New Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core screens, how can PSP handle this?

Yuffie doesn't look 9? How is a 9 yr old little girl supposed to look like and why are there so many experfts on this?

Yuffie looks like she's 12 in FFVII. she's the last person you'd expect to not look extremely young from that game. she's practically loli as it is.

How is Crisis Core possible? VOODOO MAGIC!!! Before you start the game you have to wave a dead chicken over your PSP.

Game after game this past year have out done each other by leaps and bounds. If CC and GoW are 222MHz then a game made for 333MHz will be truly insane. It's like the PSP has no ceiling for graphics.

In an interview RAD did for Daxter they said that the PSP is meant to run at 333MHz, so all the other components were built to run with a 333MHz CPU so when Sony underclocked the CPU to run at 222MHz it screwed up everything else. They basically said the PSP running at 222MHz is only half of it's total potential.
I don't have the interview handy so if you want a link you look for it yourself or cram it with walnuts.

wasn't she 16? That would make her... 13, 14 in Crisis Core?

Seems about right.

Chris Hanson awaits some of you!

You're a sad man if you're buying a console/handheld for just one game.

Why is that? I'm a huge fan of FF7, and buying a used console then reselling it at a MAX $10 loss doesnt seem make me a sad man, or does it?

No matter how short it is, the battery will die first. :lol

:lol you are about 2 years too late for PSP battery jokes

So? It's releasing this year sept and the hardware is similar to PS2 which takes some time to develop
Yeah I know. It's just that pretty much everything else I was anticipating when I bought my PSP has already come out... except for Gran Turismo 4 Mobile which never really existed.

Remember when it was an awesome twist that 'random blue Shinra soldier guy' turned out to be Cloud? Why is Squeenix messing with this...put me in the Leave FF7 Alone camp.

Say what? This game is almost entirely about technical direction, oh wait... I think I get it now.
Huh? This game, like all high-budget Square titles, seems to be very competent both technically and artistically.

Hope the game looks like that, have seen too many PSP games look great in screenshots but the final game is covered in aliasing and texture shimmering

sure hope so... but had seen a lot of Burnout Legends in motion too and then the final graphics were a mess (regarding aliasing and look of textures)

You're comparing Square-Enix to EA? :lol

I don't think so.
just play DC games again. 99% of psp games were low budget , now with this , and god of war and others upcomng games, there is no doubt in my mind too that psp>dc

Backgrounds are too empty, angular and flat, seems like they put most effort into making great-looking character models instead. It still looks great but I hope the backgrounds have a little more stuff going on. Otherwise I fear another MGS: Portable Ops (backgrounds looked mediocre at best, while the character models were good).

no with 333mhz unlocked we can have lots of battery jokes again.

but I can understand his problem. he probably hadnt found the mem stick slot yet, and so isnt able to save his games.

Holy crap and to think SE were able to do this with before the 333Mhz unlock. :O

Could we expect an.... improvement!?!

They probably built this game for 333mhz from the start...

NO ****ING WAY! This looks better than FF X and maybe even XII! PSP is a monster!

We finally get to see what developers can do with the psp unlocked at 333mhz.

For the normal PSP, yes. For the PSP redesign, no.

I cannot wait for the redesign. I think in Japan there will be a special edition psp redesign with FF:CC which will sell tons of units and copies.

Well that logic sucks because they've been showing an upsurge of in-game FF:CC footage since near the end of last year.

Just come back from a weeks holiday in Greece, really started to love my PSP again. Playing Tekken against my GF....good times :)

Can't wait for the next holiday, hope this one is out by then!

To be honest, I was joking earlier. I think the game looks great. I'd actually be willing to play it, too. Although, I still think the PSP is a load of shit with tons of room for improvement.

On that note:

You ask for one simple thing and you get spinoffs in every ****ing direction. Good luck.

Characters look super but i think the enviroments will be pretty standard. That much polygons put in characters definately takes some away from elsewhere. And the faces are not gonna look like that outside cut-scenes.

Slickiest psp game for sure.

PSP devkits never ran above 222mhz until around a year AFTER the PSP launch (early 2006), when clock was unlocked for debugging purposes, and Sony never gave any indication of planning to unlock it for use in titles, until now.
It's a pretty safe bet a game that started development in 2004 was not developed for 333.

you never know what sony gave sq back in 2004... considering how long this game has been in development... I would assume they got access to the full 333

is it me or is this title very much on par with wii games? anyone else ditching there old psp.. copping the new one and this game?

I see no reason ditching my old PSP. Will run the game with less load times and probably longer battery life (being able to play game from mem stick, which probably wont be possible on the new ones - at least for some time)

Wasn't this playable at TGS or some other event? If they developed it for 333 MHz then it would've run horribly on those demo stations. Anyway I don't see what the fuss is over the graphics, the character models are great but the environments are nowhere near the caliber of even FFX or any other above-average looking PS2 game. We've seen this before on the PSP with Daxter, Ratchet, MGS etc.

Those enviroments look good enough to me. What's wrong with them? Actually FFX has lower eesolution textures on enviroments, but also has much better models.
