The new character models look nice but the face animations seem lazy

Let's hope it gets better...that looks quite a bit worse than the original. The eyes, the facial animation, the lighting.

They did mention that faces are still being worked on during the Square Enix Presents livestream.

I hope so. The current faces literally have no emotion.

Day 1 vita for me.

I have it on PS2 but I messed up leveling up my characters and is trapped on a later boss. I told my friend that I made Tidus able to heal people (in other words I worked his grid around healing) and he told me I did it all wrong. So this'll be a good way to start over and actually level the people up right.

Just for comparison, here are some snaps from PCSX2 at 1080p and relatively cruddy settings.

Whoa...never noticed the swirls in Rikku's eye's before.

I'm not too into the new Tidus "redesign." I feel as if the original PS2 model suits him better as it elicited an impression of the main character coming across as naive. The old design enhanced the dichotomy between his early, rather immature self and his later, more responsible self.

Whatever the case, I'm planning on picking this up simply to drive a FFXII remaster.

PS2 Yuna looks way better than Remaked Yuna. The bottom one looks very generic where the PS2 one looks much more distinct.

I hope very much that her looks will remain close to the PS2 version. I still can't wait to replay it though...

I hope my reaction to this "remake" won't be the same when I played Lunar: SSS on PSP. I started singing the PSOne song but got buried by the PSP's new lyrics. Very confusing moment.

Yeah, glad I'm not the only one who thinks new Yuna's face looks dead. She had way more personality and distinctive emotions in the PS2 version, at least in that one scene posted. Hopefully that isn't like that in the whole game, that will be distracting. O_o

In the second version, she looks like a generic pretty doll, in the first one she looks more like a human.

Looks good and lets be honest here....

FFX was the last great FF

There are people that would lynch you here for saying that title doesn't belong to FFXII. There was a thread recently PACKED with FFX haters who just want a FFXII remaster. Boggled my mind. I didn't even know very many FFX haters existed.

Never played X, but I'm optimistic that it's entertaining. Seems kinda lame, but I need me some FF back in my life.
I think it's a great JRPG, you should definitely give it a try. What other FF's have you played and liked?

It is (I think) the last FF game made before that awful Spirits Within movie almost tanked Square forcing them to merge with Enix. It harkens back to the old Square, back when they could do no wrong and were on top of the world and at the height of their success and ambition.

It has its corny moments, but compared to all the HD JRPGs this gen (except maybe Lost Odyssey), its story is miles ahead. The characters are memorable, and the world is still one of the most imaginative I've played in any game.

If you're not completely jaded and cynical on FF, JRPGs, or games, there's a good chance you'll find the story engaging.

meh beside character models ..everything else looks like it needs more than just an HD reskin

disappointing ..and it took them this long to release this when it was announced in like what 2011?

Whoa...never noticed the swirls in Rikku's eye's before.

Defining trait of the Al Bhed, that.

All the Alied have eyes like that. Well Yuna doesn't but she's only half Abied if I'm remembering my Final Fantasy 10 right.

You are right...I think.

He is. Sort of.

Yuna is mixed and she has heterochromia. She has one blue eye and one Al Bhed eye - green with swirls, like Riku's.

Yeah, I would like to play X again. I never got around to playing X-2, though. Seeing Yuna in the pop star concert kind of killed any interest I had in playing it. But I would probably dig it outside of all that, so I am looking forward to finally giving it a try.

So cannot wait to replay this.

Defintely agree with the general opinion, they need to get in there and touch up or add more facial animation on the new Yuna in that comparison gif.

Finish this shit and then get on FFXII International Zodiac HD for fucks sake!

Would be really cool. I've been interested ever since hearing about the improvements they made.

.........

what?

Damn, I must have read the last worst FF.

Silly Ultros is silly.

But yeah, FFX is my favorite but I still enjoyed XII and XIII. Dirge of Cerberus was a pile of crud.

I cannot even imagine what Square could do with a true FFVI remake on next-gen consoles. 1080p assets with 3D Magitek walkers.

Even General Leo would shed a tear.

never played much of any final fantasy, but i've always wanted to beat X. if this found it's way on ps4's store, i would probably buy.

Are you being sarcastic? How does extra content make the game less appealing?

I suppose it's because I had already played vanilla FFX a bunch of times before I got the International version... all of the additional stuff felt out of place to me. Didn't care for the new sphere grid, didn't appreciate the pallet swapped evil summon battles. After I finished that version I never wanted to touch it again.

don't listen to the whiners that were mad that FFX wasn't made up of a cast of existential muppets. FFX is a wonderful Final Fantasy. It's an emotional, tragic journey that is really well designed.
It unfortunately started the trend of 'no more worldmap/controllable airships', but it has so much more that makes it easy to get beyond that.

Unless you are in that bizarre pocket of the fanbase that feels FFIX is the pinnacle and things can never get better, you should have a great time with it- even 12 years later.

I always liked X. Yeah, it started some shitty trends, but man was it ever captivating when it came out. The story isn't bad either, and the ending is pretty fantastic.
Too bad X-2 ruins all that.

I really enjoyed all of the post game stuff...except for that stupid chocobo race. Even dodging 200 lightning bolts was better than that.

I'm an old school RPGer, with my favorites being Chrono Trigger, FFIX, FFVI, and FFIV. FFX never really appealed to me because I didn't care for the art direction and FFX-2 seemed to cheapen the lore of the original as someone from the outside looking in. I do plan on picking this up and I do hope it's good.

Rikku looks adorable in that screen. And i also didn't knew about the swirls in Al bhed eyes...and i thought i knew everything about this game. -_-

Oh man. The Yuna comparison posted above is terrible but the way they're rendering eyes in the remaster is making Rikku look freaky and more dead than Yuna.

Fix this shit SE.

With the cleaned up visuals, Zanarkand looks no more than half a mile in length and it's scope appears reduced. The asset quality really degrades. Still, I have a soft spot in my heart for this game. Already pre-ordered.

Stop trollign these FFXHD threads dammit, lol. I just want a release date and if it will get a physical release, not just digital...

There is a scene where Auron says to rikku, show me your eyes.
Then the camera shows a close up of rikku s face and you could see the swirls.

I've played FFX three times and i've never noticed this!Or i had noticed it but somehow i completely forgot about it. :o
