I am planning on giving this movie an honest chance, I adore Ghostbusters. But giving the new characters the same personalities just makes it so much easier to compare it to the original movies and thus harder for OG fans to give this movie a fair shake.

Then again, this will make boatloads of money regardless, so why should the studio even give a flying fuck.

I know for a fact from the script leak this is not the case at all. No need to make up bullshit.

I'm just playing with you. I'm sure the movie will have much more action scenes compared to the first two movies, at least. Maybe even a more active villain. But if it ends up going with the same exact tropes, then what would be the point of bringing back this franchise. I mean that's why people didn't take to the 2nd movie when it came out, being that it was just a re-do of the first.

I just hope Jones is handled with the same respect as Hudson's Winston. Sure, he tends to get the shaft a lot, but I thought Winston was how you do the "everyman/layman being introduced to something out of his league" right. They also didn't ply on the "black stereotype" thing. Winston was just a dude, there for the work, and he was going to do the work no matter what happened. He was there till the end(of the world), in the slime, muck, mire and marshmallow.

No. That narrative was spun by Mike Fleming who wanted to undermine the Feig film by claiming there was an "all guys" film coming. It was always bullshit and he later changed the article. Nothing from Sony or the Russos was ever said about this new film being an all male crew.

I don't understand how you can get so worked up over an all female version of Ghostbusters. I still don't think this is a gimmick either or at the very least it's a gimmick that Feig is really dedicated to.

McCarthy has become a big star(in fact I would say she is the draw when it comes to all the actors in this film), and with that she probably has more say in what she does onscreen. If she wants to play a bumbling fat person, then she'll make it that.
