dithering and lack of AA. But they don't disturb me that much on such a small screen.

the correct question is, how could people think, that it won't give PSP better graphics?
The better question is why people think that games that have been developed for years FOR 222mhz will magically look better because Sony allowed 333 2 months before release.
Especially since most of the games that people are now accusing of 333mhz are not going to be shipping on 3.5 FW.

Faster CPU allows for faster GPU work, and to calculate more at the same time. How does that not going to make graphics better?
Just to clarify, the clock is increased for GPU(and related subsystems) as well. I'd say majority of performance benefit will come from the bus-speed first, CPU second, GPU last.

I liked the character designs in that Final Fantasy cell phone game better myself...What was it called...I can't freaking remember. They wore suit and had pistols.

there is no way to tell if the enviroments will be bland or not, these are just IMAGES, photographs, screens of the game.

The only thing we can use them for is to get an idea of the textures, art and character design and general visual concept, we can't measure the proportion of enviroments here. Having that as the basis of opinion, the screens show top notch quality and high production values. Haters have NOTHING to do in this thread.

there is plenty of reason to get hyped with these pics.

That images are anti-aliased and rendered at 32-bit color: two things PSP can't (barely) do.
I agree that those are most likely bullshots, but they're (a) downscaled (giving a degree of supersampling) and (b) PSP can actually do AA, look at Gripshift.

Looks just amazing..even more considering is a "handheld".. :)

Yet..

The more pics are released..
The more "Dirge of Cerberus-vibe" I get...

Wouldn't Yuffie be like 12 in this game? I'm not sure how many years it is before FFVII.

to me it seems like it could (or at least should) be 1 year or even less than a year...

Christ it's getting to the point where anything with Final Fantasy VII in the title signals some type of silent alarm for trolls. It never fails.

Anyways, this game looks incredible, easily eclipsing some of the PS2s top games. This + the redesign + a ton of other titles = PSP get!

Seven years before FFVII, making her 9 years old I believe.
It's gotta be 2 years at most. This is around the same stuff as in Last Order, and that took place a year before VII.

I have no interest in portable gaming....
Then stay the **** away from this thread or any portable game threads. You want this game? Then buy a PSP. Don't want to get it? Boo hoo then you can't get to play this game.

But this game might be reason enough to get one.
You're a sad man if you're buying a console/handheld for just one game.

I was so excited for this until i read about the random battles... I know most RPG fans here don't mind them but they totally put me off games. It's a dated system that should have been gone forever (in 3D games) 8 years ago.

It looks like everything else is awesome but the damn random battles will ruin it for me...

The game covers the Wutai War, and the Nibelheim incident (which is 5 years before FF7).
Afterward, Cloud and Zack were kidnapped and experimented on for 5 years, before their escape and Zack's subsequent death.

Yeah, nevermind that makes sense.

then perhaps Yuffie was lying about her age? if it truly is Yuffie

Yuffie doesn't look 9? How is a 9 yr old little girl supposed to look like and why are there so many experfts on this?
